!____Advice need on child constipation 2011

Hi.
My boy coming to three years old having Chronic constipation problem. Any pediatric gastroenterology doc to recommend. He have enlarged rectum and have been on lactulose for 6 months. Don't think its helping....and having large tools...worried sick ...PLEASE let me know or email me at [email protected] if you have any doc. to recommend.

my son also the same problem. mine started since 2 years old, lagi worse . always on suppositories every 5 days
i bring him to KKH to see specialist cos my son this year 4 years old liao so constipation for 2 years. on lactuose no use too. i go without GP referral and call up KKH to book appt to see the doctor at the children surgery centre. the doctors there are mostly treating children with constipation problem.
you may want to try them out. my son first few times still use suppositories and they tried methods each time to see whether he is responding to the treatment. maybe yours not as serious as mine

wow, mine now 8mth boy. constipating too for 2 mths, i think i shd seek help asap if not get worse for longer periods ....

he can poo every once a week, but hard initially followed by soft.
he is on total breastmilk. dun know what happen to his body after started solids at 6 mth

DS previously had chronic constipation. and was on lactulose too!! I cried everyday at work, mrt and even while walking home. We have run to pd countless times.. Im willing to pay whatever amount of money just to help DS solved this prob. But none could tell us the reason. We tried everything, from changing FM to drinking more water... Everything that anyone mentioned, we tried... but couldnt help... Itz trauma and total nightmare to me... Until a kind mommy from forum saved DS!!!! She even willing to contact me thru hp. Im so grateful to her until today.

DS's veg in the porridge was too badly overcooked. My mom cook the porriage for about 1.5 hours!!!! (That means the veg = rubbish) .. All i need to do was not to overcook his veg. And that solved the prob.

Mommies, maybe you need to try to scrutinise on your bb's diet. See anything unusual with it.

My boy who is 3yo has hard stools whenever he poo. He is currently on Gain IQ. Heard that Friso comfort may help as it has fibre, is it ok to mix Friso confort with Gain IQ?

I think it is better to try Friso comfort without mixing. Coz when u mix, you may not see the effect.

It's sad that nobody use TCM to treat constipation. TCM is abt balancing the body as a whole, the results achieved will not be fast. Constipation is a symptom of a problem, so treating the symptoms will not cure the root cause(esp when it is chronic) n it will come back again. Even though some mums hv tried TCM, but they don't hv the patience n resort to western medicine back again. Even doctors or specialists also hv no absolute cure, n they hv to trial n error until 1 treatment works.

Do look into the diet & lifestyle. These factors play a part as well. For those who are keen in holistic health, you may want to read these 2 books:

Hello Sin,

Have you solve your son's constipation problem?
My son who is 3.5yrs old is having the same problem, he would wakes up in the middle of the night for a couple of times trying to poo poo but can't and go back to sleep again.

My 2.5 Yo toddler has bad constipation despite lotsa veg and fruits and water daily. What helped was giving Her flaxseed meal added to her rice or soup. I give about 2 teaspoons a day and it solved her problem. Now she passes motion everyday. U can get it from those organic shops.

My boy used to have constipation prob too and likely it could be due to his milk powder (GainIQ). I gave him ChildLife Probiotics with Colostrum and it actually helps to regulate his bowel movements. No more crying. After he switched to Grow (6-12yrs), no more constipation and i no longer need to give him the probiotics too.

Mummies with children who had constipation,I desperately need help! How do you all solve this problem? My boy has been having this problem for for a month plus already and I've brought him to the pd twice for put Fleet.
I've tried Flexseed, probiotics, laxorol, luctolose,senokot, yakult, fibre supplements, etc..... NOTHING works! I'm really getting very stressed up.
