Any idea whether or not we use hand sanitiser on baby's hands? Or how you clean baby's hands? He touched his soiled diaper...

Hello mummies,

I'm from nov add first-time mom-to-be!

I will appreciate if you can share with me what are insurance plans you take up for your infants. Thanks!

Hi mummies, any idea when can we start bringing LO to public swimming pool for swimming?

it's really up to u, but at least after 3-4mths when baby is bigger/tougher & not so easily catch a cold ba. I don't dare bring my boy to public swimming pool till after 1yo coz of hygiene reasons. my friend brought her gal to public swim pool when she was 11mths & she caught stomach flu. I brought my boy to swim class (for 1 term) at aquabambinos when he was 6-7mths then. it's a pte pool for kids & the water is heated. quite good experience. most likely letting both boys join their swim classes when younger one turns 6-7mths.

Hello mummies,

Do your LOs get crankier and sleep lesser after your CL leaves? If so, what do you do with it? In the last 5 days, my 5-week-old daughter now sleeps way lesser during the day (used to sleep 3 hours, now 0.5-1 hr), and wants to be carried often. She also drinks at 2 hr interval vs 3 hr interval.

I have resorted to carrying her in my sling while I cook, but even that has it's limits. She gets cranky after some time. Honestly I am overwhelmed by the sudden increase in fussiness.

By the way, think someone posted about her LO groaning at night? My LO also groans loudly at night, with her knees drawn. We brought her to a PD who said she has reflux n gas, so has given her Ridwind and 2 medications. I have been asked to cut diary, coffee n tea. Doc's also given BioGaia, a probiotic drop to help promote healthy gut.

@leanne - yup!! We took him out today in the manduca and he was so comfortable! Achievement unlocked!

@Babby - I bought insurance when I was 16 weeks' pregnant. Just converted to baby's insurance. I got mine from AIA. Covers him 300k. Premium $2.4k a year. Investment linked though.

@kopibeanie - cos was out! You mean u bring baby soap out with you ah.. Hmmm actually good idea. Those sampler packs would come in handy.

@RookieM - yup. Mine has been cranky since just before she left until this week (week 7). Think baby is just fussy. Fussiness peaks week 6-8 according to kellymom?

I/we carried him all the time so that he could nap.

Yup! I posted that. PD gave the same thing. I haven't tried the probiotic drops though. But recent nights better le after he burps after every feed.

Thanks queeensg for yr reply. :) Do you take up any hospitalization and critical illness insurance plans for baby upon delivery?

@Babby - my plan is: 300K for death, 300K for critical illness, 300K for total disability.

I haven't bought a hospitalisation plan yet! Looking to buy the prudential policy - the pay 25 years and be insured rest of life one. that's not investment linked.

ru yi oil might be a little too hot for a long/ full body massage. only need dap dap 1-2 drops on the stomach & feet will do. best to use baby oil if u wanna do a longer/ full body massage.

my massage lady give me this oil to massage baby. it was very good, if can't get baby to burp can just apply this oil on baby tummy and the wind will pass out (from mouth together with milk or fart). i call it wonder oil...it helps my baby a lots!:D

Thank you ladies! Will try out the massage. My baby groans at night and bring his legs to the tummy. But I'm not sure is it because he is hungry or tummy ache or because he is trying to poo..

Same here. I went to see PD. End up didnt use the med yet and he OK liao.

You can try burping after every feed, keep him upright for 15 mins. Then put him back to sleep.

So far didn't see anyone here bathe with rice wine but I read from web that it should be warmed by adding water and used to wipe ur body. Don't see anyone shower in that. Mostly wipe only.

Alternatively. You can use ginger and lemon grass, boil and use the water to bath or wipe.

My confinement, I use the packet herbs to bath and towards the end.. my CL use ginger and lemongrass. It smell and feels so much nicer and cleaner (cos the water is not dark in colour). In the future, if I have no.2, will definitely go straight for ginger and lemon grass.

Do u all still clean the belly button for ur baby using alcohol swap after umbilical cord drop off? My hubby still insist to clean it with a cotton bud and alcohol swap for my 5 weeks old baby

hi ladies, how to use the white rice wine for cleaning body during confinement?
must dilute or not?
I added the rice wine to the Chinese herbs when showering. Alternatively, u can pour it to boiled hot water and use to wipe ur body if you are not showering.

Based on your pix..I think your baby's face also hv..
My baby's neck have so I used the cream which PD prescribed for her face rashes or ezcema or pimples or milk rash on her neck n chest n its will off..

