Anyone doing IVF in 2020?

Hi Ladies, i like to ask if we are schedule to do IVF in KKH, are we able to start immediately from next menses cycle (next month)? or we need to queue for few mths?

Hi Hazel, it depends on a few factors eg whether the lab will be closed for cleaning etc. I wanted to do in Dec at KKH but the lab was closed for a month. I have no choice but to wait for Jan. There is also a small block out period this month due to CNY too. Luckily I am able to start before this mini window too!
Can I understand your definition of schedule ? Do you mean that you have done all the tests and attended the counseling as well?

Hi cyspace, thanks for replying. Yes i done all tests. Seen doc today and agreed on IVF. She asked me to wait for a call from hosp to go down for counseling. Im a private patient. Not sure if it wil be faster. Gotta plan my time and work schedule. :)
To add on, today is my menses 1st day, so im wondering if im able to start in next cycle.

They will let you know whether there is any block out period during counseling. It also depends on your condition. I almost cannot start on my first cycle due to follicles issue. Luckily, they did a blood test and confirm that I can start the cycle.

Oh is there more blood test to be done even after confirming to start IVF?

Hi! Planning to start ivf this year, currently with kkh and cleared all tests. If we were to switch to nuh do we have to repeat our tests (tests results are within 6 months). Anyone who switched from kkh to nuh, appreciate if u can share ur experience thanks!

He used super loose boxers and pants along with cooling pads (that is a brand from the US that sells this cooling pads for men)

As the doctor said heat might cause destruction of sperms

He still does it till now because i think the cooling pads are comforting
Hihi where do u buy this ? Can you buy online ?

Online...the brand is snowball...shipped from the US.
You can actually buy just the snowball refill packs without the briefs (much cheaper) and use it by itself. My husband does not really wear the briefs that came with the cooling pad as its a bit fitting typw

I'm wondering if you all plan to rest during the TWW or will resume to work? I am having a dilemma between the two, I'm worried that having a break, I will think alot and time will crawl by.. and whether will going to work be a better option as I can keep my mind occupied, but I am worried sometimes work get very busy and a little stress out...

I think it depends on the nature of your job. I don’t think I’ll take the full 2 weeks off. But I’ll also probably consult dr on his professional opinion, taking into consideration your condition, circumstances, etc.

I am also taking the whole 2 plus weeks off. It really depends on your body conditions. Read from forum "Anyone doing ivf in 2019" , there is lady who went back to work before the 2 weeks are up.

I plan on not taking any leave at all...dont want to think too much about it. Will be on the day of the procedure itself.

First, need to keep the cooling pads in the fridgd (chiller). Once it's cold, need to place it in the briefs (there is a compartment for it) and wear it as usual.

Your husband can also just choose to place the cooling pad on his private part while relaxing or lying down on the bed for 15-20 mins, till the coldness wears off. Then just keep the cooling pad in the fridge. I got 5 cooling pads in total with 2 briefs. Did not end up using the briefs at all.

My husband uses this almost everyday for 15-30 mins a day because he says it is actually soothing.

Not sure if they are all the same. Never tried normal eye cooling pad as we are afraid the cooling material might be different. Dont wanna end up doing harm. Plus the snowballs shape is designed for that specific body part.

I really dont know if it helped or combination of that and vitamins, but his numbers which was normal during the first analysis did go up quite a lot, almost double 3 months later. The motility also doubled. Morphology remained unchanged though. There were lots of improvement based on the sperm analysis after 3 months.

That's great news !

Did he take other supplements too besides using this cooling patch ?

Hi all, Happy New Year 2020!
I would like your opinions on iui/ivf.
I have pcos and was put on clomid for several rounds (unsuccessful for all). I just did the HSG test and my tubes are clear. I am below 30 years old and am really inclined to try iui first (age factor, etc). But my hubs suggested going for ivf straightaway.

