IUI/SO-IUI: Anyone?

Hi all.. anyone has good fertility specialist to recommend? looking for 1 for both male and female.. am ttc but my hubb doesnt seem to be able to ejaculate during my fertile window. getting frustrated with depressed. in such should i go for iui or ivf? :(

Hi depend on your Budget. If u go private is more expensive compare to kk. I wen directly to private to cut short the waiting time and also I Wan a female doctor

Hi all, can i ask how did u decide whether to do iui, soiui or ivf?

KKH told me that my "end state" is to try ivf. The doc seems to be pushing for ivf. I tot i could start prob with iui or soiui first and see how it goes. His main concern is my hub n i are already in mid 30s. No time to "waste" liao. I think ivf is pretty invasive n i wanted to try those options that they not that invasive if possible.

How many of u succeed at iui or soiui? If so, how many tries did u go thru before succeeding?

Normally this is decided by your specialist. Hospitals do have protocols about which to go for. Back then in 2015, I was told to go for 3 cycles of iui then proceed with ivf at NUH. Thankfully I conceived during my second cycle of IUI.

This time round, I failed 3 cycles of iui and I'm going back to my specialist to see what other options I can consider if IVF is not an option...

I wanted to go for iui too.. no time to waste.. .. what is the success rate for iui? I have just done my fertility test at raffles waiting to see doc in May for test result and decide..

Anyway tried Tiang Yuan Xiang for pregnancy plan before? seems to have quite good review..

Hi, i hv tried for 2 to 3 boxes. No good news though...

Hi all, glad to be part of this group in the journey.

Am on the unnerving 2ww now at 9dpiui (more than half way there!). First SO IUI cycle, started injections from 3 March, trigger shot on 14 March, procedure on 15 March. Given progestrone 3x daily, progesterone blood test this week 21 March and my betaHCG upcoming on 3 Apr.

Have a blend of nausea, lethargic, headaches, slight cramping daily, which could indicate that it may be successful OR side effects of progestrone. Out of curiosity, I did UPT yesterday and today to see if the trigger shot HCG is still in my body & any possible early signs, and both were negative. Think that's my own experience and different bodies may process differently.

Best wishes to all and baby dusts :)
you trigger shot on 14/3 is which day? D14? then proceed to iui next day D15?

Hi ladies.. im planning to do iui. Anyone can share the cost for the test/medicine etc? Can use medisave to pay for all?

Hi it depend on the medicine. Mine was under private hence I paid cash for the treatment. If im not wrong gov hospital can use Medisave. Bt nurse will suggest to save it for ivf.
I spend around less than 1.5k for the whole process.. including check up and blood test.

Hi all, have some questions about iui that I hope some one can help me with:

1) how do the doctor decide when to do trigger shot? Based on egg size maturity or based on LH level?
2) if trigger shot is given too early, will there be a second ovulation later on?
3) what is the duration after trigger shot to the actual iui procedure?
4) do you feel cramps, bloats or aches around the ovaries during the injection period before iui?

Hi cowie :)
Sharing my perspective:
1) Depends on follicle size. For KKH, they will do trigger shot if follicle(s) is at least 17mm AND your ovulation test is positive
2) Nope typically one cycle one ovulation
3) For me at KKH, IUI procedure was approx 24 hours after trigger shot. Timing is quite important for the procedure to happen, and I trusted the advice of the professionals there (though i've read various online accounts that says it ranges from 24 to 72 hours)
4) Yes i did. Part of the experience with the follicles growing and hormone changes :)

I tot trigger shot was to make us ovulate? If ovulation test is positive we still require trigger shot?

Hi all I failed my first IUI attempt in apr fine at kkivf ...period came on day 14. Sad...
Wondering if I should try again or consider ivf? Me and hubby are late 30s been married for 7 years but to be fair, we’ve never talked about having a kid seriously until this year. Now getting quite worried and I am wondering why didn’t I do anything about it earlier...

I think first time IUI I was quite stressed out on the same day coz I was nearly late for my IUI timing due to bad traffic jam! Lesson learnt-leave house earlier in future!

Also I tried to test for ovulation today (day 12) but seems like nothing (I’m using clear blue digital). Is it possible that the previousIUI made me not ovulate this month?

Hi, i had my first SO-IUI failed in Dec last year with KKH too. My Jan 2018 menstrual cycle was disrupted, not too sure if its due to the medication and injections. My Feb 2018 cycle resumed to regular cycle.

