Hi mummies, I'm waiting to see PD with hubby n bb. Whole day bb been sleepy n quiet which is unusual. I also felt he was feverish. Thermometer readings all above 38 deg. I trusted my maternal instinct n asked hubby to bring bb to see doc. Hope he is fine. I wonder if I should let bb take the medication. .

standby or try essentials. There is a mummy who is very helpful and knows a lot about essential oils and how/what to use. Her name is Karen and you can find her at motherhood 'bulk purchase'. essential oils work faster and very safe to use as it is very pure.

When is Medical Attention Warranted for a Fever?
  • Infants less than 1-month-old -- Seek care right away for fever greater than 38 degrees Celsius in this age group. While waiting for care, breastfeed as often as the baby desires as your breast milk will also create antibodies against pathogens in your baby's mouth.
  • Infants from 1-month to 3-months-old, with a temperature greater than 38 degrees Celsius, if they appear ill. Again, breastfeed on demand while waiting for care.
  • Children between 3 months and 36 months, with a temperature above 39 degrees Celsius, if they appear ill.
  • All age groups -- temperature over 40.3 degrees Celsius.
If the fever is mild and your child have no other problems, he or she does not need treatment. Drink fluids and rest.

The illness is probably not serious if your child:
  • Is still interested in playing
  • Is eating and drinking well
  • Is alert and smiling at you
  • Has a normal skin colour
  • Looks well when their temperature comes down
Take steps to lower a fever if your child is uncomfortable, vomiting, dried out (dehydrated), or not sleeping well. Remember, the goal is to lower, not eliminate, the fever.

Thanks for the replies. We went PD which referred us to admit baby im hospital immediately. .the unpleasant part was baby was 38.4 at clinic upon registration and we waited for an hour! Then PD said she reprimanded staff as above 38 deg for below 3 months should be prioritised and treated as emergency. Anyway...upon admission in hospital, there was usual wait at A&E and we had to urge them to expedite since we were already held up at PD clinic. GOod thing was after we got a room ard midnight. .the temperature came down. Initially supposed to do blood test next morning but since no fever through the night, PD advised to spare bb from the tests and just observe. Final diagnosis..likely viral fever. Yes..through out my baby was drinking and sleeping as normal. .so his little body fought its own battle.