I’ll seek advice from my gynae on my next appt, but would really like to hear other input as well. Should i try iui first or go straight to ivf? Thanks in advance!
For me my take would be to try SO-IUI....i have a similar problem to yours and i was older (34) when i did my first SO-IUI ...my issue is similar to yours-irregular periods and not knowing when i ovulate....tubes are clear and hubby is ok too in terms of tests.....i succeeded in the 2nd round of SO-IUI...for my first pregnancy....for baby #2 also i did the SO-IUI route and also was successful 2nd time...thank God....probably some advice would be to avoid cold drinks...keep your feet warm at night....and take brazil nuts! ( esp during the 2 ww implantation stage of IUI )...
IVF is more invasive....so will have more down time ..so yeah do try SO-IUI first ....( I did a combi of clomid ( to stimulate ovulation and SO-IUI- the puregon jabs)

So happy to hear that! Thanks for sharing your input! :) Did you take leave away from work after your IUI procedures?

No worries....just sharing as I also went through that experience...( not once but twice!) ...I was given a day of MC on the day of the procedure and i took 1 day off work the day after just to rest....Other than that didnt do anything special probably just ate more brazil nuts and drank red bean soup after the IUI ( seemed to have work cos the first round of IUI i didnt eat/ drink haha i was quite crazy to even eat red bean pancake etc /bread apparently it helps with implantation.....haha

Hi All,

Just a back story bout me:
I’m 24 yrs old this year. I conceived naturally Mar2019 but unfortunately baby passed away in mmc when i was 12 weeks preg. Since then we tried naturally but no luck. Hubby went for testing for SA in jb results were great. Sperm concentration was 51mil/ml and clearly no prob with him. Took some BT with the fertility specialist in JB and was told that I had low AMH. Then prescribed me with DHEA and took meds for 3 months, no results. Stopped taking it and decided to go to KKH for help. Scheduled appt with Dr Sadhana and did a whole lot of BT all over again, this time properly cause she mentioned to go on certain CD. Found out that my AMH no issues at all, so jb doc was just full of crap. Only found that my progesterone level abit low maybe due to im anemic. Googled and found that anemia can be due to the reason im not ovulating regularly. I also forgot to mention that inhave 6cm fibroid at the frontal part of my uterus but when i did a hy-fo-sy test to check my tubes and uterine cavity, thank god my fibroid not in the way. my tubes also not blocked and doc ruled out endometriosis cause uterine cavity was a-okay. Sadhana wanted me to go try letrozole cycle first, but hubby insisted on something better and higher chance. She did not want to recommend me SO-IUI coz of my fibroid. Scared of multiple pregnancy and can risk me and bbs if ever bfp. So she scheduled for IUI only and gave me letrozole. So I just got this gut feeling that this won’t work and if it doesn’t I’ll just have another meltdown of how I could have did something more and changed the situation or insisted on something more.

I went back and googled and watch a ton of YouTube vids abt success rates iui vs ivf and also the risks. I will also be starting my next CD1 on the feb 8 2020, and coincidentally will not be working till the next month. So that could be the only time that I’ll have to not be on MC/HL and having to explain to my employers why take so many mc/hl.

I also decided to ask in my whatsapp group(TTC) about what they think about sadhana and also my iui journey. Most of em think its just a waste of time and money and sadhana, yes she is very experienced, but will always play safe. She’ll want to ensure all steps fail first before resorting to IVF(for my case). And maybe I can’t vibe with her well cause she was the least friendliest lah, maybe cause she think both me and hubby young. So I called the KKH appt line to schedule another visit with any other gynae apart from sadhana just to seek for second opinion. Went in with Dr Khong Chit Chong and he was just an angel. He was super gentle, super nice, funny at times too and also cleared me for IVF. He understands that the issue is that me and hubs were young and been trying for 2 years with no luck on live birth and that could be the issue.
Went for a BT for Full Blood Count and results were all within range except for my haemoglobin count were low cause I am anaemic. Now waiting for the BT review next week and Doc say if my thyroid levels were ok no issues with going for IVF.

currently am already thinking to switch to dr Khong CC but will see with the next appt on how he relates to me first.

