Any comments on Music for Young Children

Dear mommies,

i'd be happy to help out in teaching your young child! I love children of all ages and am passionate about teaching music.

I am a graduate from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Uni of Sydney with a Bachelor Degree of Music Studies (Performance) majoring in Piano. I specialize in preparing students for the ABRSM examinations or even piano at leisure basis for (Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced, Refreshers.)

I also tailor my lessons for the individual in preparing them for the right repertoire to progress well. I specialise in teaching Sight-Reading, Aural as well as Theory for Grades 1-8 of all ages.

I am willing to travel to the student's premises at their convenience, although staying in the east would be preferrable.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any enquiries!

Just to give a feedback on MYC.
My boy is in sunbeams term 2 now. He is a very active boy and I was worried he can't concentrate in class. I'm surprised that the teacher and curriculum managed to capture his attention and he picked up concepts easily. Music was made fun and alive which suits my boy. There's homework but nothing too difficult at all. Can finish in less than 5 mins. The main thing is practicing on the piano I feel. There's a difference if my boy practiced everyday vs when we were on holiday and no practice at all.
Hope the feedback helps!

Hi would like to provide feedback too.my daughter has been attending Myc jurong east since jun last yr.she learns about notes based on interesting animal characters, theory, solfege and a little instrument playing.i think it provides some music appreciation and learning to play piano as well.will recommend this to everyone.you can google on music for e young to find out more as they also have annual concert.however we are short of starting a sunbeam class (5-6 yrs old) on sats class.this can be an introductory level for e newbies yet the front part can be reinforcement for my daughter who started earlier, those of u who are keen in getting yr 5 n 6 yrs old a try can call up this music for e young jurong east for those staying in e west;)

Hi mummies, anyone has any feedback on MYC Hougang or Thomson branch? Am considering sending my 3.5 YO there... As I've to commit to an entire term of fees even if i drop out halfway, just wanna do more research about the quality at those branches.

How does it compare with Yamaha's course? My friends hv been recommending tt actually.

Hi Mummies,

I attended the trial class at MYC Sembawang with Teacher Fang. I found the class very interesting and engaging and offers opportunities to bond with our kids. However, yes, the course fees is expensive and it takes quite long, min 4.5 yrs to complete before our children can take ABRSM grade 2 practical and theory grade 3 exam and parents needs the stamina to sit in for every lesson for these years, but ultimately, parents can register for the exams too! I am not musically trained so I cannot tell the difference for normal music schools or MYC, so I am also torn between MYC and others like Cristofori or Yamaha, I find Yamaha too many with 10 per group and wonder if my 4 yr old boy can sit still behind an electrone and have lesson for 1 hour each week. I am not sure with Cristofori as there is no trial, but the teacher really matters as if the teacher kills the interests of our children in music with hurting words or actions, then it may destroy the genius in our child. So I think it is better to have a course where we can accompany so we can observe?

Anyone can give more advice? I am thinking of MYC Sembawang as it is the nearest, but there are some bad comments about 1 teacher there? May I know the teacher's name? My child's teacher will most probably be Teacher Fang, any comments about her?

Anyone knows about this Semipi Music school and any comments about this school? Seems quite established from its website....

Any mummies with kids in MYC Tampines? I've been calling and messaging its Facebook to try to register for Sunrise class but there's no response at all. Is the Tampines branch still existing?

Hi Mommy

MYC Tampines is still operating. However the teacher's time slot is full and no more slots for Sunrise at the moment.

You may wish to consider MYC East Coast. A confirm Sunrise class is starting on 17 May, Sat, 11am. 1 more vacancy available.

Hi mummies, am looking to start my son with MYC (sunshine). Does anyone have any experience with Teacher Esther at MYC Jurong?
Guess the thing that I dun like is that you have to pay a deposit to commit to 9 months but it does not offer a trial class.

Hi All

Am planning to enrol my son whom is turning 5 next year to MYC and I saw past reviews that they do have a branch in Sembawang.. Do you mean sharing which area in Sembawang as I looked up their website, it is only available in AMK..

TIA

Kelly
