Which milk fomula is the best?

I'm wanted to start off my gal with formula for the 1st time after breastfeeding her so long since birth till almost 2yrs old. But I'm at a lost at which formula is good for her and what are the pros and cons in different formula?what are the cost?

The two most popular or slightly better ones are Similac and Enfalac. Most private hospital seems to recommend Similac. My boy started off with Similac, but I switch to Enfalac from 6mths onwards as he has lessen his milk intake. It really depends on your child.

But one thing i found between the two is that Similac seems to have more "bubbles" whereas enfalac doesnt, and my boy seems to be more "heated" when he takes Similac. (pass motion less).

Like I said it all depends on your boy. Hope this helps [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I am thinking of weaning off my child too. I gave her enfalac but she didnt like the taste. Thinking of trying out Dumex...any comments on this brand?

A friend once told me and I agree, that the 'best milk' is one that your baby drinks.

So as long as your baby drinks the milk, just stick to it?

My bb drinks Friso.. cheapest somemore hehehe.

I have lot of friends using similac, then later change to enfalac. They realised that their bbs always have alot of phlegm when drinking similac, after change, no more phlegm issue. My 1st on enfa until 2yo then change to fresh goat milk, as she will have bad reflux when using similac, 2nd on breastmilk until 2yo then to fresh goat milk too. Hope this help.

Hi

My bb used to drink Dumex but find that it produced a lot of phelgm. Then we switched to NAN these days he seldom have cough and phelgm.

My 2 yr-old son has been drinking Mamil Gold. Since your gal is almost 2, FM should be served as supplementary in her diet since solid food is more important for her growth. I had tried some other brands of FM but most of them caused constipation after feed. So I just stick to Mamil Gold until now. To me, whatever suits ur kid the best is good for her (although diff FM companies have their own claim on their products' speciality)

my 2 kids are both on breastmilk and switch them to similac based on most of the reviews i gathered from this site

i think similac formula is suppose to help soften stools and closest "imitation" to BM.

both my kids have drank similac and gone onto gain iq

no problems at all

My boss is fussy over milk. I have started with Similac to Enfalac and finally he is willing to drink NAN. Sometimes it really depend on baby preference too.

Hi, my doctor recommends NAN HA since its the closest to breastmilk.

When i weaned my bb off breastmilk i started her off with HA, after some time i switched to NAN PRO cos HA is too expensive..

Ya i also heard that NAN is the closest to breastmilk that's y i started off by giving my current 1 mth old with NAN HA [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] but i also got partial bf la [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I gave my son Nan HA 1 also (as recommended by PD), but I found his stool is very smelly (abit darker colour also). After 6mths, I switch to Friso 2, the stool colour change to abit yellowish and the smell is not so strong. However, friso powder simply produce too much foam (even with light swirl), and the milk bottle is full of big bubbles when my son finished the milk (quite scary). My son has sensitive stomach since birth (getting bloated and wind easily), and it seemed that friso has cause some wind for him. Then, i switch to Nan Pro 2 now, 2 days of feeding, his stomach wind does not seem quite good also (has not been able to sleep well at night). I wonder should i continue to give Nan Pro 2 or switch powder again.. : ( Anybody can advise?

I found good organic milk brand for my baby. Lactose free to get him to convert from breast milk.

I have few tins left of this milk, Baby's only. Brand from US. Although stated toddler milk, its suitable for infants below 12 months as they cannot market to infants as breastmilk is encouraged prior to 12 months.

Not many places in Singapore sell, I came across in Vitakids, S$36/tin. Will sell for S$30/tin.

Hi mummies,

i have more than 20 packs of frozen breastmilk packs that I don't intend to keep ( planning to breastfeed for nine months at least). Anyone interested for a small token of one pack of baby wipes? collection at jurong west.

PS: my baby is currently 7 weeks old.

Dear mummies

I was in the mid of switching milk for my baby so only use 4 scoops of milk on the NAN HA 3 (900g). Willing to let go at a cheaper price as my baby doesn't like.

Interested please email me @ [email protected]

I'm looking out for Friso 3 if anyone have it 400g, please PM me. Thanks.

my son has been on Enfalac (known for high DHA) since birth, he is now 3plus. His lung became weaker after bronchitis last year. I switched him to TMC and realised that most milk powders are heaty and causes phlegm for todds. It was by chance that I switched to Pediasure (diluted a bit from recommended dose) that I realised being lactose free, his phlegm gradually lessened as well. He is also less heaty now which is better for his lungs. Pediasure also contains appetiser which has helped him to eat better. For those feeding goat milk., i'll just like to share that what I learned from TMC is that its even heatier than cow milk though goat milk doesn't cause phlegm.

Hi teatreesg, just sharing that I use to have that problem but after trying out the Young Living Essential oils that almost everyone I know is raving about, I can see a lot of improvements with my gal. She used to be on HA milk as I was worried about heatiness and phlegm issues...but with the oils aiding her, I finally took bought Enfa for her (shes currently 4 yrs old and only drink 2 cup per day, once in the morning and before sleep) She loves the milk a lot. :)
