Marshmello,

Guess you can do that [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Anyway, you may also want to avoid getting her ears wet as it may cause infection if water is dirty. Just a note [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Mummies, have any of you started on the multi-grain cereal from Happy Bellies? Are your babies able to take the cereal well? Any constipation problems?

Good afternoon mummies,

Freesia:

Aiyo... heart pain! My fault.. should have asked earlier. ;p

Hi Mummies,

Does your little one take to porridge on the first few tries?

I am starting porridge, tried a couple of times but my baby just don't want to eat. After the first spoon, he don't even want to open mouth.

Lilac

I juz started my son to porridge juz earlier on!

I notice tat he doesn't want to eat it juz after a few mouthful too.. Hahhahah..

I think it's becoz this is the 1st time and starting him and tat's why!

Try a few time round and he/she might love it! ;p

Lilac :

It was love at first bite for Jolie when she tried porridge !!! Since den there's no turning back.. I thought I could be lazy to jus feed her cereals during wkends since she'd porridge at nanny's place during wkdays.. end up she rejected cereals now !! And am stuck wif 1 tin of Happy Bellies Multigrain and Oat eact at home now... haiz..

Different babies hav different reaction to new food when intro to them.. try a few more times..

shortlegged :

I've booked the Chevrons chalet on 29 Jan 2011 for Jolie's 1st BD since her actual day will be during CNY !! WE decided to bring it forward as catering will be more costly and venue hard to book.

Have also more or less confirm wif a baker to do the cake.. but hav yet to finalise the design...

Good morning mummies,

Thanks for the response on birthday parties.

I hv not booked anything yet so a little bit kan chiong now. Actually still undecided what to do. Holding buffet seems more for adults to get together. At 1 yr old, I feel they won't remember much :p

Think a big n nice cake is more impt. Then again, some cakes are colourful and cute BUT not nice. Good tasting cakes may not be nice. Aiyah, dilemma ar!!!

Lilac,

How is your porridge cooked? For me, my son is eating brown rice blended porridge with either fish or pork. WIll also include carrots, pumpkim, sweet potato or spinach depending on wat is available. His porridge actually taste quite sweet n yummy [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

You may wanna add sweet potato or pumpkim to make it tastier?

hi mummies!

shortlegged,

me oso hven done anything... dono where to hv her 1st BD party... @ a lost nw....

lilac,

for a start, LO will sure not be accustomed to the taste n texture of porridge... mayb make sure that the porridge is really those 'mashed up' kind then try wif small mouthful... 1st time will 'puke' it out coz dono hw to swallow yet... hv to try a few times b4 ur LO will get used to it...

Lilac: Some babies prefer thicker porridge like mine. He don't like his cereal or porridge to be too watery. He is ok with plain white porridge too as long it is not too watery. Try a few times to see what kind of consistency your baby prefer.

lilac: My boy doesn't like porridge initially too. But he is eating a bit more now. I think you just have to keep on letting him try...

lovie: No problem... actually, i wasn't sure of the directions too. I got one of the daddies to help out!

shortlegged pig: How do you cook brown rice porridge? Need to grind the brown rice first? Or cook in the same way as white rice porridge?

Freesia,

I cook the same way as white rice except that I will soak the brown rice overnight before cooking. After cooking, blend n serve. Better to let them start on brown rice since mroe nutritious.

Freesia: My gal started oatment cereal on last sat, then on that day, she no poo, till sunday night then poo. Normally she will poo everyday at least 2 times. I'm not so sure because of the cereal that causes her no poo for one day..

apple: Ok, thanks. I am thinking of starting the multi-grain cereal, but i'm afraid it may lead to constipation. Coz i notice my boy's poo is getting quite hard these days.

Apple,

Oatmeal cereal shld be less constipating. My son was having constipation when he first started on semi solids. I switched to oatmeal there after and it seemed better. Think rice cereal is more constipating, oatmeal, multigrain n barley less so.

Guess the only solution is to drink more water [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Freesia:

i ordered from aimummy.blogspot.com

think i have posted a few links couple months ago.. maybe the post was gone coz tat time forum got a lot of problem.

Christine (evangelinemum): supposed to end tml, but i heard its extended!! i only managed to get 1 tin today.. will go guardian buy tml.. i actually brought 2 mamil gold container down to buy today, but the cashier say they dun accept plastic ones. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

yeah! 1 yr old bday coming soon!! excited, but headache. no idea where to hold the celebration.. was thinking of holding at MBS.. but how ar...?

fii0nn:

Really??? I hope it will be extended cos' my gf still hasn't finish her milk and not nice to ask her to transfer to a container just for me!*Fingers crossed*

How come they dun accept plastic ones? I thought as long as the milk tins are 700g and above, it is ok?

Hi mummies,

Thanks for the advice. Will let him try again, hopefully, he will want to eat.. else i am always the one eating the porridge.

Hi, shortleggedpig,

I put spare ribs and after an hr put in white rice to cook for another abt 3 hrs then i put in pumpkin or sweet potato. So far, only i am eating :S

Lilac: Maybe you try putting in more ingredients to sweeten the broth. When i cook porridge, i will put in lean pork and whatever veggies i can find (potato, carrot, sweet corn, sweet potato, etc). Maybe your broth is not sweet enough....

Aiyoh, my headache for my son's 1YO BD is not the venue, but the guests to invite! If i invite my extended family (i.e. my aunties and uncles), then my hubby will also invite his side. And this will be like close to 100 guests! *faint*

I'm thinking of doing it twice for each side...
