You mean you can pass urine after your operation but not this two days? Cox usually after ops, doc will make sure patient can pass urine before discharged.

Did doc say anything when you back to hospital?

lovely0315 is right, you're supposed to be discharged only after you can pass gas and urine. To ensure that your system is ok.
Did doc tell you where was your endo found??

I did pass urinate after surgery but only little and it was difficult to squeeze out and feel buring. So my doctor thought i might have urethra infection and gave me 1 does antibiotics when he discharged me. After I back home drank some water then things became worse. I couldn't pee much, my bladder started to fill up. Whole night I had the strong sensation wanna pee but only barely pee a bit. I didn't sleep whole night , was suffer in pain till next day morning I called doctor and he catheterized me then finally I relifed. He let me catheterized for 40 hours and unplug it , let me pee and make sure I could empty bladder before I go home this time. I was worried a lot my bladder or kidneys might get hurt and didnt know what caused that.

At the end I could pee on my own, doctor said some patient bladder nerves not fully recovered after the surgery ,that would cause trouble to pee....Anyway, I'm home now even though I still feel a bit burning and not fully empty bladder but getting better and better.

I think I mislead my doctor as I told him I could pee after surgery but I felt painful when I pee. So he thinks I did pee and fart so should be alright to discharge me. Things only got worse after I back home , as every time I pee the flow was little and bladder never empty so fully filled up but couldn't pee it out. At the end I let go 1L in the clinic !

my doctor said I had quite a lot endo and in deep, mostly at the back of the womb , nearly rectum and bladder but both side of tubes are fine. Hopefully it would help to have baby. Did you also have surgery done and ant good news of baby ?

I also did a lap for endo and also had endo found on my bladder, and also on the tubes, ovaries, bowels, so considered quite severe. I had a slight burning and pressure sensation when I pee during the first two days and after that it’s ok already.

Glad u managed to fix it, mnm216! Hope u are recovering well! Oh I’m also going to ttc after my first cycle so jia you to u too!

mnm216,
wonderful news that Doc manage to get those evil endo out! Don't worry about being paranoid, any discomfort just tell the doc, they are the ones who can advise us. Did doc say when you can start trying?
As i was telling Cookiemonster11, time to alter your diet to reduce inflammatory foods and increase anti-inflammatory ones, if you google there's loads of info out there. Cut down on gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, caffeine, alcohol, red meat. Eat blueberries everyday! LOL.

You might want to try to take ORAC and aloe drink, it helps my colleague n me on a lot on UTI, we used to take antibiotic for UTI, but with these two, we can go without antibiotic!

Also will you may want to try fiber power also b comp to heal the wound in your body..

For inflammation, can use bromelain, that is very good for inflamation also recover after surgery..

Hi,
may I ask how long do you need to wait after surgery before TTC ? I read some ladies have to go on induced menopause to recover, which makes me hesitate.

How does the doc know your have endo ? I read blood test is not accurate. so I guess for now based on my symptoms, doc suspects I have endo. this is first 3 gynea I see just brush off my period pains.

is it only diagnose thru laparoscopy?

Ladies,
Pls share how much is a laparoscopy cost.
Raffles hospital told me 12k$, soo expensive.
Maybe nuh/sgh is much cheaper and can claim medisave?

Hi grumpet , I can ttc after my first period post surgery because I told my gynae that I want to have kids right away so he did not put me on any medication to stop ovulation. Because in a way, pregnancy will help to slow down the growth of endo as well. I had my period about 3 weeks post operation so I’m lucky my body adjusted well so I can ttc again very soon.

For my diagnosis, I went through 3 doctors as well to confirm. My main symptoms were extremely painful periods and pain even on non period days. And elevated ca125 and also a blood cyst in ovaries. So based on that, we felt that it’s most likely endometriosis. And it was pretty serious by the time I got to it. But yes, laparoscopy is the gold standard for diagnosing.

i could start TTC after 1 cycle of period to allow for insides to heal. I went to a specialist, who was proficient in laparoscopy and endometriosis. Based on elimination of infertility causes, symptoms and physical examination, 90% chance i had endo. Lap was done to confirm and remove.
The cost of my surgery was 30k lol...

Hi all just to share my own experience for reference. I was on ttc journey 4 years ago. Went through fertility tests and additional works such as HSG, iui (unsuccessful), monthly scanning of womb before and after period etc before deciding to go for laparoscopy. This is really the gold standard for endo. I don’t have painful periods actually only 3 days menses which somehow got lesser and lesser. I wanted to also sort of have a clean up of my womb and also have doc to check ovaries and tubes (my HSG result was inaccurate compared to laparoscopy) before taking the plunge of ivf if this doesn’t work out.

After laparoscopy I opted no medication as wanted to try immediately. Doc not in factor but went along. I tried the month immed after laparoscopy and got pregnant by grace of God. Now my boy is turning 4 this year.

Everyone’s journey is different but I was glad I went. The only snag was my doc did not take any photos or videos of my op so I can only take his word that I had mild to moderate endo.

