Anyone..any advice?? Been ttc for 2 years and would like to seek yr advice:
I went to kkh for a hsg recently while my hub did the semen analysis with the hospital as well. The outcome looks ok except for 2 fibroids which the doc strongly advised me to remove.
Background: I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2015 and that was only after a mth of ttc. As the foetus wasn't "stuck" in any of my tubes, my tubes are intact till today. E doc who attended to me back then told me that while cleaningup the insides, she saw some fibroids lying in my uterus (partially protuding out to the uterus) which I might wan to consider removing. Her suggestion was for me to review this in 6 mths' time. If there was growth in the fibroids, I might want to remove. After 6 mths, the review showed that the size was relatively the same. Hence, she said I can just continue to try concieve but of cos, the option to remove the fibroids was still avail. I chose the earlier.
After 2 years of ttc with no success, i did this hsg and the doc raised the issue about fibroids removal again. I hv 2 (1 intramural/ submuscosal at 2.3cm and another submuscosal at 2.9cm). I don't really feel any intense pain for my menses despite having the fibroids which is a gd thing.
Is it really essential to remove the fibroids?? And is it a protocol for all fibroids to be removed before we can proceed with iui or ivf? Any one who had successfully reduced the fibroids' size? If your was managed through tcm, can let me know which tcm? Or anything that I can eat or do to reduce the size? I really don't want to go through the ops if it is not absolutely necessary.

Yes...i absolutely agree with u. I love CNY minus all the incessant nagging, questioning and insenitive comments from friends n relatives. *roll eyes*
Fibroids can reduce your fertility in these ways:
- Fibroids that change the shape of your cervix can affect the number of sperm able to enter the uterus.
- Fibroids that block the Fallopian tubes can make the journey of a fertilized egg to implantation difficult or impossible.
- Fibroids which change the shape of your uterus may decrease the number of places an embryo can successfully implant or reduce uterine space needed for embryo development.
- Fibroids that weaken the lining of the uterine cavity or decrease the blood supply to a growing embryo can cause miscarriage.
My buddy did get pregnant with fibroid and it grows with pregnancy. She remove it after giving birth. There is some risk of pregnancy with fibroid too.

I was told to remove my fibroid before starting my ivf to increase the chances of getting preg.
Thanks daledale! Do u know if yr friend went to any TCM to tiao the body for fibroid issues? If so, can recommend?
Yes, one gynae also told me that ladies with fibroids can still concieve. So he left it open ended for me to decide if i want/ dont want to remove the fibroids. But 2 years on with no success, i'm now back to the issue if there is indeed a need to remove them.
My frd just started seeing a tcm for fibroids. Not sure if got result yet. She only start this week.
Thanks snow19. So did u remove the fibroids in the end? I was advised by the doc at kkh that I need to go for 1 injection - Lucrine Depot. This injection will make me go into a semi menopause period for a couple of mths so that I can reduce the size of the fibs before going for the surgery to remove. I guess the semi menopause will then stop me for trying for that few mths? There is a down time. Also, im not sure if allowing my body to go thru this semi menopause is good or not. And my fib sizes r less than 3cm.

Yup i remove it before I start my ivf journey. My ivf doc recommend mi to remove it in order to have success in the preg. I didn have any injection i just went for the day surgery n they remove it

Tried again in 2016 oct and bfp on may 2017 but end up baby had acrania at 13w and terminated pregnancy.
Hoping to get a baby soon, went for ivf testings this month and got rejected due to extreme low egg reserve of AFC 2 only. Was told can only do natural ivf if really want to.
Any idea if any other ivf doc may be helpful in my situation or I should just try tcm and continue trying on my own.

Sorry to hear about your low egg reserve issues. I have not gone for IVF yet so won't be able to comment. Are you currently with KKH or private doc?

