any 35 and above trying for their first?

Finally there's a thread for age 35 and above. I am already in a high risk age 34 this year but still single so kind of worry. Hope to get more information and prepare the risk if I able to get married in the future. Is there there any support group I can depend on? How to keep myself healthy etc? Sighz..how I wish I can married early and have chance to start family early.

Have u considered freezing your eggs in other countries?

Will the procedures be complicated to do it overseas? And it seem only Malaysia and Australia has it and I don't know how safe can that be. Thanks for your suggestion.
My friend did it in USA .. Not complicated at all.. Just need to pay annual fee to upkeep her eggs..

I had never planned to have kids till after I got married at 39. If one intends, or situation calls for it, to have kids later in stage, egg freezing is definitely a thing to consider seriously. I would have done it too if I were younger. I mean i didn't know then that my mind could be changed about having kids.

Despite living and eating healthy, we women have our biological clock and that impacts egg quality as well. This is just saying but if I could turn back time, I would freeze my eggs by age 25. Having new generation marrying later and later, I would encourage my daughter in future to freeze hers.

It's not as "complicated" as you may think it is. I have a couple friends whom have done the egg freezing overseas.

Hi Hazel, I am interested in what you have written. Just a concern, I can give some advices if you don't mind. Prefer not to spam in this thread since my topic is about marriage :). Do email me at [email protected] if you are keen. This is not business advertisement. Don't worry :)

hello all, i just turned 35 last month and am ttc-ing.

have no luck since.. :( and am also suffering from PCOS.

hi there eemoo! U can explore yoga therapy. I had the same issue back then. Successfully had 2 kids after. No advertising, just sharing. A few ladies on this forum has went for the therapy session at ohmsantih yoga too and seemed to have positive feedbacks too. No harm exploring :)

Tryingtoconceive2014, are you starting any whatsapp group?

Hi,

I do have a whatsapp group, but then it is under Prof Choolani (does not matter whether you see him in NUH RPL clinic or Mount E. Novena). Just PM me your details if you want to be added onto the group, but then it is mostly for those who are currently seeing Prof Choolani or Dr Sheila Vasoo.

Am in the same boat and have been practicing Billings method - very scientific & effective! Key is to observe mucus discharge pattern. Also, eat well, rest enough and try as much as possible to live a healthy life.

Men also play a part - cut down caffeine, drinking and make sure the pants they wear are not tight fit. It affects sperm quality. Do the deed every other day during our peak so the sperm is "fresh". It does make a difference apparently!

Hi Tryingtoconceive, I started seeing Prof Choolani last week. How do I use the PM function to send you my details? Sorry can't seem to locate it. Thank you!

Hi ladies
Can I check what's the fees like to see Prof Choolani & Dr Sheila Vasoo ? I'm not a income earner, got to be prudent on my expenses on treatments.

But still I'm so tired of the recurring chemical pregnancies, I've seen many doctors, none of them give me suggestions for investigation on my problem. (All said that is common to have chemical pregnancy, just treat it as a delayed menses)

Any doctor recommendations from restructured hospital? (maybe can get subsidied rate treatment). On the contrary, I've been to KKH and NUH, didn't get a good follow-up, keep seeing random dr. every visit.

Experiencing **No money, no honey** situation.

Hi, came across this thread when surfing. FYI, kkh is starting a recurring pregnancy loss dept starting in July. I'm not sure if it's available for subsidized rate, I got a referral from my Ivf dr. U can try calling kkh in July to inquire

I'm Praying hard too, but I'm just feeling unjust with amount of monies we pay to receive answers from specialists that sounds very much like:
"I'm sorry but have no answer why it keep happen to you"

Bonjour baby,

Trust me. Jus keep praying n most importantly have faith. After the second miscarriage I did lose faith. I gather my courage to believe it again n have faith. One day u will carry a healthy baby in your arms :)

Once u r referred to kkivf, this is counted as private rate ! Dun think there is any subsidized rate le. you may use your medisave to pay the medicines/procedures and blood test i think but there is a limit amount! There will be financial briefing once u decided to do ivf/iui etcs

The new clinic for recurring pregnancy loss is not kkivf.

Hi BonjourBaby

NUH if u can get a subsidized rate, via poly referral, consultation is not expensive for the recurrent pregnancy loss clinic, same as any specialist clinics

However....
the whole suite of blood tests, if u need, will set u back by abt $2k, with subsidy for some tests and a few medisave claimable. Be prepared to wait for months for yr results

There is a thread for "Recurrent Miscarriages" more info there.

good to hear kkh setting up one too. 50% of the time it can be unexplained. hope this will help u weigh yr decision.

sometimes it's just a matter of taking baby aspirin , but could also be more complicated of course.

Just to give all the strong ladies here some encouragement, my Docs don't think 40 is too late when I told them I felt like I'm running out of time. . . important thing is maintain yr health.