See according to health booklet. Every baby different. . Have their own milestone. . If everyone weight and height is abt the same.. then something must be very wrong. I would say don't compare. Cos this will make u feel not so good if u find ur bb lower in weight or height than other people child. As long bb feed well.. poo well . Happy. . Thats more important. If bb has a drop in any area of growth sprut, I am sure the doc will alert u when u go for check up. So nothing to worry abt.

@JL72 thanks for sharing the massage video link. I tried it for the first time yesterday after the evening wipe-down- I could only do one repetition as my LO was in a hurry to drink milk. Lol. Will try again today.

@queeensg re fussy baby - I started turning on the radio when LO is in the room. That seems to keep her occupied until the 'goodwill' runs out.

Do you mummies feed babies first, then bath n massage them? Or feed, massage and bath?

I just did a stomach massage on my LO after an evening wipe-down. This time I managed 2 repetitions... :) however she doesn't seem to enjoy it though. I read that I need to ask for permission from LO before I start. Do you do that or how long did it take your LO before she/he looks like they r enjoying it? My current customer feedback is not great- lol.

I will just tell my baby..mommy massage for you..
Dont worry months of bonding your baby will understand you. Just in case your baby wasn't ready shake the leg and make LO relax first before you start.

My baby fidget alot and scare itchy haha dont seems enjoy but she farted during my 1st massage session.

My 5wo boy is driving me crazy!! I'm so upset now. Since this week, I'm all alone with the boy. No more MIL to help. So instead of previous where I pump every 3-4hrs, now I DL him instead. He don't slp in aftnoon at all. Keep fussing. And when I latch him, he drink for only 5mins like that than he doze off. The moment I put him down, he wake up again and cry for the boobs. And so I carry him again and latch and he repeat the same thing over and over again.
I'm tired but can't slp cos he is not sleeping. I dunno how to manage him Liao. :(

Maybe u wanna wake him and feed through that 15-20mins so he had enough and he will sleep longer. My PD told me bb didn't sleep well becos they didn't drink enough. Like bottle fed.. when they doze off we will shake them at their cheek a little to wake them up.. so u may wanna do the same.

Know ur frustration cos when CL left. . It took me two weeks to get into routine. Tiredness is like forever there.. this is part of the game so just gotta get use to it

@pooh_girl
Jiayou! Lack of sleep is part of the duty of a mum...our lives revolve around our LO the moment we became mummies...try to rest whenever your LO rest...no matter 10 or 15 min of sleep is also good! You will definitely feel exhausted if you only sleep at night...all the best!

wow, u are lucky. for me, its not because of pumping, i.e. not due to the stretching of the nipple during pumping.

my baby will bite me and so i had to use the cream as the skin had broken and cracked. Its painful because baby has teeth already. now that i have stopped bf, i am selling off all these bf items...

Thanks Shirley and Pochacco.. I just breakdown. I think mayb my milk supply is not that much that's why baby suck and unlatch and than latch again. Hubby just told me to give FM instead..

If u r not against yao lan, u can try that. I had the same pb until I gave up breastfeeding cuz I also taking care all by myself... All turned better u until I tried yao lan . N to soothe bb, try "shhhh" to him as tho telling him to keep quiet... For my case, the shhh works micraculously.. The shh sound is similar to what bb hears in the womb

I dunno break down and cry my heart out countless time ah till now! Lol. So its pretty normal. . Jia you!

@pooh_girl sorry to hear that. My LO was really fussy too last week when my CL left...and I just wanted to tear my hair out. She didn't sleep in the afternoon too n wants to be carried all the time. I started using a sling ( that helps to keep hands free) and I am now experimenting with a mesh bouncer.

Hang in there...I was told the fussy phase will pass. Jia you!

carry him & sleep? it's a skill I learnt with my #1. or u might want to try the yaolan. it'll get better with time. hang in there! jiayou!

this is based on what I read from the breastfeeding forum... because u've been pumping & feeding ebm previously. baby will take awhile to learn how to feed from the breast again. feeding from breast & bottle is different. from the bottle, baby will stop drinking when there's no more milk in the bottle. but from the breast, baby might stop drinking after 1 letdown & u need a few letdowns before baby is full. try wake the baby up so that he will continue to feed on that breast until that breast is fully empty. just persist & baby will learn how to feed from the breast eventually. jiayou!

anyway I'm doing both bottle & breast, ebm & fm. just try ur best & do what u can. happy mummy = happy baby yah.

If too tired to direct latch try pumping again? I dun think die die must DL...I am also experiencing reduced breastmilk supply. I hope I can provide for at least 6 mth before switching to FM :) and I agree with other mummies that you should try to carry him and sleep or use pacifier. My LO also like that but you just need to learn how to put him down lightly or try few more times he will eventually fall asleep.
