Dear All,
Let's share our experiences with IUI!!!!To Start with,I shall share my story...

I have had a M/C in 2009 and a Ectopic Pregnancy in 2011.Have been TTC since then but no avail.Finally have decided to go for my SO-IUI treatment.Started with Clomid on 10/07/13, Puregon Injection on 13/07/13.Did my First scan on 15/07/13.My Follicles were 11,6,5 mm on Right Side and 12,6,5 mm on left side.Continued Puregon for two more days.Scanned again on 18/07/13.Follicles were 16.5,6,5 mm on Right Side and 17,8,6 on left side.Uterine lining was 5.5mm.Doctor advised to us Estraderm patch to boost the uterine line as it had to be atleast 8mm thick to start IUI. Went back for scan again on 19/7/13.Follicles were 17.5,6,5mm on Right side and 18.5,10,6 on left side.Uterine Lining was only 6mm.Dr asked to start IUI on Monday,22/07/13.On 20/7/13, I went to O & G 24hrs clinic at KKH for my HCG Trigger injection.Sunday,was in alot of pain(stomach cramps).Monday went to clinic @ 0830hrs to give hussband's sperm for washing.Was told to go back at 1030hrs for procedure.After the procedure,was given Dydrogesterone tablets to be taken for the next 18 days.Was told to continue Estraderm Patch for the next 2 weeks. Also advised BD on IUI Night and following day. Now its my 2dpiui.anxiously waiting for the outcome.Hopefully can get a BFP. Have been waiting for this chance for the past two years and really disappointing when each time the test is negative.

Now have slight discomfort at the abdomen.
Has anyone experienced this?is it normal?

this month is my 2nd attempt to do so-iui. today is my 9dpiui.
1st so-iui i have 4 follicles, all on my left and nothing happen on the right side.
2nd so-iui i have 3 follicles, i did my 1st scanning on 15 jul 2013, 20mm,14mm and 13.5mm. trigger shoot on 15 jul 2013 8pm ( I inject myself) and IUI on 17 jul 2013 11am.
Dont worry, those pain n cramp at the abdomen is normal. it is cause by the dydrogesterone that u taking. take it easy and rest more.

Good to know that the cramps are normal..i was so worried.
Today is my 7dpiui..will be going for my progesterone serum test later..

im 13dpiui today and i have some light brown discharge.....very worried now.... :(

Dun worry...Juz Relax..Brownish discharges can be due to implantation bleeding too.Stay positive..All the best!!

My progesterone level was only 24.87 nmol/l.considered low..
Praying hard now...Hopefully it is a BFP. :)
 
Hi all, I am in exploratory stage now as I wish to explore IUI after a M/C in 2009 and no further news thereafter. Could someone share with me the waiting time to get an appointment or start treatment in both KKH and a private Hospital as well as the cost involved? Much appreciate your help. Thanks
 
You can fix a appt with any doctor in KKH first..Waiting time should be ard a week.then let them know abt ur concerns,they will refer u to IVF centre for further review.You will have to do a blood test which cost ard 200 dollars and pay for the registration ard 96 dollars.u can use Medisave for the treatment but its not advised to incase u need IVF in the future.u r only able to use 6000 for first cycle,5000 for 2nd and 4000 for 3rd. IUI cost between 1500 - 2500. all blood tests have to be paid by cash.
 
hi hshome, i do my so-iui at JB msia TMC fertility center. singapore hospital abit costly. so me n my husband decide to do it in jb.
my 1st consultation i spend about rm400 for consultation fees and blood test, then after my period doc refer me for the HSG scan price is rm330. my hubby SA rm180
medication for IUI is about rm600. and the cost for iui process is rm600. excluded those blood test the cost for IUI is about RM1500.

santhiya86, today is my 14dpiui, still have a lil bit brown discharge.... very very very worried and super super nervous now. i am still continue with the dydrogestrone. and i dare not to do pregnancy test yet.
are u still taking the dydrogestrone? dont lost hope. hopefully this time we both can have a BFN together :)

I am still on dydrogesterone.Already 11dpiui...the weird thing was i was having sore breasts and noted some fluid coming out.looks more like colestrum....then i called KKH.They said that its due to the dydrogesterone tablets.
And i cheated by taking a pregnancy test.Was a BFN. :(
Hopefully it is a false result.

Still keep my fingers crossed.My HCG test is on 7/8/13.
If u r intending to do a pregnancy test, Get the Clear Blue Digital.
More accurate.

thanks for your advice. So would the waiting time to start the process take much longer in KKH then a private? Also cost wise as well how much more in private? Do anyone have a recommended doc in Singapore preferably not in SGH and Gleneagle cos it is too far. Like KKH, TMC, etc?
 
I am not sure about private charges..in KKH, u can try Dr. Sadhana of Dr. M L Lim.. both is equally good.
Waiting time is not long in KKH.Ard 1 hr maximum.
 
