I think that YMCA/YWCA is good.Personally been to YWCA and the kids really socialise and make friends there.Like for real.Not just in the same classroom day in and day out they DO get along of cos quarrels here and there but they get along and the teachers are nice and get them to settle in very quickly.
YMCA - never been there personally but kids seem happy, small environment like YWCA dunno bout the teaching and stuff.

Anyone heard of Nobleland Arts at Pemimpin Place (http://www.noblelandarts-learning.com.sg/)? Any feedback?
Hi vernie, we went to their open house few weeks back. Personally I prefer the upp Thomson branch as the centre is very new & nicely furnished as opposed to the pemimpin branch. Spoke to the principal & understand they are not allowed much renovation from their landlord. Like the curriculum bcos of inclusion of kindermusik. Still considering enrolling my son for next yr full day cc.
How much was the fee for the noblelandarts after susidy?
Currently my gal is with CDC and recently they just add in Gymkid as compulsory and the fee has been increased. So far my gal enjoy it but I am sourcing for a better one to enrol for my younger one and transfer my elder to be in the same sch.

It will definately be great if you make a trip down to the school to view the place, observe the teachers and environment etc. Ask the principal about their curriculum and see how the kids behave in school too.
There is an enrichment centre, Kidz Literacy Cove, that provides a few days sessions per week, or once a week kind. Although they are not very well known, but many high profile teachers are sending their kids there to learn, because of their small group size. Happy New Year to all!
I saw this new preschool called Giving Tre3 when I went to Thomson Plaza last week. I think their webpage is www.givingtre3.com. It was next to Thomson Plaza along the main road. Its a new preschool cum enrichment centre opening in Jan 2013. I decided to go drop by unannounced cos just nice my boy turning 3 next year and I want to put him in Nursery. The lady was very nice and friendly and showed me around the place.
I must say, I loved that place alot!! It was not very big with only 3 classrooms, 1 class being dedicated as a computer lab for their reading enrichment programme and 2 other classrooms. But it was very cosy! Like a home feeling. Their boss is also very sweet and she shared that she's been in the early childhood industry for more than 12 years. I don't really like those big organisations cos most of them just care about the business and making money but I could feel her passion for children even through talking to her.
They also have an outdoor area, although not very big with water and sand play. It was really nicely done up!
They also had reading enrichment and Pri Sch Preparatory programmes. Their reading enrichment programme is from Australia and its partially an online lesson. I think the name is Reading Eggs. Seems very interesting cos I went to the reading eggs website just now and the lessons were very fun. My girl quite likes to play on the computer and I think this will attract her. Besides having the online lessons, the teachers will also conduct activities in the classroom. I think will be a good balance.
They also have this Pri Sch preparatory programme that teaches grammar, maths, comprehension and creative writing to prep kids for P1. Sounds quite good too cos besides English and Maths, they also have this social and emotional learning lessons, something like learning how to listen, problem solving skills, focusing and paying attention etc. Which I feel my girl will need help in....she's quite hyper and can't really focus on a task for long.
They having opening promo now. Got waiver off registration fees and discounts too. I've decided to sign my kids up cos they have sibling discounts too.

Happy New Year, mummies! I would like to recommend that you check out Our Juniors' Schoolhouse in Thomson (33 Westlake Ave). I just enrolled my 17 month old son there after getting a waiver from MFS. So far our experience has been fantastic. The teachers are very friendly and gave me daily updates on my child - eating, napping, milk, class participation. My child is also adjusting very well. He does not cry when dropped off, is always smiling and chatty when we pick him up, and within the first 4-6 days at school, is already singing bits of Old MacDonald Had a Farm and Row Row Row Your Boat. One evening, just before going to bed, he pointed at me and daddy's eyes, nose, mouth, ears, face, head, hair, hands, legs, shoulders, and named them all correctly and repeatedly, as if to practise. While he's been quite a quick learner and already knows some of these things, it seems the school is teaching children well and further enhances their interest in learning, which I am very happy about.
School fees are also not sky-high like many new schools; this school has been established since 2003 as a Pat's Schoolhouse associate. Now it's under G8 education which means that Ms Patricia Koh who set up Pat's is back as its CEO.
Parents of PG, PN and N kids were invited to a curriculum chat last Sat and I must say the session exceeded expectations. We parents were engaged in fun classroom activities to have a taste of the different teaching methodologies for different subjects, and we got to hear all the teachers present and share something. The session gave me a lot of confidence in the teachers and curriculum.
Other aspects about the school that first really drew me to it was its big bungalow setting with it's own waterplay area, playground (for which they are getting new structures - a bonus!), playhouse, toddler ride-on cars and tricycles area, sandpit, and best of all, very well-organised and well-resourced classrooms that are bright and airy. Air-con is only turned on for naps. Otherwise, there's lots of natural sunlight and fresh air. Health record seems good. We had enrolled our child two days after a child in his class was diagnosed with HFMD, but with the great care and measures taken by the school, here was no further transmission. Phew.
I'm not related to the school in any way, by the way, but thought I'd like to share my good experience thus far for potential parents' consideration.

2. Sparkletots Blk 181
3. My world @ Bishan (YMCA)
I'm quite impressed by the My World@Bishan's principal Mrs Chiam. She could remember each and every child's name and their characteristics, and the things that happen to them that day. As such, she could share her observations of the kid in school to the caretaker who came to pick up the kid, so that they are kept updated of their progress in school.
As for Hampton, their admin asked me to prepare a cheque before my visit. That pretty much sums up my experience for Hampton.
Whereas for Sparkletots at Blk 181, seems like they are pretty new. Hasn't got the chance to speak to the principal yet as the teacher I spoke to over the phone informed that their principal Mrs Lau is very hard to get. The principal doesn't work on Sat even though the center is opened on sat, which means working parents have to take leave and be able to get hold of her for an appointment to find out more. Have left my number with them for the past 3 weeks, have yet to receive any return call from the principal.
Will continue to look around for more options.

My son is turning 2yo in another 2 months time. Would like to enrol him in a preschool near Thomson area.
I am looking at full day with bus transportation.
Shortlisted few childcare centers, but not possible to go to the centers.

My 4yo girl is currently with LiCdo Schoolhouse @ Thomson. I had sent her to some other child care centres around the area but she doesn't settle well. As such I was quite surprise that she was able to settle down fast in LiCdo and is now happy to go to school everyday. Also she has started eating various food instead of sticking to porridge every meal. The teachers are friendly and provide feedback readily. I am just glad that we had found the right homely child care centre for her.
