Gynae not company's panel doctor

Hi mummies, if my gynae is not in the company's list of panel doctor, am i entitled to medical leave for the monthly check-up? What does MOM says about it? It's unfair if we have to visit a gynae that is on company's panel! They are not even reputable, it's not like choosing formula milk..

@arwenstar
It's quite unlikely that company's panel doctor will include gynecology. D panel doctors r usually GPs, but unless your company does provide this additional "service" it is impt 2 go back 2 your employee handbook 2 c wat is d arrangement.

I dont think a co can force u 2 c their panel doctors. Like mine, I dont use d panel doc when I m sick. MCs r still valid, just dat I m not able 2 claim my medical fees fr d co since I didnt consult d panel doc.

It's quite likely dat u can still consult doc dat r not within d panel, but u wld have 2 bear all d costs of d consultation. As 4 MCs, u may wanna check wif your HR dept. My take is dat MCs shld b still valid even thu it may not b fr d panel doc. Best 2 check wif HR.

I have never heard of any companies who covers employees full costs when it comes to having kids. As for medical leave, it depends on the company.

guess you better check with your HR if the panel doctors include gyne or not. I am from HR and I have never heard of company having panel gyne...

Hi, yes, my company has panel gynae! But never heard any of them.

Also, I never thought of whether a gynae is on panel or not when choosing one, I chose based on forum review, experience, stitching skill etc mah..

This is an excerpt from MOM website :
There are many reasons why an employee could have sought medical treatment from a doctor who is not on the company’s approved list. Employers should find out the reasons from their employees, and exercise flexibility.

Still ambiguous...

@ arwenstar - it is best 2 check wif your HR personnel as MOM sites only serve as a guide Just like annual leave... MOM guides states 1st yr of service is 7 days but u will note dat most co gives more den dat

As mentioned in my post b4... it's quite likely dat u can consult a Gynea who isn't in d panel just dat costs can't b reimbursed However d MC shld still b valid Best to confirm wif your HR personnel too

Thanks, tiggerpooh! Actually the email from HR (disseminated to all staff) say only MC from panel doctor accepted :(

I'm reluctant to check with HR because my direct boss is currently flexible just to inform him that I have medical check-up. As long as I finish my work. If I ask HR, it's like cast in stone... But still, HR can find fault and use my medical check-up as a reason to send warnings etc. Worst come to worst, I get additional MC from a panel doctor if I go for check-up just to cover myself.

But somehow, I just feel it's wrong for a company to only accept MC from panel docs. All MCs should be valid as non-panel doctors also have license to practise in SG. If from overseas doc, I can understand... I also understand if we have to bear the medical bill from non-panel doctors. But should not apply to MC, just feel so wrong...

@arwenstar Well, as long as your boss is okie, i guess u shld b okie. Is your co an MNC? Cos fr wat i know, most MNCs r quite flexible. Even in d case of my co, thu big but functions like SME... sometimes even worst... they r okie 4 staff 2 submit MCs fr non panel doc. Frankly, think they r happier cos less costs 2 d co. 4 me... I dont use panel doc cos i find their med r usually not effective, plus none of d clinics r near my place. If I m sick, I dont think i wanna travel just 2 c an ineffective doc. :p

Yes, you are right. My colleague went to a panel doctor and the label on her medication says "Stop medication if eye rolls backward".

That same panel doctor took my blood to check sugar level right after my dinner and suspected me to have diabetes! Then I went to another GP to seek second opinion. The other GP says the earlier doctor crazy cos u shd fast before checking for blood sugar. True enough when he did blood test (for my peace of mind) I was far from having diabetes! *Roll eye*

My company SME...