Juz did my HCG beta serum test at the polyclinic..
Now must wait till tomorrow for result.

Already feel like AF is coming..Haiz...All the cramps and pre menstrual clear discharges are there....
If i fail this round, i will proceed with IVF.
 
Santhiya, be positive.
Ijust fail my second iui last week. 2 aug my period come so 3 aug i go see doc to get medication for my 3rd SO-IUI.
This is your 1st iui? be positive. wish u all the best :) relax ya.

So sorry to hear abt the failed iui..Dun worry.Failure is the first step to success..that is how i am taking it right now..
I have failed this round..This is my first iui.
Hubby and i have decided to try out ivf for the next round.We r gonna take my docctor's advise as i had previous ectopic and my progesterone level is low.
Hope to succeed next round.

Hello all, this is the first time I'm posting on a forum after scouring all possible forums to address my concern.

My history
1. Aug 2012 - Fell pregnant naturally (after coming off BC in May 2012) with a very long cycle where ovulation was CD34. Unfortunately lost it in Sep at 4w5d.
2. Dec 2012 - First SO IUI, failed. Was using Puregon without trigger shot.
3. Jan/Feb 2013 - Second SO IUI, failed. Was using Puregon, Menopur and trigger shot.
4. April 2013 - Switched Dr.
5. May 2013 - Tried clomid for the first time. Still long cycle with ovulation somewhere ard CD20ish, fell pregnant but lost it very early in the pregnancy. Blood test on day of due menses was beta 16. Level dropped to 12 a week later and subsequently complete loss of pregancy with miscarriage bleeding somewhat like a period.


Current
July/Aug 2013 - Third SO IUI, this time with Gonal F, no trigger shot.
CD8 - scan shows lining at 9mm, with largest follicle being 12mm and many smaller ones.
CD11 (3rd Aug) - first opk+ using FMU. Did IUI in late morning.
CD12 - opk+ using FMU
CD13 - opk- using FMU. Finally surge over which seems to mean this is the ovulation day. BBT 36.2
CD14 - BBT 36.5
I have been taking progynova 10mg x 2 since day of IUI, and started duphaston 10mg x 2 on CD13.
My BBT did not continue to rise thereafter but stay rather low and very close to coverline of 36.25. I use fertilityfriend to chart.
8DPO - spotting. only on wipes, brownish tinged stains.
9DPO - spotting. brownish stains on wipes, with very little stains on undies.

Questions
This is my first SO IUI cycle where I was given both Progynova (estrogen) and Duphaston (progesterone) tablets to be taken after the IUI process.
I like to know if anyone has been given the same, and did that affect your BBT? My typical BBT post ovulation is relatively on the high side and i could see the shift in temp but with the combination of estrogen and progesterone tablets, it doesnt seem to shift up. Could the estrogen tablets be causing this?

Hi everyone, this is my first attempt in a forum.
I was diagnosed with PCO around 10yrs ago and been seeing doctor at KK who prescribe me with oral contraceptive trying to regulate the period. But i defaulted treatment.
Few months before getting married in 2010, i been seeing Dr Benjamin Tham (very gentle and nice) in TMC as i knew that its not easy for me to conceive. I was started on clomid+metformin and the dosage just keep increasing till 150mg clomig and 1500mg metformin. I had my first attempt on IUI by Dr LC Cheng couple of mths back as Dr Tham was unavailable. Subsequently, i switch gynae to Dr LC Cheng (fertility specialist - he is professional, informative and great!). Another attempt cycle of clomid 150mg+metformin 1500mg was unsuccessful as i had ovulated by the progesterone level was not high enough. Just had appt with him today and had 'upgraded to injectables' - Gonal F. Will be doing SO-IUI.
Anyone experiencing emotional roller coaster? Don't know if its due to all the medication but I had emotion breakdown on and off.
Is the success rate for SO-IUI high?
Fertility treatment are so exp, hope to succeed this time and save the money for grooming baby. ;)

joyce-ee, according to my doc..if both healthy the successful rate for so-iui is about 20%

today is my day 14, when to clinic this morning for follicles scanning....this month i have 2 follicles only but size still same...about 15mm. so i m given the medication for trigger shot. give my follicle few more days to grow. sunday night will inject the trigger shot and tuesday morning schedule for IUI.
this month i m not positive. but i will still try my best n hope for the best to come. gambateh!
 
waiwish - I was given estrodiol patch to boost my estrogen level together with progesterone tablets as my uterine lining was only 6mm.My progesterone level was low too..Dun worry..
Joyce-ee - Its normal to have mood swings while on fertility medications as it is one of the side effects.
Try to keep urself occupied with things so that u wun get too stressed out..

