Any SAHM staying at Yishun?

Hi
i'm not a SAHM as well but living in yishun. My boy is 5 mths now...
happy.gif

Hi Yishun Mummies

Let me start the ball rolling....
happy.gif

Which PD are u using for your bb? My boy is seeing Dr Ooi at the Ooi Baby & Child Clinic at Blk 400+. Just checking if there's other alternative nearby cos his charges not cheap....

hi mummies,
can i join this club?i m a SAHM staying at CCK.but i always go back to yishun as my mum stays there.

Hi ixwong and all other mommies in this thread!
Wow, the same month. My boy born on national day at KK. So for PD, I bring him back to KK for jabs.
I am still bf but don't like to feed direct. So I express daily.

hi mummies,

can i join too? i am a FTWM with a 3.5 mths old girl.

ixwong, wat a coincidence... my girl was delivered by dr ang and visiting ooi baby & child clinic too. but we're seeing dr foo, the wife instead of dr ooi.

Welcome, Faith.

Hi Sincere,
Welcome. what is FTWM??
Hee, so coincidental! u seeing Dr Foo? We opt for Dr Ooi after an unpleasant encounter w Dr Foo. When my son was abt 1 mth old, brought him to see Dr Foo cos he was constipated. Wanted the PD to help clear his system but she told us it's not serious and sent us home. After another day, my son lost his appetite and we brought him to Dr Ooi this time, and the choke-up was so bad that we spent 4 hrs at the clinic clearing the poo. Needless to mention, my boy went thru quite a traumatic experience which could have been avoided shd she had done something when we 1st visit *heart pain*...

Small Bell
Me too, still bf, but not total BF. Been supplementing as I have returned to work. Milk ss dropped to meet only 50% of my son's dd. I also never latch on, been expressing for past 3 mths.

My son is seeing Dr Ang from TMC.

Bought him to Dr Foo before but ultimately.. it's still back to Dr Ang.

FTWM means fulltime working mum right? :) Heehee... just guessing.

Hi ixwong,
Will there be any problem with mixing bm and fm at the same time? Does your bb prefer either one of the milk?

Any mommies join any playgroup in our area? I am looking around to see if I can also join.

thanks ecin, yup... FTWM means fulltime working mum. hey u're partial SAHM, rite? how nice eh... did u hv bad encounter wif dr foo? i hope not.

ixwong,
sad to hear yr bad encounter wif dr foo. so did u sign up the vaccination package wif ooi clinic? i did without the chicken box vaccine.

envy mummies who r still bf. my girl is already on total FM after i start work. i latched her on only when she wakes up midnite. but she has been sleeping thru this few nights. so, dunno is it good news or bad. hehe...

hi small bell,

i remember advice fr dr ong eng keow (pd b4 my girl start seeing ooi clinic) that u shd not mix bm and fm at the same time. u can do it one after another though...

HELLO MUMMIES.

so happy to chance upon this thread...
happy.gif

i stay in yishun but am a FTWM. (so can i join this thread??)

My gal is coming 1 year in December!!
happy.gif

i am a first time mummy, so hope to learn from all.

when she was abt 1-2m, brought her to see dr ooi n the another pd when she was abt 6month (dunno wats the name, also blk 400plus, roadside, near bicylce shop)

both times but didnt get better so its back to her original pd at Kinderclinic (Mt A). (i tot if can get one near home, more convenient but alas their medicine didnt work on my gal)

i breastfed my gal till shes abt 10months then supply dipped drastically due to work stress
sad.gif

hi small bel,
u meant bm n fm in the same bottle???
like wat sincere says, best separate... then can 'test' for allergy..
but some pd says its ok to mix esp if the bb is TBF n u want to intro FM to him.

most babies here are so 'young' . i wd love to meet up n give your darlings a cuddle.. i miss 'younger babies'
happy.gif

playgroup:
the only one i know in this area is Baby Jumper Gym (which my gal is on). dunno if you call that a playgroup.
woodlands have 'MY Gym'
i am also keen to find out if there are other options nearby.