Hope this helps. God bless and baby dust to all.

Hi thanks for ur words of encouragement. Did ur endo return after? Or feltany symptoms since it’s been 4 years?

Hi I don’t think it has returned ha but I don’t have specific symptoms. Perhaps the pregnancy also helped to keep it away. My menses are regular 28 days cycle and volume is lesser than before but still normal.

I managed to get pregnant again recently so i Guess I’m a lucky beneficiary of the lap surgery.

That’s really good news. Congrats! I hope mine won’t return too as I don’t want to go through these horror period episodes and surgery again, although the procedure was a smooth one for me.

Hi I think doing it was the right thing for me personally. But just to add, I also did a slew of other things also eg TCM for both me and hubby, acupuncture and moxibustion for both of us, exercising regularly, losing weight for my hubby etc. I even took one year sabbatical leave as I was thinking if lap doesn't work I will want to focus full time on IVF. I was in my late 30s then.

My motto was to do my best and let God do the rest. At least I can account to myself and God that i really tried my very best. Rather than do this half heartedly and hope for good results.

Yes I totally agree on supporting your surgery and fertility with supplementary methods. Can’t just rely on surgery and live a crappy lifestyle after that too. Glad everything worked out for you.

I can’t wait to get back to my workouts, but right now I’m just focusing on full recovery and trying to avoid “cooling” foods. In the past I keep eating raw vege, salads.. and my body is always cold, weak and have trembling hands sometimes. Always thought cooling foods are a myth but I now think it makes a big difference.

Hi I think you can also try warm foods such as red bean soup. I guzzled down a lot as well.

Also took to wearing socks when sleeping.

Jia you dear and baby dust to all!

Doctor said I could try again after period. I think I recover pretty alright. I can walk for hours and don't feel any pain after 3 days. I have heard of evil endo may come to visit after some time so I try to quit cold food and cold drink.

To most of the ladies who tried to conceive and suffer in huge pain during period, very high chance you got endo attack. However, not everyone has the obvious symptoms like me, I don't feel much pain during mense but I told doc I do have ovulation, I did the HSG ovulation test, the tubes have no problem but the report showed I may have endo. The first doctor thought it was only 1 cycle endo as he said he didn't see any unusual in ultrasound. Second doctor did a vagina and rectal exam by using his finger =.= , then he found out I had endo. However, only laparoscopy can be sure if you have endo problem.

12k is only the doctor fee not include hospital? My total bill in TMC was crazy , about 27k plus another 3k for staying extra 2 nights in the hospital. Doctor quoted me around 9.6k to 16k depends on how complicated inside. However, my doctor recommends doing the laparoscopy because he said I could claim it back by insurance and after that, quite high chance to conceive and that may save money of iui /ivf.

Probably it was only doctor fee, I didn’t ask, I thought it’s overpriced lol. Laparoscopy isn’t complicated surgery, in Europe it costs about 4K euros, so I was shocked when heard 12k, now even more shocked about 27k. Just curious how much is it in public hospitals.
I hope I don’t need it, my hcg test came positive from first fresh ivf.

I also did in TMC and also around that price for total bill U_U but mine is 1 night stay only. Did you manage to claim everything?

Laparoscopy diagnosis isn't complicated but when it comes to removing it (via excision method especially), that's the tricky part. Not many doctors are qualified enough to remove by excision and if they are not specialized, they will just laser the endometriosis which will not remove the root of it, just the surface. So i guess the cost of it depends on what exactly the lap is for, diagnosis? laser/ablation? or excision.

But I have to say a large chunk of the cost really goes to hospital bill..sighs. But after going through it, I think it's money well spent because i feel so much better now already. Just hoping for a BFP now hahah

And congrats on your BFP! Heard pregnancy can really slow down the growth of endo or even reverse the spread, but you'll only find out after you stop breastfeeding i guess. Hope all is good since there's a lot of success stories on how endo went away after pregnancy

Jiayou Cookiemonster! Don't forget my success story too :) Doc say i should be able to conceive within 6 months and i really did! I hope that encourages you and continue to keep that hope burning in you!

@Babylovin thanks for bringing some much needed positivity in the light of this horrible disease! How is your pregnancy coming along?

Congrats to all pregnant ladies and mommies. wonderful to read yr stories.

@Babylovin
Where was yr surgery? I thought it was around $12k and I was prepared to use some of my own money. May not have insurance coverage, due to fibroids and exclusions. Not sure if they will consider Endometriosis separate.

if it's $30k I have to think really hard. :( will see what my doc say.

Just an update! In case others there are others like me who are ttc-Ing with endo. I managed to conceive finally 6 months after my surgery , it could have been shorter I believe, but I had some recurrent yeast infection in between :) I’m really pleased with the result of my surgery. Pain free period, or at most sometimes mild mild cramps.

Can anyone share with me post endo lap experience please, how about the pain? Manage to pass urine and clear bowl easily after post surgery. How long its take normally to get well everything. As i am going soon for my endo surgery. Your experience will boost my confidence. Thanks
