Naturally Short Cervix & Above 35 - CVS & Cerclage

hi all,
i lost my baby at 22w5d last september which both kkh and private gynaes couldn’t confirm the cause. but it was likely due to infection. i googled and went to see a fetal maternal medicine specialist for advice on future pregnancies. after my second scan yesterday, he confirmed that i have a naturally short cervix at 2.7cm. he suggested that i put a preventive cerclage at wk 14. also, as i’m 36 this yr, he suggest tat i do the cvs test at wk11.5 to ensure baby is ok before cerclage.

any mummies done cvs becos u r above 35? i’m just thinking if this invasive test is really necessary and better than Harmony. i would also appreciate it if any mummies can share with me ur cvs and cerclage experiences and experienced docs for performing these two procedures..

we have just been given the green light to try again but i'm really scared...

I had emergency cerclage at week 20 at kkh
Managed to help me hold on till full term
I initially wanted to do cvs as was high risk for hs
But before the procedure prof John tee ask me to reconsider as I had periods of spotting and cvs might increase my risk of miscarriage
In the end did nipt. Simple blood test with high accuracy too
Anything else u want to know feel free to ask

Hi Mei Hui, thanks so much for sharing. So u were seeing prof John tee as a private patient at kkh?

Hi I was not under prof John tee. But my doc at kkh was not qualified to do the cvs so I was referred to prof John tee for this procedure.

Just to add on I was initially a private patient under dr Tan Heng Hao but switched to subsidised after my cerclage due to potential high nicu bills if I deliver pre term

My emergency cerclage was done by Dr Shephali and Dr Ann Wright. They are part of the high risk team at kkh. Must say I am thankful to them coz my case was complicated. Dilated 5cm with bulging membranes at week 20.

Hi Mei Hui,
Your successful case give a me some hope, as I'm currently laying in KKH due to CI at 20weeks. I have been admitted for 6days but still under observation. Each morning during Dr rounding, the comments were so negative. I'm so afraid, couldn't calm myself down and keep crying in fear.

May I know how long u admitted and the team decided to do the cerclage?
