Hi Mummies,
I have been attending Shichida at TPY with my girl since 2009 and we are withdrawing after being in the program for 2 years. I definitely would compliment the teaching BUT it all depends on which sensei you get. It's only 2 years and the current sensei is already our 4th sensei. They left after one another due to their unhappiness with the management. Even if the sensei quits, there is no 2nd words from the mgt to keep them. Reason- they can get cheaper sensei==> Filipina
My girl's previous sensei were all local Chinese but the current one is from the philippines. We was lucky that this instructor can pronounce pretty clear. Why did I say that? My younger son attended 1 term and he was not so lucky, the sensei is also a Filipina and I have problem understanding her words and the poor kids were laughing at her due to that her pronouncation was funny and they too couldn't figure out what she was talking about especially when all these teaching needed to be done at a fast speed??!! The other parents were naive enough to laugh with their kids without realising that they were not getting what they paid for! After 2 lessons, I requested for a change of sensei for my son but was rejected. However i insisted on my change and they finally agreed after hearing that I'm in the program for more than a year with my girl and i know what is an effective sensei. The new sensei for my son is again a Filipina but at least she can speak better. however, she couldn't control the class as she was allowing other kids to snack during class. these kids are all a bunch of 2yr old and when one starts to munch on some food, the others started looking. So end up only those who had food in their mouths would concentrate on the flash cards etc. The sensei just could not control these inconsierate parents. sigh...
what i wat to say here is Shichida may go downhill if they were to let this carry on. I'm not trying to say that all Filipina are bad but i don't think we want our kids who are at such young age to start listening and speaking in their accent? Also, they do not treasure their sensei as well as students. When i informed them on withdrawing my son and my girl, they happily gave me the form to fill in without asking why...
Why i'm withdrawing my girl is that she is losing her focus in class and it's a waste of my $$ to let her stay. i certainly believe in the success of Shichida Method provided the kids has good concentration and with good sensei.
For mummies who decide to enrol your kids, my advice is you got to be able to judge the sensei. Every lesson cost $60+ so make it a worth one. good luck!
