Advice needed

Hi, we are in a dilemma. Our baby girl was born in the states and is a US citizen by birth. Recently we are contemplating whether we shd take up SG citizenship or PR. We dont intend to stay in the states, but at the same time, would not want to give up her US citizenship, at least not so soon. SG does not allow dual citizenship when the child reaches 22 years old.

Any mummies with related experiences to share?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Rayne, you can still get her a SG citizen now (I'd assume either you or her dad is a Singaporean). Until she's 15 yr old (I think, because mine is a boy and he needs to enlist for NS).

My son is born in SG and we also apply US citizenship for him. So currently he's both a US and SG citizen until he is 15yr then we'll have to decide.

Hope this helps.

Thankfully she's a girl and she can decide if she wants go work and study in the States. My friend had both and she only decided at 21 to drop her green card, she kinda regrets it some days but it was her decision.
