But the pain is really disrupting my life and conceive. I hope that through this platform i can get to know of people who are of similar experience like me and also i am hoping to see a good gynae who can give me advise.

Hi zenn_zenn,
I was diagnosed in 2010 (but have suffered painful periods and mid-cycle pain since i first got my period at age 13) after a laparoscopic cystectomy to remove two cysts on both ovaries (6cm and 10cm). They found out it was endometriotic cysts after the surgery n lab tests.

I have heard of other friends with small cysts who were advised too by their doctors to just monitor and didnt provide any other solutions apart frm that. I myself personally have yet to see an endo specialist and i have only been to kkh back and forth occasionally to check if i have new cysts.

I would assume maybe (and thats a strong maybe) that the doc has asked u to monitor first because any type of surgery even keyhole can do alot of damage especially since ur cyst is on ur ovary, the surgery will cause damage to ur egg reserve becos thats what happened to me. Due to the lap cystec on both my ovaries, i now have a diminished ovarian reserve. But of coz i do not have any regrets abt doing the lap cystec then cos the cysts were 6 and 10cm so it was essential for me to remove them. I only found out abt my diminished ovarian reserve last year before my IUI and IVF. Im 33 this year and the doc shared that my egg reserves is somewhat like a woman in her 40s. Very little quantity and questionable quality.

So i guess, if ure actively ttc-ing at the moment, i would sugggest maybe that you meet up with a fertility doctor who can suggest a suitable conception plan for u. My doc at KKIVF was Dr Jessie Phoon and she made sure to consider my condition - endometriosis and diminished egg reserve when deciding on my IVF plan. Ive still yet to conceive so far but i find that she really understands her patients well and will discuss with u about the process thoroughly.

At the moment im just working towards managing my endo-related pain with natural remedies (still doing trial and error), no painkillers unless really2 needed n going for ultrasounds now then to check whats going on "in there"

Hi zenn_zenn,

Prof Fong YF cured me of endometrosis back in Y2016.
Before that, the numerous visits to KKH doesn’t helps at all, and just diagnose it as just “polyp”, or menses cramps.

I experienced extremely painful AF every month back then.
Have problem even getting up from the bed with bloated stomach and sharp pain.
It greatly affected my daily and work life then.

You may like to consider a caring and responsible doctor like Prof Fong. He have moved on from NUH to private now:

“He became president of the 3rd Congress of Endometriosis and Uterine Disorders in 2017, and currently serves on the board of the Asian Society of Endometriosis and Adenomyos.”

Take care.

I saw Prof Fong too to get his opinion. After going thru so many scans and gynea, none of them can properly diagnose me w Endometriosis and most don't even mention to me I have adenomyosis too. So it is very important to look for a gynea that specialises in Endometriosis.

Some Endo cyst will show up on ultrasound, easier to detect but other endo, u will read that laproscopy surgery is the only way to properly diagnose endometriosis. However fortunately, Prof Fong is more skilled and thorough with his ultrasound diagnosis, he could tell whether I have adhesion etc.

I just found out that I have endometriosis on one side and endometrioma on the other side. I just got a shocked from my medical screening results that doc suspect something and advise for further check on it. As results, the cyst were quite big (8cm)

I'm thinking if I should just proceed with the gyne that I met in Raffles or get a second opinion. I'm lost and no idea who to go n get second option. Tried to call a few whom being mentioned in this forum, but most of the gyne are not available for a consultation within these few days.

Hi Lynn_lynn, did you highlight to them? Think they can squeeze to slot you in for urgent cases. Raffles Hospital will be more expensive as no government subsidy, yeah? Take care.

Thanks for your advise. I managed to meet a specialist already.. I am more prone to go for private as I'm covered with insurance.

Any of you did egg frozen before keyhole surgery before? I am considering to frozen my egg before going on with keyhole surgery. As after the surgery, the egg reserve will be affected.

Anyone could share some thoughts ?