Hi Sincere!
Thanks for your info. It's good that your girl is sleeping through. I started training my boy at 2mths, quite difficult initially as he wake up and cry 10mins every hr but I ignore the cries. Then after about 5days, he learn to sleep through.

sincere,
after my 3m ml, i express b4 i leave for work n during work. abit siong.. imagine waking up at 5am to express!!

small bell.
great that ur boy sleep thru!!! i didnt manage to train my gal to do that. at 11months, she still waits abt 2-3x at nite to drink water
sad.gif

Hi lachesiz,
Welcome to this thread! We welcome all mommies, not necessary SAHM. Oh yes, I also intend to send my boy to Baby Jumper when he is 6mths. Is your girl in the 'Little Walker' class? There is Tumble Tots in Woodland, playgroup from 2yrs onwards. Check out their website: http://www.tumbletots.com.sg/

Yesterday I just found out that we can actually rent toys. They charge base on per month basis. It's a great way to save space and keep our little ones busy wz new toys all the time. The webpage: http://www.rent-a-toy.com/
Has any mommies try renting before? I am on the waitlist for a Exersaucer, got to wait 2mths before I get to rent.

hi small bell,

thanks for the welcome.
she still crawler class...

aiya,if this thread started 3wks back, can pass my exersauer to you...
sad.gif

Hi All, Glad to come across this thread. I am a FTWM living in Yishun and my son turns 7 mths next weekend.

He goes to The Child Specialist Medical Centre at Blk 415, as we like Dr Lai who gives great practical advice on caring for him.

Small Bell & lachesiz : where about is baby jumper gym??

char77, faith
HARLOW!!

not bad, this thread just started few days n already so many mummies 'report'
happy.gif

as an IT idiot, i dunno how to do the table format but can start the list going till some IT savvy mummy comes to the rescue:

1)ixwong, 3month, boy
2)smallbell, 3month, boy
3)sincere, 3.5month, girl
4)twinkle22, 4month, boy
5)yippy, 5month, boy
6)char77, 7month, boy
7)lachesiz, 11month, girl
8)ecin, 3year, boy
9)mummy69
10)faith

hope i got the info rite.
seems like 'boys rulez' haha... sincere, ur gal got many choices liao..
mummies, post ur darling photos n let me go ooooo n aaaaaa

BJG.
(at orchid country club, the other in the east)
my gal started when she was abt 8months.
they focus on right brain stimulation.
got songs, flashcards, gym n mini 'activities'.(which focus on sensory, visual, gross motor skills, cognitive etc)
the tr quite good, will explain the objectives (n give u ideas on follow up activities at home)(but mine abit loud)of each activity n normally the class very small (abt 5-8 bb)
but classroom physical size small .
n got termly progress card!! haha.

to date, my gal does learn quite abit n gives me some ideas to do follow up.

the ple there very nice.

i have seen several mummies with young bb (non-crawlers, abt 5-6month) joing us for trial. most of the time, the bb just look on ... think too young to be more involved.

i have tried others n wouldnot say bjg is top of the league. but they are good enuf for my gal n one big plus point is is soooo near.
no harm going for trial to experience it.
gug at united square is another good option, but i feel is more suited for elder bb n toddlers.

Oh thanks for your advise that younger bb are not suitable for the class. I am thinking of sending boy at 6mths, too early to learn anything. In this case, I will wait till 8mths. What's gug?

<img>

hi all,
my gal is currently 9 mths and we had seen Dr Lai when she was abt 2 mths for feeding purposes.it was nt a gd experience.was back to her oringal pd at gleneagles again.

1)ixwong, 3month, boy
2)smallbell, 3month, boy
3)sincere, 3.5month, girl
4)twinkle22, 4month, boy
5)yippy, 5month, boy
6)char77, 7month, boy
7)lachesiz, 11month, girl
8)ecin, 3year, boy
9)mummy69
10)faith, 9month, girl

Hi Faith, now we have one more gal to add to the list.

What happen to mummy69 who started this thread?

small bell,
Your boy so cute! I like the last picture in specs!!

