Hi future parents,

We are expecting our 2nd one in May 2017, I'm currently at 7 weeks.

I just got a quote from the gynae we were recommended to, and the cost seems a bit exorbitant

Pre-natal - $1,600 (inclusive of all consultations and scans, excluding the more detailed scans i.e. oscar)
Delivery with epidural - $2,800

So meaning if we ahead with her, the birth will cost $1,600 + $2,800 + $3,500 (hospital fees estimate)?? Wah, didn't remember it was so expensive for our first born. A pity our first gynae retired, or we would have gone back to her..

Yup....it's around there....my per visit cost around 200 bucks incl medicine before 20th weeks. At least every 2 to 3 weeks gap for 1 visit. After 20 weeks, i just signed package around 1K. I rem we also pay 5 to 6.5K for a normal delivery plus hospital fee at mount Alvernia 4 years back.

My gynae's package is $1000 after 20 weeks detailed scanning, before we signed the package, each visit costs around $180-$200.
Delivery package at Mount E, Normal with Epidural- $4k+ and doc fees $3500... i think we also have to pay for PD, Anaethetics doc fees and some other stuffs?

Just an update
After checking out a few gynaes (and spending a small fortune on their consultation fees ), we went back to my original gynae that delivered my first one for advice. She told us her rates were dirt cheap and that was one of the reasons why she decided to stop delivering babies, as it was very hard for her to raise her rates. So I guess no choice but to go ahead and pay $10k for one delivery

Is a package $1800 from 16 weeks with medicine and scans all in considered the high end in terms of pricing?

mine is at $1000 after 12 weeks (gynae say after 3 months) include scans and consultation . exclude detail scan and medicine and any other non compulsory check. Oh it indicate planned/scheduled visits only.

I am with Dr. Heng Tung Lan. Her package starts from second trimester at 1000 and her normal delivery fees is 2300. I find her rates quite affordable and she is very good!

It is only the delivery fee. hospital will charge you the package depending on which type of room and how u deliver your baby. On top still have doctor's fee and your baby stay in hospital as well... my bill in total after minus the deduction from medisave was less than 5K when i was discharged.

I delivered my second boy on March 2015 at KKH. I wasn't prepared to deliver in SIngapore, and we just walked in when water broke in car. Arrived at 24 hours clinic and gave birth at the observation area! They still put be at labor ward after I delivered, for a good 6 hours. I was check-in to A1 ward at 11am, so I only paid 1 night stay instead of the usual 2 nights stay for natural birth.

Because I am walk-in with no prior gynae records in Singapore, they did not offer me the delivery package. But I believe my bill is still cheaper than package, even though it is all ala carte pricing. I was not able to enjoy Maternity Medisave Package of max $900 claims too.
