14 mth old baby without signs of tooth, normal?

Sharebear,

I know how u feel. my girl turn 13 mth and just started sprouting her 2 front teeth. And its not even completed yet.. U try feeling her gums, can feel anything hard??? How's her feeding on solids??? My girl no doubt no teeth but can eat biscuits and rice. According to her infant care teachers, they have a few babies like this. Tell me not to worry. All my prev 2 kids, start teething from 6 mths onwards.

Hi B2B3M4,

My friend's girl also started teething at 13mths like ur girl, so when mine reached 13m, i was quite hopeful, then now 14m already, still no signs, find it worrying already. yup, my girl is also like urs, can eat biscuits, rice etc cos use gums to break down the food[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] but a lot of other stuff can't eat...n she doesn't really salivate etc which is a sign of teething, so i may hv to wait till her 15m check up to enquire. but thks for sharing, really appreciate it! Hi sharebear, my girl only started teething at 15 mths. 4 teeth at one go. 2 on the top and 2 at the bottom. She is now going to 18 mths but still 4 teeth. The bottom 2 are still small and not fully out.

I have checked with a GP before. She said dun have to worry. The teeth will come out when it is time. I asked her when I shld take action. She said if still no teeth by 2 yrs old, can bring my girl to take x-Ray. I was not convinced. I think wait till 2 yrs old is a bit late.

I have also checked with my dentist on this. He said can go to those polyclinics w dental dept to get referral to see I think pd dentists at sgh. Had intended to bring my girl there if still no teeth by 15 mths. Her teeth were finally out then. Phew! Saved me my time and $ [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi MLLow

It's very nice of u to share! my girl is gog on to 15mths now, ur reply gave me hope[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] actually i also asked poly nurse during check up, to them, teething is not a developmental milestone such as walking. but to me n to u too, it's worrying cos teeth is impt for eating n speech development, right?

can i know what signs ur girl showed when teething then?[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Ya, I was worried then. I wondered if I have done anything that I shouldn't have done or did not do things that I should have done to cause her late teething.

She was cranky and fussy abt food when teething. She also often woke up in the middle of the night crying (she is the sleep-through-the-night baby).

I had thought teething babies like to bite things but my girl was not really interested in biting things. She was not interested in

teething rusks and teethers.

Hi MLLow,

Dun worry. My girl is now 17 month old and not even a single tooth. Bringing her to PD tonite for routine check-up/ vaccination and will ask again on her toothless condition.

Will update again with new info.

Hi MLLow, juwil, Sweet

thks for sharing! to juwil, how's the PD's review? [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

realise all of us have girls, not boys who are toothless after a yr old!

Sorry for the late reply.

PD told me not to worry. All her teeth are just waiting to be breaking out from her gums. The more obvious ones are her incisors (vampire teeth). She will be a case that her teeth will come out all out at the same, the usual scenario is one by one. When the teeth do come out, it will be more evenly space (less chance of crooked teeth).

She is also one of those bb with lesser number of teeth, in adulthood she may not have wisdom tooth.

Early next month, she will be 18 month old. I guess she will be breaking the PD's record. PD says the oldest BB he had seen with no tooth is 18month old.

Hi juwil

thks for taking the time to reply! [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I c, appreciate the explanation n all. so it may not be such a bad thing to hv teeth coming out late after all! plus pt is more evenly spaced teeth n no wisdom teeth, no need endure pain if need to remove etc.

my GP said his child only grew teeth at 18mths too, so he wasn't concerned when i told him my girl has no teeth too.

hope ur girl's 1st tooth appear soon[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi mschan,

finally i saw my girl's tooth seem to be appearing n she's turning 15 mths old tmr! it's the bottom centre one[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] saw a little bit of jagged white thing there, shld be a tooth i hope!

You ladies have made me feel so much better now that I'm not alone. My child is 9mths now with no teeth and I'm starting to worry.

haha 9mths really can't be compared to you guys [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi wsioky

Don't worry, my girl's tooth is appearing slowly at almost 16 mths now, n she can speak quite well, n eat like a hungry bear![IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

My gal incisors break through her gums just rite before cny. Nw her bottom front tooth is cutting out from her gums. So all mummies no worries, when it comes...it comes. She is turning 19mths nxt week.

Thanks all mums for your kind input and advice given from your PD. My gal turns 1yo today and still no sign of tooth popping.

My mum nagged me this morning to bring her to see a doc which Im quite hesitant to do so cos still feel different baby grows teeth at diff rate.

Now that I read about this thread, have such great relief! Thanks again!

hi jennifer, at 25mths now, she still only has 10teeth, with 2-3 popping out[IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] so a lot of food is out of bounds to my greedy girl!

Hi ladies,

Can understand how some of you feel. Mine is turning 11 months and still no signs of teething yet... Checked with doc/PD before but they say it's ok as long as he's still eating well and nails/hair still growing normally.

But whenever we go out, pple are asking "how come no teeth yet??"

haha.. add on to the pressures...

Thanks for sharing hor!!!!