Hopefully my ivf protocol will start in feb. In any case my point here is, yes ivf is not 100% sure thing but if this fails at least i know that i tried my very best already. Hoping to get bfp this year!

Hi all! Happy CNY!

I just started TTC last year. Just went for fertility check at KK November last year as wanted to try IVF since I’m turning 40 this year. I have 2 issues. I am not ovulating every month and the other issue which is polyp thus need to remove before I can proceed further.

Doc proposed SO-IUI instead of IVF as me and husband don’t have major issue but I’m considering as I’m 40 in few months time and wish to utilise government co-funding for the first time hence looking at IVF. Have scheduled polyp removal in late March and 3 weeks later need to see doc again to confirm all clear before starting IVF. Not sure if I’m in time for IVF before mid June which is my birthday. :(

I do have some questions below hope you guys can give some valuable info or advice. Thank you :)

SO-IUI also can qualify for government co-funding right? I hope to start one cycle now before I hit 40 to be eligible for subsequent government subsidies after 40 if trying IVF later.

Should I start with SO-IUI or straight to IVF given my age? SO-IUI seems more simpler and less invasive. My egg reserve is ok but I’m not sure about the quality.

Hi ladies..

I'm supposed to go for my second fresh cycle in November 2019 but I felt like I was not ready after a failed cycle with 11 eggs fertilised, 2 transferred and none frozen.

I am thinking of going for the next cycle soon. Currently waiting for my period. But.. I feel so disheartened recently. I feel scared that it wil fail again. Before I started this journey, I quit smoking & drinking to help with conceiving. Now, I find myself wanting a cigg or a drink because I feel like it's never going to happen for me.

Anybody felt the same way before? Having second thoughts about IVF? My hubby doesn't pressure me, he said it's not a problem at all whether we have kids or not. But I'm the one feeling worried and less than a woman everyday. So stressful..

Hi I just started my cycle with KK, I vaguely remember my doc mentioning Clomid but I today I realized it’s not part of my prescriptions given by the IVF centre.

I’ve only been given folic acid, Gonal F injections and Jabs for stopping ovulation (forgot what it’s called) . Is it normal that clomid / Leterozole is not given ?
Thanks!

Hi Ladies, had my first appointment today at nuh with Dr Stephen Chew. We were with kkh ivf center for our first so iui cycle and decided to switch to nuh for a shorter waiting time for ivf. Overall experience was pleasant, shorter waiting time for consultation and blood tests results. We didn't had to repeat any of the tests we did at kkh (all cleared) but did a tsh blood test today and unfortunately the results are not ideal, reading is kinda high and I'm going back tomorrow for another blood test. Was kinda sad knowing this because we cleared all tests and thought all was good for ivf but seems like this will cause some delays? Is it true we cant proceed with ivf if i have thyroid issues? Any ladies here proceeded with ivf with thyroid issues? I'm turning 36 this year and really wanted to start the cycle soon. :(

hey everyone! yes I am doing my 5th IVF FET this year in April most likely. been with dr foong the last two times. I am also awaiting blood test results from dr sheila vasoo...trying to find out if I have any immunological issues...is there a WhatsApp or support group here? it has been a gruelling two years for me...

Anyone doing ivf at sgh? Wanted to start ivf next week but now got the wuhan virus thing, scared do half way they declare must close the ivf centre and must stop all ivf case. Will waste money and energy. And it's hard to have a suitable time to do ivf since husbands always flying for work. How ah? Haiz.

Hello Ladies... I'm a Mummy of 1... Currently, my boy is coming 21mths thru' IVF (Fresh cycle)...

And now, am doing 1st time of Blastocyst Frozen Embryo Transfer.. Anyone is having the same journey with me?? I understand the Fresh vs Frozen embryo is different.. So, am just worried if this cycle fails... =(

Given the nod this am to go ahead with FET for end Feb/beg Mar after all the tests/scan. Anything to eat/take prior to menses other than protein/red bean soup/folic acid?