As for me, i went to see Dr. sadhana on 13/08.She had advised me to go for IVF. i will be going for my IVF counselling on 3/9/13 and will start my treatment wen my next period comes.

My scan on CD8 shows a very nice endo I was told, and lining was 9mm. So gynae said all progressing well, largest follicle then was 12mm along with other smaller ones around 8/9mm.

I was told to do opk using first morning urine (FMU) and ring them once i see a smiley. I got a smiley on CD11 and went in that morning for IUI without trigger. Gynae says since I already show an LH surge on OPK naturally, there is no need for trigger shot.

Since my lining is good, why do I still need to take progynova (estrogen) along with duphaston? Just curious but at that point, it just didnt occur to me to ask much coz it was a busy saturday morning at the clinic and running to the lab for my hubs to get semen wash and all was a mad rush. Lab closes mid day.

And I still chart, but my bbt didnt seem to rise after IUI. I'm just concerned if i even did ovulate at all.

Start spotting this Tue, 10 days past IUI and supposedly 8 dpo. very little spotting, only on wipes. Still having it now, and really really tiny bits on wipes. I was told to do a hpt when i finished my medication. It will be this Saturday. And even if home pregnancy test were to show negative, I have to go clinic for blood test to confirm.

Had my bbt rise, i would be less worried knowing i had ovulated and all. So this non rising BBT chart of mine this cycle just confuses me and i keep wondering if it's the estrogen medication playing tricks.

Just cant wait to get it over and re-start the next cycle if this is indeed a busted cycle.

Will try another round of SO IUI if this fails, which will be my 4th. But will be second try with this gynae.

All the best to all trying!! Your updates and encouragement really really helps. It feels so good to be able to share so much and hear your stories too. My friends are either pregnant or busy with their infants/toddlers and I just didnt want to bug them with my confused state.
 
For my previous IUI, i had problem with lining also. It always only linger aroung 5-6mm. I read that clomid causes thin lining too. Last month lining was great but ovulation not optimal since no rise in BBT and progesterone level satisfactory. This SO-IUI will be first attempt
 
Just had my first self Gonal F jab... Was having palpitation, hb offered to help but seeing his uncertainty face i decided to brave up and go ahead. To my surprise, it was not painful at all. Scared myself for nothing.
This journey is so hard to walk through alone, the support from you mummies, mummies to be and TTC mummies are so precious. Thank u.. :D

Hi hshome, my gynae is Dr LC Cheng in TMC. His clinic is WC Cheng & Associate just next to taxi stand
 
joyce-ee, we are seeing same gynae. I did SO IUI with gonal F this cycle, test date on sat. But like i said, no bbt rise, doubt i even did ovulate.

You may want to check with Dr Cheng to ensure ovulation for your IUI :)

I was given Progynova and Dupaston after IUI, even though lining was already nice at 9mm on cycle day 8.

Previous two rounds of SO IUI was with another gynae and I was only given utrogestan then.

waiwish, Great! Previously i was given Progynova and Dupaston after IUI too, but that time lining only 6mm. I ovulated (Opk +ve) after given the HSG jab (this is painful) but no bbt rise.
This round with SO-IUI, basically almost the same will be going for scan on mon to track follicles and when its at optimal, he will give hsg trigger shot then follow by IUI. I must say he is a busy man but very professional and gentle. He never shut us up with we ask tons of question and what i like most is can contact his nurse directly for queries and appointment and need not go through the operator. Not saying that Dr Benjamin Tham is no good, he is fatherly and gentle as well. In fact, i followed him from KK. But i think for my case being not easy to conceive that's why i switch to a fertility specialist. I hope i made a right choice to switch.
 
joyce, i didnt get to do the hsg jab coz i got the opk +ve on cycle day 11 and was asked to do IUI that day itself. So perhaps bbt will not rise while on progynova and duphaston. Since you didnt experience bbt rise too.

you didnt do SO for your last round of IUI?

Dr Cheng is really nice. If i keep failing my SO IUI, it definitely has nothing to do with any gynae but myself.
 
No that time was IUI only, supposed to be done by Dr Tham but he was not available so Dr Cheng in a way helped him to do. But i'm so impressed with him, i switched to him. the other time IUI only (clomid+progynova) then after IUI was given Dupaston. I guess that first IUI was a 'test run". And that hsg jab made my buttock sore for at least 3 days.
This SO-IUI hope will succeed. Fingers crossed. ("x")
 
hi, i do my opk test this morning n i got positive result. call to the clinic and doc want me to go to clinic for iui immediately but unfortunately my hubby is not free today. then i was told to inject the trigger shot this morning and go to clinic for IUI tmr afternoon. i am so worried that i will miss the ovulation timing. just bought another 5 sticks of ovulation test kit to monitor..... pray hard hope tmr still can catch the eggs
 
my 3rd SO IUI failed. Having menses day 2 today, see dr tmr before deciding on another round or just clomid or ??

