Cat! So farnie! I predicted the same development for Golden Bride as well! Hahaha...

Well, after I CUT off all my friends, I have 120 people! And, I don't even have a function room! LOL!! :p Well, I'm going to persuade my husband to not invite the friends.. just relatives and very close friends. Otherwise, it'll end up like last year. During the 3rd session for my elder daughter last year, my husband and I were humanphobic. We ended up hiding in the room. :p

Hey, Thanks for the links.. I'll check them out as well.

Hi Cyn,... sigh, that is my problem. I can make a thousand excuses for my daughter being too close to my maid, the most valid would be a bad back, and also the 2nd pregnancy taking the life out of me in the last 10 months what with spotting and MS.. but at the end of the day, I'm to blame.

Anyways, we're making a trip to India end of the year and want to bring my elder daughter (without the maid of course) so once I'm out of confinement and my leg recovers, I'm going to really make an effort to bond with my daughter.

I also intend to go back to work probably in 2 years time. See how la.

I don't know what other nice Korean shows there are... I stop renting from the video shop because they always end up on channel 55, and when that happens, I have nothing else to watch on 55!

kimmies,
i think this is what happen when we watch too much series, we already know what is going to happen. hahaha. but no choice still have to watch. later i'm going to get my latest rental of hk series. hk series i still prefer to watch disc cos in cantonese. cannot stand when they dubb in mandarin, all the feeling is diff. esp the abalone show, the 2nd wife scolding so diff in mandarin.

wah 120 people !! i already force myself to stop inviting. and that is half of yours. hahaha. no choice cos my function room is small. lucky hubby not inviting his frens.

jamie,
is cherylshuen good ? I've not tried. i usu order from the patissier but i was abit late in ordering so they cant take any orders
sad.gif
i thot pine gdn is quite good too. not cheap also right ?

Re: maid
i dont let my maid take care of my girl even with my supervision. hahaha. firstly she is quite new and moreover i think she cannot handle the baby. housework alone she already cannot do properly not to mention still need to take care of the baby. that day she told me "mum why the baby always cry ? i hear the baby cry i also want to cry" my god .. she sound like she got post natal depression not me.. hahaha. very scary. later she throw my baby down how ?? and to imagine she is a mother of 2 kids and in her prev hsehold in philippines she took care of 6 children ?? i really wonder her biodata true or not. hubby say must train her, but i really doubt i will do it.

cat
i hv not tried cherylshuen too but her cakes really look very marvelious lor. pine gdn is not bad & not cheap too, but definitely cheaper than cherylshuen lah keke...

i dont hv a maid, but even if i do, i also wont let her take care of my kids. afterall she's here to help do housework & not babysit so i really question their capabilities lor. esp its not their own children, i worry that they may ill treat the kids. think i'm those paranoid mum ba, heard too many stories abt maid. haha... i believe nobody can take care of my kids better than i do.

Hi Cat

ur maid v weird lei.. mother of 2 and yet say baby cry she want to cry.. cannot make it la..my 1st maid panic when my baby cries. and when change diapers, she practically RAN away when baby poops/pee upon removal of diapers!! Can't even tell hot from cold vice versa, test hot water flask heat by pouring directly on her fingers!!..sent her back liao. too dangerous having her ard.. 2nd maid also jialat, mother of 3 but found out later she got a maid herself to help her so when she came, she doesn't even know how to carry baby properly.. mdm tai-tai!.. now waiting for maid no.3, hopefully better.

oh ya.. i agree on HK series is best watching from originals with cantonese!! definitely alot better.. mandarin no fun liao.. tat's y i dun ve cable for chinese serials..

btw, the abalone show v nice, now they are showing another show similar to the abalone show with exactly the same casts and other additions but storyline is diff, casts roles also diff.. now showing in HK TV and also Msia cable. i saw a few epi in msia, v nice.. waiting for the entire show to be completed, then get the dvd!

Hi Cat, hahaha.. I watched the abalone show twice. Hee.. once in cantonese and another time in mandarin. Unfortunately, my cantonese is not fantastic so, sometimes, I will switch to mandarin. :p

Hi Cyn, this is my first maid.. and she's also a mother of 2. Her strength definitely lies in taking care of children.. my husband was joking that both the maid and I are the same.. just as disorganised when it comes to taking care of the house. I agree with you and Jamie.. maid is supposed to do housework, not babysit. Unfortunately, my work was very demanding and stressful and I don't have the luxury of having hands-on parents.. they are travelling literally more than 6 months a year.. so no choice la, got to rely on the maid. It got better in the last 6 months, company gave me a blackberry, then I could go back on time.. but, LOL, I still had to work from home and was ultimately worse-off because I brought the stress home! So ultimately, I Quit! Hahaha.... Became an official SAHM 1 month ago!

kimmies
its definitely worth it being a sahm! my #1 is very close & sticky to me till i feel there's no time for my #2. this kind of bonding is $$$ cant buy lor.
yes, now i really dont hv the luxury to go on holidays or shopping like before & really cant splurge on any luxuries stuff liao coz hubby sole breadwinner but its definitely worth it. kids grow up very fast & before we know it, they may no longer need our company anymore. so we treasure every moment we hv now.