Hee...I just mixed the BM w FM if BM is not enough, but will warm up the BM first before adding hot water. So far my boy ok leh, although some PD don't recommend (I remember reading somewhere that it's ok to do so). My boy no preference as long as it's milk, but he hate water and will also drink if feed via spoon
happy.gif

Wah, u let your boy CIO ah, brave mummy. I let my boy sleep in sarong and only transfered him to cot after he's sound asleep. So far so gd, he can sleep 6 hr in a stretch and wake up only for 1 nite feed.

Sincere
we didn't sign up the vaccination pkg w ooi. Took the 6-in-1 vacc with my GP which is just next door at $100 per jab, including consultation. Cheaper by $40....:p

Lachesiz
thanks for the info on bjg. Was wondering when would be an appropriate time to send my boy for some activity class.

Re flash card
did any mummies buy the flash cards from the recent bulk purchase? I did but have not started my boy on it yet *lazy mummy*.

Picture of my son
340126.jpg

smallbell,
love the last two pics.. so kawaii.
i think most mummies log in during weekdays so hope to 'hear' from mummy69 aka 'founder' next week .
happy.gif

ixwong,
aiyo, the pic looks like he posing as a james bond wannabe... so cute.
(btw, is ur son 'ix'?)

smallbell,
when to send for such class depends on bb.
personally, i feel some bjg activities not suited for younger bb eg; hammering, sorting, stacking, 'jigsaw'. but there are some like photographic memory, sensory, sound, n tracking whic is suitable.
when younger bb join us for trial, they will vary tat activity to suit that bb.
we do monkey bars n the usual tunnel, slide, ladder, ball etc for the gym
flash cards: maths, chinese, english, encyclopedic.
so, if u are keen , no harm sending ur darling there abt 6months.. but i found more $$ worth if later ..

GUG-Growing Up Gifted.
they are 'different' in the sense they do zoophonics (but i feel too brief) n science experiment n art n craft.
quite interesting... but i feel toddlers will appreciate n learn more.

for gym , can try gymboree, mygym, the little gym (cant rem, its at forum)/

playzwork also gaining popularity.
some ple swear by Shicida.

for music, popular choices are Kindermusik,JWT etc my girl n hb loves kindermusik!!!!

ur darling still 'young'.. got enuf time to find out more!!

ixwong,
Same here, my boy hate to drink plain water. I am thinking of using flash cards but have not bought anything yet. How many cards did u buy from the bulk purchase, come wz pic &amp; words?

Lachesiz,
Yeh, I notice that thread move very fast on weekdays. How do u keep track of replies or of new post? I tried using the search last 12,24 or 72hrs but still not easy to find. Then I switch on the email notification and could be up to like 2000 mails a day, jam up the email box.

ixwong,
i bot as my gal loves flashcards (she very attentive at that segment at bjg)
i used to do those picture cards wif her. n the chinese flashcards . she loves it. she will cry if i stop...
sad.gif

have started the 'GD' cards with her. but i not doing the glenn doman style coz i lazy, plus working n i very blur... :p
so using my own 'modified' version. :p

i dunno if her love for the flashcards is just a phase.. hopefully not...
she loves 'reading' too!

smallbell,
i will add this thread to 'my favorites'-link. so just click on that shortcut will do.

the flashcards are only words.. GD dun advocate pictures (i think so)
we got 600 english words plus 101 maths cards.
good deal coz the glenn doman set can burn abt 1K in your pocket!!

ix,
my gal initially also dun like water.. but we keep trying n trying ...now she loves water... like me
happy.gif

Lachesiz
no lah, my boy no English name...we call him HAOWEN. "ix" was the 1st userid I had when I first started work, stick w me till now
happy.gif

Will continue to perserve in my strive to get him to drink more water. He hasn't poo for past 2 days. seem like I must try harder...

ix,
oic
happy.gif

as long as ur bb is drinking his milk, shd not be too concern abt him drinking water.. but good that u perservere.
when my gal started, even drinking 5ml is a cause for celebration!!
now at nite, she will wake up ave 2-3x to drink water... can drink abt 200ml at nite! strange gal.

some parents add gripe water to 'lure' the bb to drink.. n when they are older, they give diluted juices.
but personally, i prefer my bb to drink plain water.
jia you!

thanks for the link small bell, gld to know its at occ, now got something for us to do when hb goes to the range.

water: yes i agree, plain water is the best. but if its hot, i give diluted barley water. I was really mean previously when he did not like water, i used a syringe (so bad right?). I was desperate late, as he did not poo for 20 days!!!!

