Hi my son is 2yrs8months.
He is unable to string together short phrases of two to four words like: bye bye mommy, I want milk...
He can only speak single and the most 2 syllables.
He eye contact when he talk with us, but in some alien language we don't understand.

He likes to play with cars and trains. But he doesn't like to line them in straight line.
He used to like food, but he is now on a 8 months food strike, refusal to eat anything except meiji biscuits and rice+soup.
He doesn't like to play with kids, mostly playing by himself.
He also likes to use his hands to bang his head whenever he is upset or frustrated.
Does all these account to symptoms of autism ?

I am really so worried right now, because the teachers at PCF said so, he might have mild autism.

is there anyway to let speech delay kids adapt CC easy? my son 5 yrs old just started and he is always running out of class...

Hi Hippo78 and serene87,

Have you try consulting with a Paediatric or Child development unit in KKH or NUH ( get referral from Polyclinic)?

my son got cdu appointment in Dec and he is already attending eipic... but last Wednesday I just started the cc for him.. he can sit still in the class.
was wondering any parents just leave them in the class with the teacher and at outside see how they behave?
cause I scared if I do that then he might be scared then dun want to go school

Hi serene87,
It really depends on your child. There are some who can sit thru a class, some with tolerant teachers who simply allow the children to do what they want or some CCs that insist on shadows.

My son had to be shadowed when he was in CC and only spend 3 hours in school. It will be better if the teachers give constructive feedback telling you what your child can do or cannot do instead of getting disillusioned about the abilities of our children.

Hippo78, the descriptions of your child do fit the autistic traits. Do get help early so that your child can improve.

My son is now in mainstream P2. Although he still have some traits but is generally doing fine. I help him with his communication skills doing braintraining to the point that he has little issues with communicating. In the past, he could not even answer questions. During the recent parent-teacher conference, I was told that he did well in his stimulus-based conversation exam, which is very comforting to know.

Do not give up on your children. Their conditions can be improved.

now I am thinking to let him be in school for 3 hours without helper around. then must she what is the feedback from teachers cause she have been following him for 5 days the only thing is he can sit for 5 min to draw then start to wonder around.

Hi Serene 87,
As u mentioned, your child is able to sit for 5 mins and will soon wander off. He sounds very similar to my son when he was younger. I had to put him on a stroller and I pad when we went out.

When I started to do dietary intervention with him, he became better. And only when he started to receive brain training for a year, then he started to be able to sit still and communication skills started to blossom.

My son was almost kicked out by his CC but now he is able to go to a mainstream without shadow. To me, his diet and brain training helped a lot

may I know what is the diet u gave him and also the brain training?

Hi Serene87,
I put him on GAPS diet. Basically, no carbs and sugar, just lots of veg, good fats and meat. His meals consisted of cooked veg leaves (soft) meat with fats with garlic ( raw) and soup. In GAPS diet, u do not give supplements, only real food and probiotics.

Brain training is neurofeedback that helps the brain produces desired brainwaves to help them concentrate, speak etc.

may I know no carbs means what type of food never take?
then the fees for brain training is roughly how much?

Hi!
No carbohydrates means no rice, bread, root veg eg. carrots, pumpkins etc.

The brain training is 60 per session.

may I know the brain training address too, I don't mind to have any parent PM me so we can share info, our child is suspected mild autism. Thanks.

Hi. My son is entering pri school next year. Am thinking of getting a shadow teacher for the first couple of months. Does anyone have recommendations or experience in getting a school shadowing support for your kids? How much are the charges roughly? Thank you.
