Year 2020 IVF Mums

Hi Mum's, I am getting crazy!! I did 5 day embryo transfer. I got positive blood test on 12th dpt. Yesterday night I was feeling to do urine test at home, I used 3 different test tubes and all were negative. I am so scared, it's like I was pregnant and now not pregnant. I just did blood test again this morning. I am feeling so hopeless, does anyone have gone through this phase?

Dear Ladies,

I would like to seek your advice on which option I should take for egg donation.

These are my 4 options:

1) My doctor actually recommended me to look for my relatives as potential donors. I have a younger female cousin whom I am very close to, and I can certainly ask her. However, I am reluctant to do so, because I am afraid that the future child may learn about the secret of his or her conception. You know that sometimes it is difficult to keep secrets among relatives. Family secrets easily spill out after some time.

2) The doctor also told me that the government has recently allowed import of frozen donor eggs from a European egg bank. But upon searching their catalog, there were no Asian donors, only Caucasian ones. I am not comfortable with a Caucasian egg donor, as a Eurasian child will stick out like a sore thumb for a Chinese couple.

3) The nurse at the clinic discreetly hinted that I can secretly use a foreign egg donor agency, to arrange for an egg donor to travel to Singapore. But payment has to be kept absolutely secret because this is actually illegal in Singapore. However, the nurse hinted that the doctor and clinic will 'close one eye' and pretend not to know anything, even if they suspect that I am illegally using a paid egg donor from a foreign agency.

4) Then, there is also the option of going to Malaysia or Thailand for egg donation.

Wondering which route would you recommend? I am still thinking hard and considering all options.

4. Please don’t do illegal 3. What if get caught?

Have you found a gynae yet?
I'm choosing to do water birthing. So it was recommended that NUH Dr Chitra is both good and pro water birth. But she's fully booked until next yr Apr. I went to take NUH Dr Vanaja instead, who's the next best, but there's mixed reviews about her.

Anyway, I think it depends on what birthing method you wish to take up. I went to attend a talk by doula agency FourTrimesters. Learned that some doctors are more into caesaerians than natural. U may wish to start from there.

Hi , took myself a lot of courage to come back to forum to share my journey. Coz I am at end of my FET , knowing result on Friday and I started with high spirit and I am getting to the Low pessimistic period towards the preg test day coz all I am feeling is the injection pain on my belly and nothing else by today. I was already out since my day 6 after FET. Then went out on day 7 and day 8. Not really by choice, but I went out half day or 3/4 day or so. And try to rest / watch tv the rest of time of the day. Please help, how do I adjust my feelings towards Friday? Stay positive but I have no signs of pregnancy symptoms at all and I felt guilty for going out.... always sit up and climb in and out of couch... I don’t think I did anything right post FET!

Just to share with you my journeys...
In my 1st and 2nd embryo transfers, I hibernated at home for 2 weeks. Deep sleep in the afternoon & sleep again at night. Other than walking about at home, I did no other walkings. All ETs were unsuccessful.

Then I decided to do things differently in the final embryo transfer. I continued to work, and walk here and there until the day i did blood test. When I knew i was finally pregnant, then i started to go slow with work and life.

See. Too many unknown factors. Just go with the flow and be emotionally peaceful and happy. Whatever the outcome is, there is still hope somehow, if both keep trying.

:) Jiayou.

So crazy right? I don't think I can afford all these after the ivf cycles. I'll just rely on the food my parents cook for me.

Dear mummies, anyone experienced severe constipation? How did you resolve the problem?

My system is so badly choked up that I’m unable to eat or drink without wanting to vomit. I’ve tried prune juice but it did not work.

Please advise.

I just passed 12 weeks. Cant suggest to you sorry, because i have yet to experience constipation. Hope someone can share.

What have you been including in your diet since pregnant? You take walks?

I take walks every morning. Trying my best to drink the 8-10 glasses of water. It’s challenging because I don’t even feel like putting anything into my mouth. There’s a permanent weird taste in my mouth with or without food.

Now I eat mainly fruits like apples, oranges and bananas. Once in a while I give myself a treat of blueberries.

I decided to take a risk and reduce my pessaries so that I can hopefully do my business normally.