Here are some pics of my boy (hope this works...as am it un-savy)

340409.jpg
340410.jpg
340411.jpg

Ix,
Not to worry about the poo. My longest record is 4days without poo. Did u shave your boy's hair since birth?

Lachesiz,
Just curious if u give any juices? or do u add the fruits into the cereal?

Hi Char77,
Your boy got very cute dimples and the pic with your dog staring at him is so funny.

Wow! your boy can beat the longest record for no poo (20days). I heard that the gynae will give some kind of medication to make him poo, is that true?

Hee...
my boy finally poo yesterday. Got to eng..eng.. him for 10 mins after his milk feed before poo. Naughty naughty.

Small bell,
ya, I shaved my boy's hair when he is 1 mth old. He got quite a bit of hair when born and they were growing like wild grass. Intend to shave him again next mth when he's 4 mth cos his hair now only growing at the top and side, patchy patchy one...

Char77,
20 days really v long leh. U didn't bring him to PD ah? Mine got real constipated when he was on Similac, now better with Friso (cheaper too)
happy.gif

wow... so many cute boys here. hehe...

lachesiz,
any tips to get baby to drink water? mine alwiz refuse to drink. i have to spoon feed, but that also not much. sigh...

small bell and lachesiz,
i hv add both of you to my msn list. mine is [email protected]

Hi Ix &amp; Small Bell, Took him to pd but as he is TBF she said not to worry as BM is easily digested and that he will poo when there is sufficient amt!! She was right!! The day the "levee broke" (we were out at OUB Plaza shopping) it was really messy!!! Now its better as he's on semi solids so take lots of fruits and vegies
happy.gif

Hey Mummies, Kidzloft having sale...may go later, as love their wooden toys and play wear.

char77,
BIG EYES!!! next time sure electrify many gals.
i didnt notice the dog in the 2nd pic. small bell u so sharp.
20 days!! tats the longest i have heard! wow.
kidsloft: nice toys, gd service. they had a 50% sale abt 2 or 3 weeks back then 30% then ??.
so did u buy anything?
happy.gif

smallbell,
i dun give my gal bottled juices, but when shes abt 7months, i 'squeeze''mashed''sieved' the fruits n mix in cereal. tot she can get her fruits in this way..

ix,
so good.. so much hair.. my gal turning one still only got few strands of hair
sad.gif

sincere,
not tips lah... mention above.. add gripe water or like char77, barley water... unless ur bb older, then add diluted juices.
even when my gal refuse water, i perservere n give only plain water n barley when shes abit 'heaty'.
dun worry, some bb at more than 1yr, still dun like plain water n they are fine! so ensure ur darling is hydrated thru other means... FM/BM, cereal/porridge, fruits etc

Char77,
Thks for telling us the sale. I will also go, got to get some Safety 1st stuff.

Lachesiz,
I shall try your method. Fresh fruits always better than bottle juice. Sincere and I were chatting and we talk about feeding bb wz avocado. Any idea if we should buy the green ones or purple ones?

ix,
I am also going to shave bb's hair next mth(4th mth). Hope will grow back thicker after that.

cher,
Welcome!

Hi Mummies,

I'm new to this thread my girl is 18mth but I'm a FTWM.

Got any recommendation on playgroup around Katib cause that where I stay

smallbell,
u might want to wait awhile more before giving fruits to bb. some recommend 4m, some 6m n NO citrus till 1yr.
avocado..if ripened shd b very darkgreen/brown n feel soft.
good first fruit is banana, avocado.
then can progress to nectarines, plums, prunes, peaches, pears, apricots n then papaya.

when my gal was younger, i cut the fruits, used those mash strainer n mash the fruits, give her the juices mix in cereal.(very tiring task esp for harder fruits).

u might want to do the 4day wait rule to test for allergy.

hi cher,
WELCOME

hi EOng,
your girl is sooo PRETTY!! more pics!!!
