Local Batang fish - Spanish or King Mackerel?

Hi,

I would like to find out the Local Batang fish that can easily be bought in fish mongers as well as those stores selling fish soup Bee Hoon, are they Spanish or King Mackerel.

I have seen some people mentioning it is King Mackerel while some sites refer it as Spanish Mackerel.

I have consume it for weeks during my pregnancy and am concern about it.

I was informed by my regular fishmonger that it is Spanish mackerel. Gernerally speaking mackerrels are higher in mercury especially the larger ones. When you shop at market try to buy smaller ones or the more expensive 马鲛鱼 aka horse mackerel.