Cat, have you tried the cakes from room for desserts before? I ordered these cakes for Christmas for my clients last year, but never tasted them before. Wanna know if it actually tastes nice..

Hi Jamie, yes, I was struggling whether to do it or not, but finally decided. Glad I made the decision.
happy.gif
But I'll be looking to do some freelance or contract work.. don't wanna end up cooped up in the house. :p

jamie,
ya same like you i dont like the maid to take care of the baby, at least not without my supervision. i think in a way i'm fortunate to be able to have either myself or my mom to take care of baby.

re: hk series
i checked, the new series come only up to disc 4. the shop say prob 1 mth time then whole series will come all.

kimmies,
i also watched twice. hahaha. once on disc and once on ch55.

Ya i've tried the cakes at roomfordesserts before. not bad. i tried the carrot cake and the choc. so i'm ordering them to give to my relatives. not cheap. 500g cake + wordings on it = $21 each.

Hi Cat, I have decided to be boring and just get back the same ol' Gobi ones for one month to give away to my friends. My friend called me yday and kept telling me to buy back the same type because she could remember how yummy it was and how cute it looked the last time. :p

So, I won't be getting whole cakes anymore... YAY! So glad I have decided.

Ladies, you know hor.. I was sooo shacked last night.. when the nanny came to knock at my door at 4AM for feeding, I couldn't wake up!! Then I jumped out of bed at 6AM wondering why my son never cry for milk! Luckily there was milk in the fridge for the nanny to use! I actually can't wait for the nanny to go back... when that happens, I'm sure my son will not give me chance to sleep so much!

kimmies, now is the best time to rest more since u ve a nanny to help u. my baby sleep with me in the same bed since newborn (although that's not we original planned for.. we actually bought a babycot for him), i find BF him at nite tat way easier for him n me.. i usually lay down to BF him until both of us doze off (but of course have to be careful not roll over him la).. now my boy selfservice to BF at nite since he knows how it works now!! haha! although i know it will be difficult to make him sleep on his own now but i feel he will outgrow that someday and i enjoy the closeness both of us share. seeing him grow and learn new skills everyday is also something many working mums can't enjoy lor.

Hi Cyn.. I tried the lying down position the other night.. but failed. hahaha.. ended up perspiring.. I'll try again next time.
happy.gif

Hi Ueno! welcome back!

Hi Kimmies

u ve to lie down like cleopatra, ie, sideways with one arm supporting, try to put a pillow under ur supporting arm (armpit all the way to under your breast so that your breast/nipple will not be too low for your baby to reach. And for baby's position, baby's face and tummy has to face u (ie. ur tummy and baby tummy facing each other).. its a very comfortable position for both of mummy n baby.. i usually watch TV, surf internet while nursing him in this position.. my mum says "i didn't know BF can be so relaxing and can even multi-task at the same time" hehehe

but hor, if your baby has reflux, then ve to be careful bcos such position is relatively flat unlike other positions whereby babies are carried. After feeding, best to keep upright for 15-30 mins. my baby has very bad reflux even till now, although its alot lesser now as compared to when he was younger. We used to carry him upright after each feeding for abt 45min-1hr, so u can imagine how tiring it was for me during those days when he drinks every 2-3hrs.

Hi Cyn.. I cannot be so relaxed when BFing because I am in pain most of the time! Hahaha... The first 10 seconds of Bfing is the worst, that is what I call the Shooting Pain! After that, the pain will subside. Did you experience this as well?

sometimes i felt the same as u.. only sometimes.. usually no pain.. i'm lucky, my boy got a big mouth, he suck very well. pain like urs only happen when he suck too long and too freq with short rest interval for mummy... i think once baby drinking hrs pattern move to every 4-5hrs, u will be alright.. shouldn't ve anymore pain.. so bear with it now loh.

hi all,
full mth party went well .. guest all enjoyed, baby was asleep most of the time despite being passed around ..
happy.gif

continental - ok la.. i didnt get to eat any but heard mixed reviews, some say nice some say so so ..

cherylshuen - disappointed .. cake is damn pretty but taste SUPER sweet. overall after cutting it's a disappointment in my perspective cos it's so ex. i expected more.

super busy .. will post again soon.

Hi Cyn, yes, my baby definitely has a very small mouth. And he is always making "cherry" mouth, by pursing his lips together.. so, when he takes in the breast, he only catches on abit of the aerola.. I am quite sure I am latching on correctly.. hopefully, when he grows bigger, this problem goes away.

Hi Cat, is the SheryShuen's cake made of marzipan coating? I had a look at her website and her cakes are pretty, I think cos she uses marzipan.. which is sugar and flour and dam sweet lor. Nevermind la, at least you can say you tried it!

hello, i'm meeting mango_pomelo & bb at parkway tomorrow afternoon 4pm at olio dome. anyone else keen pls PM me, sorry for the late notice, hv been busy preparing food for baby's solids recently. really headache...
happy.gif

kimmies,
when i say sweet, i already minus the coating, the cake itself is really sweet !!

heya cat, don't mean to rain on your parade.. but usually, the hair will drop. But, no worries, it will grow back. :p Your hair will also drop.. but just a little bit la.. anyways, from the pics, you seem to have extra to spare.. just like me, so you don't need to be concerned.

