Hello to the 40ish, would you like to walk the current/next IVF cycle together to give each other some additional emotional support? :)

Hi everyone, looks like we are all newbies on this forum. Happy to meet you ladies! :)
Perhaps we can all do a little intro on which phase of the cycle we are at and share any highs or lows so we can provide support for each other?

Personally I’ve done a few cycles and have experienced some short-lived happiness but well, here I am preparing for my FET all over again. My ET is sometime next week. What about you?

Hi all, I just started my first IVF cycle and am gonna have the egg retrieval next week. I’m a bit nervous and anxious. Can anyone give me some heads up? Thank you.

Hi Angie, stay strong through the injections, very soon all these painful jabs will be over :)
How are you feeling now? Did your doctor tell you how your progress is?
It will be good to take it easy now and not do anything to strenuous as you are carrying more eggs in your ovaries.
I always find it useful to drink V8 juice and also coconut water after my egg retrieval, somehow helped me cope much better with the bloatedness so I usually stock up on those and I also just rest and watch Netflix after retrieval and reduce my movement for the first couple of days. Hope that helps and feel free to message :)

Hi new to this. Going for my ivf counselling at nuh this week. Totally confused. How long it takes to start after counselling. Pls advise

Hi Meeta, I think it depends on the schedule of NUH, you may like to ask when is the earliest you can start. Either way, you have to wait till day one of your menses to commence a fresh cycle, which will take around 10ish days of injections, depending on your body response, before they retrieve the eggs for fertilisation. All the best for your IVF! :)

Hi Jellybean,

Thank you so much for your heads up. I’m going to have the egg retrieval in the middle of this week. I’m feeling good and the doctor said everything looks good now. I hope things will go well. Thanks again.

It will. Sending you positive vibes and wishing you many good quality harvest! :)

Thank you, Jellybean. The harvest was not so good. I’m still waiting for the result. Do you suggest me start the 2nd IVF cycle soon?
I just realized that you are going to have/had your ET this week. How is everything going? I wish you a successful one.

Hi Angie, how are you feeling after your OPU? What makes you say the harvest was not good? And depending on the number of embryos, you may be doing a fresh transfer?

I just got back from my FET today, thank you for your well wishes! ☺️

I just finished my counselling. They told me to wait for my january menses and start in february. Just worried and panicky. How long does the process go.

Hi Meera,
What are your worried about?
I think it’s normal to have some nervousness after the counselling especially with all the new information... as for your question on how long the process go, if referring to the injections, maybe around 10-14days depending on your response?

Personally I could recommend main process to focus on now is your physical and mental health - take this time to relax and take care of your body and your mind. Take it one step at a time...

Hi i am reaching 40 too... i would like to be included too, if it is still possible. Also, can i check if anyone has experience or heard of experience of ivf at CARE at novena?

Hi everyone! I'm 41 and started taking Human Growth Hormones which I take for 6 weeks before my first retrieval. Our first ER is planned for February. Anyone else also doing an ER in the next few months? Anyone have any tips to help through the process?

Also, we are still deciding between 2 doctors- 1 is at Mt E and the other is at NUH. If you have any pros and cons (especially considering Advanced Maternal Age) that help is make our decision it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Ladies,
Glad to find this group, Am going to be 40 soon & have IVF counselling session next month. How soon they start the process after counselling? Past couple of months am just googling and reading about IVF experiences and scared a bit :(

Hi, I had my first cycle of IVF cancelled as the doctor retrieved no eggs. I just had my egg retrieval for my second cycle and this time round they managed to get 20 eggs. However I am having mild OHSS. I am quite worried if I can proceed with the embryo transfer.

Dear all, I have an extra box of Ovidrel prefilled pen 250mcg leftover from last few natural cycles (Scan + HCG trigger + timed intercourse). Would like to give away for free because I'm doing IVF this month. I don't think I will try natural cycle any soon this year. Expires in Nov 2021. I got it from my gynae at $120, and have been keeping it in the fridge at stable temp btw 2-8 degree as instructed. Pm me if you're interested.