I Suffered 2 MC last year. Since then been trying to conceive but all I get is a negative. As I am getting older, I was wondering what kind of vitamins or pills u wld recommend..? For both Husband and Wife although I don’t think there is anything wrong with me.
I had have done a couple of blood test, is that enough to proof that everything is fine with me..?? But I did D&C before, do u think it cld have cause scarring that it making it hard to get pregnant now? If so what wld u recommend for me to do? Any test?

I strongly recommend u start detailed fertility checkup if u wanna conceive. Then u will be able to know if everything is really clear and good. Initially we also thought everything was ok until we realised both of us are alpha thalessemia minor. Then I’ve tried TCM for my supposedly cold uterus... Did D&C to remove polyp cos may affect implantation. Changed my diet. Did IVF and acupuncture. And thankfully conceive my girl. Who was the only viable embryo.

Hi blissfullife, i agree that you should have a detailed checkup too. We did the checks which all came out fine and was told to keep trying, only after 3 years when i consulted a specialist then i found out that i had endometriosis, which can only be confirmed via laparoscopy. If you think that your current gynae is not helping, please seek a second opinion. I wish i did not wait that long.

1. Anyone being through long protocol for ivf? (As my last rest only 2 eggs retrieved thus doctor say to try long protocol. I am having low amh).
2. What they monitored? I understand they shut off your body natural hormones before they start. So am i right to say their first scan shouldnt see any follicles but lining only?
3. How many eggs being retrieved and fertilised when you go through this long protocol?

Sigh, I am beginning to get sick of putting on a smile and say 'oh, your baby is so cute and he looks just like you.' Even my hubby's younger brother has a new born baby and everyone just surround them with joy. I am so sick until it all show on my face during my reunion dinner. So embarrassing. Even when I asked my sister who has an infant daughter whether she wants to catch a cny movie with me, her reply is a frustrated 'No time'. Haiz, I know it is unhealthy to feel negative but just cannot help it. Been to gynaecologist and took hormone test. My progesterone level is on the low side. Could this be the main cause of infertility ? I am on the malnourished side. But I just cannot gain weight even if I eat 2 bowls of rice.

I think the concern for those underweight is that your period might be irregular. I'm very skinny but thankfully i have regular periods and health is good. However, still not conceiving. Hi Raspberry, my progesterone level is also low. Similarly, I am slim and cannot gain weight even if I overeat.
I failed my 1st SO-IUI and now seeing tcm at Eu Yan Sang Clinic. Hope the tcm medication works for me. TCM said my womb is cold.

I did go to EYS for 6 months cause it was convenient but it didn't seem to have any effect and the physician did not say much, so i stopped. I did not go to any of those popular TCM clinics. I refrain from drinking cold drinks, maybe just once in a long while, i take ginger tea often, wear bedroom slippers at home and socks to sleep. Basically you need more warming food like soups, stews etc. I used to have cold feet 24/7, now it has improved. Maybe you can try too

i have been trying for more than 1 year. i went through all checks including HSG, no blockage. Doc suspects that although i have regular periods, i may not be ovulating. This is gathered from the blood test results. i seldom take cold drinks or food, not even ice cream. i do drink longan red date tea to keep warm. i do wear socks to sleep too.

I am also the skinny kind..eat alot also cant grow fat..maybe only tummy..haha because deskbound job...

Don't worry about being skinny if you are ovulating regularly and have no other issues after checks, my BMI is only 15.8 hehe.

Progesterone blood test is best taken 7 days after ovulation for more accurate results. Once i did it on 2 DPO and it obviously showed that i did not ovulate, but i retook the test at 6dpo and it showed normal levels.

my BMI also not much better than u...16.4..hehee....but yea as long got ovulate and no issues...I have a retroverted uterus that doc and TCM said it doesnt affect fertility..But somehow I think it maybe slightly difficult to conceive than others..will need my hb army to be more and strong...

Which EYS Branch and which doc did u visit? Ur health improved under his/her care?