But, I'm trying my best not to pin too much hope. Was given progynova and dupaston orally and to come back for pregnyl 5000u on mon and thurs. The other round no pregnyl jab. Nurse say Dr Cheng usually prescribe this for his patients for 'extra protection and support'. Maybe the other time I'm still under Dr Tham so treatment different. Btw, saw Dr Cheng's dad in the clinic - the legendary Dr WC Cheng, making his round. The 2WW officially start now

How are you feeling today Joyce? I was at the clinic yesterday too, for my scan. And was given Cetrotide along with my continuation of Gonal F. Will see him again Wednesday CD11 to determine trigger shot date followed by IUI. :)
 
So far so good, not feeling anything strange. No symptoms. Going for another pregnyl injection on thursday. In the meantime, progynova and dupaston daily. Good luck to you!

How are you feeling this week?

I just had my IUI today, and will be going back next Mon and Thursday for pregnyl 5000iu jab too. Will start on progynova tonight and duphaston on Sunday.

I am exactly one week behind you :)
 
:D So exciting, hope we both succeed. Will be going for blood test if AF does not arrive by Friday. So far, haven't been feeling anything weird except for some light cramp now and then at the lower abdomen.

How about you? Feeling ok?
 
But thinking back, i realise that for the past few days i been having sensitive nose and sneezing often. BBT after couple of days afetr IUI is higher than before, it is now around 36.5 whereas usually my BBT is around 35.8-36.0. And i don't know if its the weather or the meds, been having hot flushes as well. Hope all's fine
 
Hi Joyce, did u chart your bbt from start of cycle? When did ur bbt start to rise, before or after iui? I chart every cycle and I can't help but to think I may hv ovulated the day before iui. Hopefully still in time.

Other than sore nipples, it's prolly too early for me to feel anything.

Tmr going for my first pregnyl 5,000iu jab. :)

But around 3 days after IUI, BBT been 36.5 +/_

It's normal to hv bbt rise after ovulation and it will stay elevated till next menses. Juz that my bbt chart seems to show that I hv ovulated the day after trigger shot, meaning one day before iui itself. In any case, there's nothing much I could do now except to pray for baby blessings.

I hope urs stay high for the next 9 months, fingers crossed!!! Looking forward to your good news!
 
Had my first pregnyl 5,000iu support jab today. Looking forward to second jab on Thursday :)

Anyone using fertility friend to chart bbt?

I juz attended my IVF counselling yesterday..i am starting my IVF cycle once AF comes...
Getting really nervous..
Anyway, when will your Blood test be?
Hopefully it is a BFP for u.. :)
 
I went for IVF counselling in June as well, just as a preparation coz we wanted to go with IVF then. But gynae said to try SO IUI another time.

I was told we will have to take oral contraceptive pill for a cycle before proceeding with IVF proper as part of the protocol, is that the same for you? When I heard that, I was like 'huh, one cylce of time wasted?!'.

Where did you do your couselling? We did ours at CARE, Novena Medical Centre.

Today is 5dpiui, told to do test on 14th Sep, 10 more days to go.... :)

And many many thanks for your blessings. Very much needed indeed. Despite 3 failed SO IUI cycles this year, I am still holding on to hopes....one day it will be our day! one day....

I suppose the doctor had wanted u to try the long protocol which will take 6 - 8 weeks to complete..I am currently on Short protocol Where it will take abt 3-4 weeks to complete.Its only one cycle for me..I did my counselling at KKH bcos i am a nurse at singhealth polyclinic and i am entitled to the benefits in KKH in case i need hospitalisation...
10 days will go by really fast.. We will definitely make it one day!! :)

Will let you know my outcome in future...
 
My gynae says short protocol too. It's called the antogonist protocol using isci. Just that during the counselling session, the embroyologist was telling us that the cycle before we need to take OCP to clear the uterus/womb to ensure stability first. I suppose if condition is all good, this part can skipped? Will check with my gynae when we reach that point.

For now, I wish, hope and pray for BFP in 10 days!!!

Do you know when your menses is due?
 
Hmmm... I remember clearly that only in long protocol they use OCP... Short protocol is almost the same as SO IUI...clomid and injectables...

My menses should be coming within the next 4 days...Waiting anxiously..can't wait to start the cycle...And will be given Hospitalization Leave from Egg retrieval day till Pregnancy Blood test day..Approximately 21 days...Can rest at home and dun have to get tensed at work...

Previously During the time i had my Miscarriage and Ectopic Pregnancy, i was working at an obstetric ward..Was super stressed when everyday had to see mothers giving birth and when i had to feed the babies at the nursery...Now, dun have to worry abt that.. :) Soon will be my turn.. :D
 


Yes, was told best to have bed rest after egg retrieval. Glad you will be getting your ample rest!!!!