Dear ladies, many fertility doctors argue that genetic testing of IVF embryos (PGS or PGT-A) is useful for older women, firstly to prevent Down Syndrome, and secondly, to improve the IVF success rates per cycle by weeding out non-viable genetically abnormal embryos. However, there appears to be increasing contradictory evidence and doubts about the usefulness of PGS / PGT-A for older women with lower ovarian reserves:

Just recently, some Australian patients even filed a class-action lawsuit against PGS / PGT-A:

Hi, I am considering egg donation but am apprehensive. SG allows import of frozen eggs. I found out that Mount E works with Ovogene which was formerly known as first egg bank. If you have experience with egg donation, can you please share?
ps: there is a lot of news article and website info posted by a couple of members. I’d like to hear from someone who has had experience of using a donated egg. Thanks

Dear Jessica,
As previously mentioned, Ovogene in fact source their Chinese donor eggs from an Egg Bank in Penang, Malaysia. You can request donor matching from both sources, and see that the photos and profiles are very similar, if not identical. Yet, Ovogene charge much more than the Egg Bank in Penang. Additionally, Ovogene also tend to charge more for Asian egg donors, as compared to Caucasian egg donors. Here are the website links of the Egg Bank in Penang, which is affiliated with Island Fertility Centre in Georgetown:

Also note that IVF success rates with frozen donor eggs are lower than fresh eggs, as warned by an American fertility specialist:

My personal opinion is that the best option for a Singaporean patient requiring an egg donor (like myself), is to wait out the pandemic and go directly to KL for egg donation. Preferably, you should directly contact the egg donor agency itself, and undergoing treatment at their affiliated IVF clinic.

As seen in the above thread, you will only end up paying more money by asking an unaffiliated IVF clinic (particularly in Johor) to source an egg donor for you.

Hi, thanks taking the time to reply. I have seen the same posts from you several times. Have you received egg donation? I would like to ask from other forum users for experience.

Hi Cindy,
Well done on the good harvest. I think with OHSS usually doctor will advise not to transfer as if you do get pregnant, the symptoms will only get worse. Do observe your swelling and reduce activity. I find it useful to drink V8 and coconut water instead of plain water, somehow that helped me. Take care!

Hi Claire,
It depends on which hospital /Clinic you are at? The earliest earliest will be first day of your menses. Good luck!

Dear Jellybean2020,

Thanks. I will try to drink 100 plus instead of plain water. I have been observing the symptoms.

Hi Ladies,
I would like to join the Group forum as I am thinking to go for my third time IVF... I am also in my 40 and need support as I do not have confident anymore.
My last 2 IVFs was done in 2014 and I spent about 40K which was with a private clinic.
Anybody can advise seeking Polyclinic to get referral letter to see a IVF clinic at KKH as it will be cheaper.
Thank you.

Morning ladies. I am scheduled to do my first ivf in NUH soon. Also in my 40. Is your workplace supportive? Yet to inform my superiors. Not sure how to inform them. Any tips & advice would be appreciated.

Hello everyone, I'm 40 this year, just did my 1st ET of 3days embryo a few days ago. The 2 weeks wait is really long! I don't have signs of implantation after 5days & my test kits came back negative (I know I'm not supposed to test due to inaccuracy). How do you cope with the 2 weeks wait?

I did inform my superior that I'm going for fertility treatment as there will quite a bit of unplanned absentism & the HL due to ER & ET.

I did a day 5 transfer yesterday and my pregnancy test is scheduled 8 days later. I wonder if the pregnancy test is scheduled too early.
Btw, not every women will have signs of implantation even if implantation does take place. So better try and focus on other things and wait for the pregnancy test.

How did ur superior take it? With current covid situation, I am scare my company (total 3 staffs) will ask me take unpaid leave for days I need to visit nuh or discriminate me and find ways to terminate or make me resign.

My superior & select few colleagues who know are all supportive. However, there are bound to be others who are unhappy about it.
Why don't you try taking time off & maybe not the full duration of HL after ER if you already feel better? I took time off occasionally & inform them about my MC & HL in advance.
I realise the long wait is mostly at CHR. I try to arrive super early for my doctor's appointment (appointment 8am but reach 7+am) & rush to CHR straight after.
If you are taking blood test only without seeing the doctor, they are only able to provide a time off chit & not MC.
Hope this helps

Congratulations! Did you inform the nurse about your concern? I read that they usually have a few more tests after the initial? Do correct me if I'm wrong.