Just chanced on this post. I hope to give you some encouragement here..i have retroverted uterus too. And true that what your tcm and doc told u, it doesn't affect fertility!
As long as ur cycle is regular, keep trying. Maybe u should cut down on cold drinks and eating 'liang' stuff (if u constantly do), cuz they cause our wombs to be cold.

I had been trying for 2years, started with TCM after one year of trying, no good news till today. Went for blood test before and knowing that my progesterone level is Low, I am having regular period, but it is consider as little every cycle. Taking bbt everyday, and the ovulation kits every month yet I am still fail to conceive. Was thinking to go for fertility check up, any recommendation? TMC or KKH is better/ faster? Shall make the appt after period?

I visited the branch at Compass One, the Senior Physician on duty was Dr Zhou, can't remember her full name. I feel warmer while taking the tcm medication. I only seen her once bef CNY, yet to go for a review.

I am with KKH through polyclinic referral letter. I decided on KKH due to govt subsidies for the tests and scans.
have you all thought of taking quality supplements to bridge the nutritional gaps ? our bodies can only function optimally when the cells are in a healthy mode. Given today's lifestyle and diet . our bodies are definitely not getting what they require. i have personally seen friends got pregnant and given birth to healthy babies after starting on supplements.

I tried about 1yr+..going 2yrs soon..
Have done basic fertility test and sperm test.. so far my amh all that still ok, my hb result not so good..so currently we seeing the clementi tcm..hopefully can help us..

I was with waterway point EYS, i feel that they are not the "pro" for fertility, for normal health they are proficient.
Hopeful_tadada, do you take BBT? I use that to confirm my ovulation each month because everyone ovulates different time of the cycle. You did the CD21 blood test? That is provided you ovulate around CD14, if not it isn't accurate. Best to have a scan done to confirm ovulation too.
Michelle19, i also take BBT and use digital ovulation tests! I've only gone thru checks with TMC via private gynae because i can't bear to wait any longer to queue up for tests etc.

For fertility checks there are many different clinics, like those in KKH after referral from polyclinic, there are the private gynaes, and there are the fertility clinics like virtus and thomson fertility clinic. I went to all private cause i'm desperate to have a baby :X My first gynae i did blood tests, HSG and sperm analysis for hubby. Current gynae i did more blood tests and more transvaginal ultrasounds and SA for hubby again.
This last cycle i felt like i needed to count the swimmers responsible, i always thought i had the most problems, but even after doc told me my lining was very good, we didn't conceive! Likely the egg didn't even fertilize -_-"

I tried for about a year..it'd be extremely good if u know your fertile window..cuz for me when i started ttc, i didn't really keep track of such stuff till couple of cycles later..

i was like you also, even how my lining was good at triple lining...eggs gd etc, also didn't result in anything.. sigh..
3 iui later and nothing happens..
let's all just keep on trying !

Hi Babylovin, thanks for your encouragement. I have taken the hormone test as instructed by the gynae and that is why I know my progesterone level is on the low side. Yes, I am skinny and more likely to be malnourished (something I have been trying to overcome but to little success). My period used to be regular but lately my period start date started to go haywire. I was 3 days late which I thought my late period was due to pregnancy but nah, false hope false alarm. Then my current one that just started was 2 days earlier. Gosh ! What is happening. Could it be due to me eating multivitamins supplements ?

Hi Michelle19, sometimes i really feel it's difficult not to be stressed about it, once i get my yima i'll be really upset haha, other days i think i am coping well? I do recommend my doc, his clinic is STO+G, Dr Steven Teo. Call them for an appointment they are really sweet and kind. I was referred by my neighbour haha.

Hi Rainbowskies! Where did you do the 3 iui? My doc say iui is not very helpful for my case but can try. Do you feel that sometimes you just wish there was a real known cause that we can "blame" and improve on? Thanks for the encouragement i hope you continue fighting on too! What plans do you have now?

Hi Raspberry38, you just started your multivits? Perhaps it's regulating your cycle? Do you take evening primrose oil, it's quite useful for regulating cycle and increasing EWCM.