Wa, Cat! the baby celebration cake is sooooo cute and sweeeeeeeeeet!!.. i'm a kitty fan btw.. hehe ;P

the kitty figurine provided by u?

even the red eggs looks so professionally done..

ya, baby has big eyes!

cyn,
the kitty candle was provided by cherylshuen. red eggs done by hubby. the ones i did ended up pink and he had to recolor them again. hahaha.

cat

jamie, np, i like to meet other mommies so if you're in the area & want some company just let me know.

Hi ladies.. the underside of my left breast hurts really bad.. it feels bruised, but there is no bruise.. to top it off, I have chills and can feel the onset of a fever... do you think I have mastitis... and if so, what should I do?

hi kimmies,

oh no!..is it very hard or like a hard lump? does it hurt by just touching or pressing? i think it could be engorgement.. u better go to see a doc.. if infection get too bad, u may need to take antibiotics and stop bf.

for now, u can try applying HOT (but don't burn urself) towel on that area.. gently press on to it. this may help to disperse the engorgement. hopefully its not too late, many of my galfriends had it and has to stop BF as a result. some has to get a few jabs to recover. sometimes no pain symptoms, but mostly just high fever..

this is what i have always worry of.. luckily, my postnatal massage lady taught me how to massage my breasts and manually extract my milk to prevent engorgement. she can also help ppl to unblock milk ducts (which is common cause of engorgement) for free during postnatal massage sessions.. u want to try engaging her?

its very crucial your milk are fully drained after each feeding to prevent engorgement (as explained by the massage lady).. if a spot left undrained, over time, it will developed into an engorgement.. then later mastitis developed... common area is under the breast.

Hi cyn.. I did a spot of google-ing.. and figured, I either have blocked ducts or mastitis. The key was that I had body ache, but only on one side, which is the side where the breast hurt. My malay wrap lady came today for the last session, and she helped me to massage my breast using a very hot towel, and she's asked me to continue doing that once every 3 hours. I've taken panadol for the fever and the body pain... do you know if after I have taken panadol, can the baby still drink the milk that I have expressed? I am worried of passing him the fever so I stopped direct latching this morning..

how many panadol did u take? i remember my doc say its ok to take panadol.. to be safe, i think 1 each time is ok.. when i just delivered thru c-section, my gynae even gave me antibiotics (augmentin which is strong) and another painkiller (think synfex, blue color ones) although she know i BF... so ordinary panadols shld be rather safe.. but not sure for those stronger panadols eg. superstrong, migraine, menstrual pains, flu panadols.

u can also try to massage alittle on the area after applying the hot wet towel... try to massage and press to express the milk from that area.. u shld feel softer.. does ur malay lady help u to unblock milk ducts and massage the breasts area to check any engorgement? mine previously did that for me during each session. i find her very helpful. she will squeeze to see any block ducts and also massage to check for lumps.. then she help to massage to clear them.. she complained my breasts pumps not strong enough.. she recommended using Ameda brand and also says MUST manually express yourself to drain fully. btw, she uses hot stone instead of towel, the heat last longer.. which ultimately i also bought some fr her.. only a few bucks.
happy.gif

must be very careful.. many of my frens has to stop BF permanently bcos of this eventhough their intial plan was to BF for 6 mths, but how to when ur milk supply stop liao bcos of infection, cannot provide baby contaminated milk. some has pus n blood in milk (of course that's very jialat already one la)

HI cyn, can you give me your massage lady's contact.. if it still doesn't improve, then I'll give her a call.

O, and I checked with a doctor, she says it's ok to take panadol and BF at the same time, so I express and feed by bottle.. since I don't want to pass the fever to the baby. I take 2 panadols.. that's the normal dosage that is typically given to me.. I think it should be ok.

i ordered 2 of the wraps! can't decide on which color, so ordered 2 instead!hehe... anyway can change when wash one... (excuses to buy!!) ;P

Hi Cyn! Hahaha... my friend got one, and was reassuring me that the spree will close. She said "there was this mother who bought 2!". So it was you! Hahaha... yes, I took a long time to decide which colour.. and finally decided on pink.
happy.gif

hahaha! actually i'm not even buying for usage now.. my boy already coming to 1, he will definitely push it away if i am to use it.. i'm buying for my next pregnancy (no, i'm not preggie yet!).. super kiasu! :p

buy 2, never know whether next baby will have bad reflux like my boy or not, he will throw up everywhere like merlion.. i always endup drenched.

Hi Cyn.. you're too funny! You're preparing for your next one already!
happy.gif
Yes, you know, the thing I dislike most is burping because I have no patience, and my 2nd boy always ends up regurgitating some milk out..

Hi Phyllis.. welcome! where do you stay?
