Cord Blood Bank???

Hey mums and dads!

Just heard of this cord blood banking thing recently and have no idea what is it about. And it's costly too.

Any mums/ dads that have decided to sign up after the birth of bb? If so, why? Is it a common thing to sign up for cord blood bank??

Hi seashell123 I have sign up the cord blood bank for my 1st born and we now sign up another one for my 2nd child as it help when there is anything happen to the child or parents the cord blood can help them and if u wan to hear more you can contact my consultant of the cord blood personnel at 9177 4036 her name is Ms Shynna Neo from Cryoviva Singapore is better and cheaper than cord blood bank.

We decided to donate it for both our babies.

The chance of using it is actually very low.

"Doctors in Singapore estimate that the chance of families retrieving their privately banked cord blood for treatment is between 1 in 2,500 (0.04%) and 1 in 20,000 (0.0005%)."

"Research also shows it’s very unlikely that your child can use his own cord blood to save himself from genetic or auto-immune diseases, because that blood may already carry the defects."

There are some condition to donate to SCBB... minimum need to have 900m steam cell n u or your family member do not have any medical condition.. mean u need to have super healthy

Yup. They are very strict about it. They have been followed up with me even after I delivered the baby 6 months later.
