Hi..

Im currently 36 weeks and I've still havent decided between the A1 And B1 rooms. Anyone out there has delivered under the A1 Premeir package kind enuff to share the bill?

THanks!

Hi there,

I delivered my girl last year on Boxing Day at KKH under A1 ward (not premium ward) by C-Section & it cost me in total S$7k (this amount is inclusive of antenatal claim of $2.1k). After lessing out medisave $3.5k & antenatal claim $2.1k, I still need to pay $1.4k. For natural birth, the cost should be about $4-5k. This might be helpful for you to see if you want A1 or B1 ward.[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi there

I delivered late 2009 under A1 ward for normal delivery. Around 5.5K. After medisave and deductions, Cash paid around 1.5K with some refund. I think A1 is worth paying a but more cos they upgraded me to the premium suite for a night ! Very nice.

hi adeline..

i finally took the A1 classic package. natural with epidural, it cost me approximately $3400. with the 2100 medisave and 450 antenatal claim, i paid only 850? [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

for baby, it was almost 580 but this whole amt can paid using medisave:p

hope that helps!

Hi Adeline,

Hmm...mine is not premier package as my hubby scheme is under civil servant scheme so if I take premier package we can't have any subsidy. Mine is normal A1 package.

Hi gals,

Thanks for your replies. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I am seeing the gynae at TPS, so I'm not sure if I can still choose Classic or only can choose Premier. Confused!

Dear Mummies

Sorry might be late to add things in.

Would like to find out how is their services ?

Secondly, what would the hospital provide or give your baby when you discharge.

[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

service was great. nurses were caring and helpful. always at your beck and call. for a first time mother like me, thats important. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

i got a pack of Pampers for newborn, Johnson wipes, a box of tissue, a small bag of toiletries and a small cake. if u cant breastfeed, milk powder provided too. towels and gowns are provided. all is good except for the food. not so tasty.

Ok. I am actually kind of like thinking of it go KKH, TMC or East Shore.

Food wise, if no good, think will ask my mother of MIL to cook, if not, ask my hubby to tabao or cook. hehehe. but if natural only stay 2 days right?

Do they allow half breastfeed / half formula ? cuase i worry not enough milk for baby (from me) hehehe [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

At 1st i really worry about KKH but think they have improve .

any advice on for daddy who stay with mummy for the days in the ward ?

Hi

Yes, they do allow you to half breastfeed / half formula. They even provide you with a breast pump to help you stimulate your milk! But they only provide S26 so if you plan to feed your BB another brand, you'd have to bring your own.

Your husband might want to bring a sleeping bag and extra pillows. The extra 'bed' was just an ordinary couch and according to my husband, it was extremely uncomfortable. Also, they did not provide food for him.

Hope that helps!

Hi Adeline,

I also seen my gynea at TPS but I didn't take the premier plan leh. Didn't know that in TPS U can only take premier which for my case is not that way.

Hi Jocelyn,

Service for A1 ward is good..nurses are friendly & helpful even in the wee hrs when I call for their help if we need them to feed my girl. Even the cleaners & food service staff are very friendly & polite.

I stayed for 3 days as mine is C-Section & yes the food is so-so so you might wana get your MIL to cook & ask your hubby to bring for U to eat.

They do allow half breastfeed half formula as usually 1st few days your milk flow will not come yet so might not be able to satisfied your baby. Mine I told the nurse I want 100% breastfeed but becos not much milk in the first few days & my girl is really impatient to suckle onto my breasts so no choice sometimes will call for nurse to feed her formula. Like what cupofchia said they only provide S26 but since I don't intend it to be long term feeding so I don't bother to bring my own brand of formula. But if by formula feeding, I notice the nurses will bring back to nursary to feed by cup so after 2nd day I ask the nurse to teach me how to feed by cup so that I can do it myself.

Oh ya..my hubby also complained about the sleeping condition. Only a couch that can stretch out to be like a bed but very hard so not comfortable. We did saw that the premier room seems much nicer but can't remem have sofa to sleep on or not.

Another note is now Level 8 which house A1 & premier wards are under reno so maybe you will get to hear some disturbance in your stay there. Other than that, I would say the overall service level of KKH is definitely good.

Hope these info helps.[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi ladies, thank u for e info! I'm with kkh, at specialist clinic b n thinking of switching to tps. Thank u for yr input, really helps. Can i ask if they do maternityward tours? also, what are e diff betwn e classic n premier package? N r these packages just for delivery or incl mthly consultation chrgs after signing e package? How far along were u when u signed e packge?

Hi Marrissa,

When I gave birth last Dec & around Nov time ask for a tour I was told becos of H1N1 KKH don't provide tour of maternity wards for fear of spreading germs. But now with H1N1 colour code down to green I'm not sure if KKH had changed this rule. Try asking the counter nurse when you do your payment & they can advise U.

I'm not very sure about the difference between classic & premier package so can't provide any answer to you. Maybe you can wait for other mummies to advise or you can head to 1st floor of KKH where admission is done & ask the admission staff there.

Oh...these package are for delivery determine what type of room you want...from what I understand KKH don't provide package for monthly checkups. I remembered the nurse telling me we can only sign up for admission package around 32 weeks of pregnancy.

Hope all these info helps.[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi marrissa

The difference between the Classic and Premier packages is the person(s) attending to you during your delivery.

If you take up the Premier package, your gynecologist will be present throughout your delivery. But if you take up the Classic package, your gynecologist will only be present to help you deliver your BB (i.e. cut the cord, stitch you up, etc.)

I took up the Classic package and the midwives were with me throughout my delivery. They were very friendly and helpful. My gynecologist only came when I was about to deliver my son.

It really depends on what you are after.

Thank you for your information.

May i know what are the range of bills that you have paid for the package at KKH ? is A1 ward expensive ?

I am with TPS and my doctor is quite nice. I am worry that if i choose classic, the doctor on duty will not be good / rough. then you know they will check cervic and its will be embrassing if the doctors on duty which you are not familiar keep doing the action. (doctor on duty may be 2 or 3 different person) Just wanna know if the doctor on duty can dont check and midwife do the job ?

I was with KKH, A1 under private suite. I delivered my son natural with epidural and vacuum. My son has a little bit fracture at the right arm during delivery because he is quite big size 3.7kg but i am only 155cm. So during our stay, the baby & the bone specialists also visited him for few times and taken x-ray etc.

However, the total bill came out to be not a lot as i expected. We paid S$2500 as deposit, but end up after the CPF claims etc, the hospital still refund us around SGD$700 from the deposit which post to us around two weeks after i discharge. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I like the mid-wife, nurses at the A1 ward. And we need not pay additional for lactation consultant. They also called me few times to check if i have any problem with breast feeding after i discharge. I will go back to KKH again when i have my 2nd.
