Expensive preschool vs neighbourhood kindy

Hi all

Would like to hear your opinion on this.. if cost is not an issue, would you send your child to an expensive preschool or a 3/4 hour kindy? I’m a sahm so I am quite in a dilemma on this...

Not much difference actually. It's the people in the school that is important. Whether your child gets enough attention, or simply left to do their own things. IMO, enroll to a 3/4 one first, if your child is not happy there, change.

Most importantly, the school environment and staff are to your satisfaction. You don’t really need to go for expensive ones, some neighbourhood preschools are having very friendly Teachers. I have heard for expensive schools, they use plastic jug to contain hot boiling water to prepare milk for kids.
Nothing can be compared to a mother’s care.

Hi fuzzywuzzy... Had the same dilemma before. I would say it's better go to take a tour (hopefully can do now) and get a good feel of the place. See the curriculum and observe the teachers. May not be 100% accurate but at least you get gut feel on the place.

I moved my kids from MFS to Growing up Gifted (Thomson). Agree with above views that it depend on what you are looking for. In the early years, I think MFS did a fantastic job with socialisation, exploration and community learning. We moved to GUG as we wanted to focus on school readiness. We sat down to scrutinise the school syllabus and looked at their workbooks before signing the kids Up. Definitely a lot of ex than MFS, but still cheaper than Mindchamps.

Hi all, I am clueless of what school to let my son go in. Is local MOE preschools lesser better than those private schools eg MFS, mindchamp?