Thankfully I am not vomitting. Nausea - yes. Vomitting - No.

What other supplements, apart from folic acid, do you take during your first trimester?

Good good. Always thankful theres no vomitting to make us shudder, other than nausea. :)

My doctor in kkh only prescribed Duphaston & folic acid for 1st trimester. I just started tuna oil yesterday and alternating between calcium & multi-vits for a start (Im afraid of constipation or no bowel movement).
Hmm thats about it.

Try to consume high fiber fruits.. if im not wrong banana and apple will make you more constipated.

Im eating kiwi, dragon fruit, oranges...

I also asked my gynae prescribed me with stool softener so incase i really cannot then i will drink tat one! Its call lactus syrup....i know how terrible it can feel to have constipation..

Ok noted abt lactus syrup. Haha.
So far, payaya, kiwi, yellow short banana & leafy vegs work fine at the moment.

I have not put on weight yet from the 1st trimester appetite, but glad to know they are growing inside. I am trying to eat & drink more milk now that appetite is gradually getting better. Phew.

Hi dear all,

I think I need to start looking for a gynae to transfer to after I “graduate” from ivf after my first trimester. I heard that my fertility specialist does only consultation for fertility issues and will not be able to follow me thru the pregnancy.

Any recommendations?

I’m currently more swayed towards delivering in TMC but I probably should read up more.

My edd is 28 July.

So far im ok w Dr Chua Ka Hee from KKH. But he is young, so i think not many patients choose him. Im a subsided patient, but I always get to see him at every appointment. So im not changing since he has seen me through my ivf and now, a higher risk pregnancy w twins.

Sorry cant recommend much! :)

Is anyone considering or has purchased pregnancy insurance? I bought a Great Eastern from the hospital before embryo transfer procedure, but the max claim is only $5000 if baby has complication when born.

So far, I have only read up on Prudential & AIA's policies for pregnancy covering from week 13 onwards for both mother & baby.
Want to know if anyone of you are able to provide advice about such policies? Thanks. :)

I think Prudential don't cover for IVF babies.

I think Prudential don't cover for IVF babies.

Thanks for replying!

Prudential does too, but here is the footnote condition:

1 Coverage for assisted pregnancies conceived through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and Intracervical Insemination (ICI) starts from week 28 to 35 of pregnancy, and will go through normal underwriting.

AIA agent told me that their policy covers from week 13 onwards for ivf babies.

The good thing about such prenatal policies is that baby is insured of a policy now even if born w abnormalities.

Do mothers-to-be buy such policies? I know there are still many other educational and savings policies when baby is born. Sigh.

Anyone, please advise.

Prudential has Prumum, covers IVF pregnancy from week 13. If Nipt and 1st-2nd trimester scans were good, then baby has not abnormalities listed in the policy. Regarding NICU, also not much help, insurance compensate only 1% per day. If buy maximum policy for 2570$ coverage 20000$, it compensates only 200$ per day. So it’s my point of view.

2) With the introduction of MediShield Life, it now provides universal coverage for all Singapore Citizens (SC) from birth. It provides coverage of up to $700 per day of normal ward hospitalisation and $1,200 per day of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) hospitalisation. The MediSave Grant for Newborns (MGN), introduced since 2012, can also be used to offset hospitalisation costs, up to the MediSave withdrawal limits of $450 per day. We will also be extending MediShield Life coverage to serious pregnancy or delivery complications, which will take effect from 1 April 2019.

Now with this Medishield Life of higher coverage for ICU, and my intergrated IP with private insurer that covers some pregnancy complications & congenital abnormalities , I wonder if i should still buy a maternity insurance for my twins.

Hi all, i did my Fresh ET on 4 Jan...

Hey sis you may want to try eating bran. It’s very high in fibre and works for my friend who suffered constipation during her pregnancy as well. Prune juice and daily dose of high fiber fruits don’t work for her , but bran does . Just a spoonful and add to your oat or milk. :)

Things got better after that. Once I was taken off the progesterone support, I was ok.

How have you been?

I’m on 10dp5et

4dp to 8dp - has lower back pain and sore breast
8dp - 10 dp - feeling cold and bloated (feeling my usual AY symptoms)

am I out?