I found this book to be very informative.
Written by a Reproductive Endocrinologist (he encourages ppl not to rush into IVF, gives many scenario/ case studies) . western and eastern Chinese medicine perspectives.

Hi all,
need some thots and advice from mommies and mommies-to-be (all u ladies TTC-ing)... some background, I've TTC abt 3 yrs with some breaks in between and had recurrent pregnancy losses.

one Obgyn told me to consider to take fertility meds due to my age . I supposed he meant clomid, etc . I didn't ask further but told him I want to try naturally. I'll be 40 in a few months. He also thinks I shld go straight to IVF, better chances than IUI. I know after 40, there is no govt subsidy. My hubby is not for IVF, thinks we shld just try naturally.

My cycles have always been fairly regular. I think I ovulate as well my test done 2015 confirmed it, and just did another hormone panel and waiting for results.

I wonder at which point I shld go ahead (I am thinking give another 3 month cos I'm positive and cautiously optimistic I'll see that BFP) and use the fertility meds and which one do u think if better (clomid, letrozole, etc)?

What has yr experience been like? I know everyone is diff.

thanks !

Hi!
Given what I gone through I will suggest u to straight to IVF. Even IVF also won't guarantee u a bb, at our age trying natural is really difficult. Different people react differently for clomid and letrozole. I tried both, I yield great results but I still rely on IVF to bfp, and only managed to bfp the 4th time....

thank u so much for sharing.
may I know... how do u know both meds yield great results? meaning u ovulated and no/ little side effects?

in case some of u are wondering, this is a different doc's opinion. Another 2 docs seem to think I shld try naturally, as per my earlier post.

I tried with clomid before I embark on ivf. Some pple do not react at all, but mine did, still no bfp. And eventually when I started ivf since i reacted well with clomid, the doc continue and with injection to yield more eggs

Hi. If you feel comfortable going through the natural route, give yourself few more months then. You can also consider TCM if that's in your book.

I've never tried clomid but IVF. As someone shared, it's not even a guarantee. It didn't work for me for sure and I went through it after 40. I didn't like the whole process.

I popped my gal last year when I was 44. Natural, when I long given up on ttc.

Sometimes it's all about timing. Things happened when we least expected it.

Everyone is different indeed. But the journey is definitely trying for women like us, young or old (I saw many young couples at IVF centre too). All the best to you and hope your time will come soon.

That's wonderful to hear u have yr daughter naturally. I know a few couples who gave up ttc, and suddenly they are pregnant.

i did few rounds of acupunctures, took some tcm pills and powders previously.

Anyone has adeyomosis n endometriosis huh? today grew to 10cm. Gynae put me on injection now to stop menses. I m really worried

Hi all, glad to found this thread. I'm coming 36 this year and currently ttc-ing. Am on TCM and folic acid. There were symptoms of pregnancy recently but just keep tested bfn. So frustrating.

Hi ladies, I am tcc for 2nd child . 37 this year and have pcos. Have no confidence in trying due to stress and age. Anyone trying ?????

Me too.. I'm tcc for no 2. 38 this year and have endo and adeno.
My no 1 was conceived via IVF. I just failed a cycle last month and intend to do another cycle in June. Jiayou!

Just try lor. But try to be easy on ourselves. I think if it’s meant to be, it will come. Stress is always a hurdle to many things.

My #1 is coming 2yo and I’m still trying for second at 46

Bravo! I am not sure what is it like with high risk pregnancy?

Is there additional tests for your first child?

Salute to you! for trying for 2nd!

Great to meet you! Let's support each other in the journey of trying!!!!!

Hopefully baby dust this year!

Do you see tcm to 'Qiao' your body?

Wonder if there is any Yu Guo is good to go for 'qiao' body?

Hi
hi there.. tot of starting a thread for pple as myself whos above 35 and trying for their first.. well, a little about myself.. am 37 and married late at 35. we didn't really start trying actively till e beginning of this year, a bit bo-chup I say... gotten a bfp on end july but alas its not a viable pregnancy. Gynae did a check and turn out to be a blighted ovum. My joy at getting a bfp was short lived. actually I knew something not right coz when I tested on the hpt, the second line was quite faint, barely visible... sigh.. cried like mad on one of my trip to the Gynae.. did a D&C on mid aug... very disheartened.. but we r still trying and nope, I m not giving up.

Thank you.

Actually the only “extra” step is my gynae wants to see me more often for scan checks. Partly I had two miscarriages prior to this viable pregnancy. I did develop low GD so I was controlling my diet ( but theN GD is common; not just on older MTBs).

I’m very lucky as my pregnancy was pain free and smooth, not to mention pretty fast labor. I would suggest yoga before and during pregnancy. That helped me a lot.

My TTC journey to a healthy baby wasn’t easy too.. but I believe in happy thoughts and be easier and nice to ourselves as the battle itself is brutal enough:)

No, I'm not seeing TCM. With my first one I didn't too. However, I did go for massages.