Doc gives me 2 tries for SO-IUI before going for IVF. i have not decided. i am currently taking TCM but no news yet leh. One of the forum mates tried Fertility Massage and has a BFP. i brought this idea to my husband but he is not keen for me to try. :/

Ovulation test is to test the presence of LH hormones. If the test is positive, ovulation will likely to take place within the next 24 - 48 hours. Trigger shot is to make sure ovulation happens around the same time that IUI procedure takes place.

Hihi-don’t give up I guess is what I would like to say! But like you..I have not decided too. Never thought there would be a day where I am upset to see my AF...

I will be seeing TCM in June-I guess will let May be a rest month and hopefully my cycle will be back to normal by then.

What’s a fertility massage? Heard about it but actually don’t really know the effectiveness (eg one of my friends said acupuncture helps?)

Thank for clarifying. In short no matter we ovulate on our own or not trigger shot is still require..?

Hihi, typically for hospital's protocol they do 3 cycles and then make a recommendation on the next course of action. I had mine back to back...

As for reason of failing, nope no analysis was done...tbh if it failed it just means the egg wasn't fertilized by the sperm.

I usually call to book my apptments for CD 12 scan on the day I get my menses...

Yup trigger shot forces the ovulation to happen before the IUI...it's timed in the sense so IUI can be administered x number of hours later.

Hi my wife is 3 months pregnant. Those who want to try my method before trying ivf or iui maybe can pm me la.

BTW my sperm count n my wife eggs are normal la.

Hi all, new here. Going for my first IUI next week. Called the clinic and they only ask me to go on my CD13. Is it normal? As last month I used OPK and got smiley on CD12.

I’ve been with the doc for half a year, so I thought they would know. Do I have to tell them?
Hi dear , I called up my gynae clinic. It's still best to go down and scan on CD2 to make sure no previous follicle left over then CD10 go down again to see if ready for booster jab or no need. Then monitor till the day itself for IUI to be done. Hope u can clear your doubt with your clinic again.

Which clinic did u go to?

Hi, do you have to eat any med for your IUI cycle?

Hello all,

Thought it would be useful to share my experience at KKH for those considering going for IUI at KKH.

My first appointment was for a consultation. This was followed by a 3 month course of Letrozole to be doubly sure I ovulate (no abnormalities on my end, I went for HSG prior too. Hubs with low morph though. Btw I do have a kid already, we've been trying for our 2nd for over a year.) Unfortunately nothing came out of it and thus begins my IUI treatment.

Prior to that a counselling session was arranged (not so much counselling per se but to explain the course of the treatment which I guess most of us on this forum would have an idea of). During that same session, both hubs and I went for our blood tests. Thereafter, you would be advised by the nurse to call the IVF hotline on Day 1 of your period (if it comes... hope it doesnt for you girls!).

On Day 2 of your period, they will require you to pop back to the IVF center to get your prescription. With which you will have to pop by their pharmacy to collect your Gonal F meds (wait wasn't too bad.. about 15 mins on a Sat morning?). Then you will need to check in with another nurse who will explain to you how to administer the injections and guide you through your 1st injection. They'll prob start you on a baseline, then depending on how the progress of your follicles growth, will decide the next few doses. (Tip: you can consider getting your hubs to stay back at the IVF centre whilst you collect the meds, to standby to obtain the queue no. to save some time! ;P)

Thereafter, it was daily injections at home (after you overcome the very first injection you have to do for yourself at home, the rest should be a breeze) till Day 7 (for myself). On this day, I had to return to the hospital for a transvaginal ultrasound where they will measure the thickness of your uterine lining and track the growth of your follicles. Then it's on to another Dr who would decide whether to up your dosage or not. They will also advise you on your next u/s (2 days later for me). Ah and of course, it was back to the pharmacy for more Gonal F (for those curious it's about $220 which for each pack of 300 units, claimable via medisave.

In terms of costs, seems like what i've read so far really varies quite a bit, but what the nurses suggested was to expect to fork out $2-3K all in. Doesn't seem to be much cheaper than private I reckon after checking with TFC but oh well, already did my blood tests.

Hope some of you may find this info useful! All the best to us!

PM me your contact. We have TTC WhatsApp group chat

Yup! Doctor says is advisable if not you will waste the procedure if it didn’t ovulate on time! To be honest, I’m someone who have 0 tolerance for pain and jabs! But this shot got no feeling at all, if you are worry about the pain
