Congratulations! Still early! Wouldn't be able to see much till week 6 or 7 at least!

Hi, there. I am new to this group. Tested positive on 18th June and saw gynea yesterday. 6 week +. But because I am over 40, this is a high risk pregnancy.

I'm intending to visit gynae in about 3 weeks time when I'm at about week 7. But morning sickness has started setting in. This is my #2. Had severe ms with #1.

What about for you ladies? :)

I'm seeing my gynae next Mon as I have a history of recurrent early miscarriages (around 6 to 7 weeks) and would need blood thinner medication, hormone support and monitoring of progesterone levels in early weeks. This is my #2 but 4th pregnancy.

Ahh I see. Good luck dear, everything will be fine! Just curious, you did find out the root cause for the early losses previously?

I went to see a specialist in rheumatology after my recurrent miscarriages but tested negative for common auto immune disorders like lupus, rheumatic arthritis, APS, ANA so could just be some unknown auto immune issue. Daily dose of aspirin along with hormone supplementation helped me have a successful pregnancy and a healthy daughter who is turning 3 this year.

Trying to feel positive this time round, but would feel more assured being monitored by my gynae. He knows my history so I don't have to repeat telecast!

Thanks tomm_elise!

This is #1 for me. When does MS usually kicks in? So far my boobs are sore and I'm thirsty all the time.

MS can kick in anytime, likely due to the surge of pregnancy hormones. Also your sense of smell is also more sensitive which may contribute to the nausea. It should get better in he 2nd trimester onwards.

Sore boobs are common. For thirst, might be the weather too!

After my 2nd miscarriage (consecutive in a row) my gynae sent me for blood test to check for common issues that cause recurrent miscarriages like anti phospholipid syndrome (APS, increased blood clotting) and anti nuclear antibody (ANA) where autoimmune systen may attack healthy cells. Both were negative. Even after seeing rheumatology specialist also it was inconclusive, just that I have some natural killer (NK) cells. Apart from that I have no other symptoms of an auto immune disease.

Anyway, my gynae was aware of studies that taking low dose aspirin daily for women with recurrent miscarriages may help (perhaps reduce blood clotting) so he prescribed me to be on that for my 3rd pregnancy (I went to see him early ard 4-5 weeks), all the way till 30 something weeks and seened to help. May want to speak with your gynae about this.

I missed my menses for 8 days and today I tested positive from the pregnancy kit. Can I do transvaginal scan to confirm the pregnancy? How to confirm for pregnant?

Usually the home pregnancy test is very accurate. If you see the gynae, they may do a blood test (HCG). If doc wants to monitor HCG, the blood test has to be repeated every 2 to 3 days.

At 4 to 5 weeks, not much can be seen from a belly scan. Via a trans vaginal scan, doc may be able to see a gestational sac. Usually more can be seen around 6 to 7 weeks onwards.

Anyway ladies, remember to take folic acid supplements, at least till week 12. It helps to prevent any neural tube defects for babies.

Thanks for sharing. Actually Next Week I am going for my routine check as I have endomemosis but now I found I am tested positive and at the same time I am worry will the cyst cause any danger to my pregnancy.

Not sure if transvaginal scan is safe for early pregnancy?

Can we do a blood test at week 3/4? Is it accurate and how fast is the result?

I do not have any sign of pregnancy and this makes me worry. Is spotting consider normal?

Discuss with your gynae your concerns. Blood test is most accurate as it measures the pregnancy hormone HCG in your blood. In healthy pregnancies HCG should double every 2 to 3 days.

Normal to have not many symptoms in early pregnancy too. Spotting can be common from implantation but best to discuss with gynae.

Actually if you are 8 days late, you should already be at week 5 to 6. It is calculated from your last menstrual period (LMP).

The first day of my last menses was 25th May. How do we calculate the number of weeks based on the last day or first day of menses? Sorry I thought is counted after ovulation.

I measure my body temperature and I find that night time seems to be higher. 37 degree

First day of previous menses. If you count from ovulation (for those with long cycles) you have to add 2 weeks. So you should be 4 to 5 weeks along

aspirin was just a tablet. I didnt have to have any injections. hcg blood tests every 2 to 3 days, for 3 to 4 times in the early weeks just to check that it doubles as per normal.

My edd should be around 5 March:) 2nd pregnancy for me after 8 years . Visited the Gynae last Friday and will be scheduled for 2nd visit 2 weeks later.

Congrats mummies!

Just wanna ask what kind of supplements are you all on for the first trimester? I was vomiting so hard for my first pregnancy few years ago I only rem I took folic acid at the advice of gynae.

I was given only folic acid as well by my GP. My gynae didn't give me anything else after he learnt that my GP has prescribed folic acid to me.

I am thinking of creating a secret FB page/whatsapp for the March 2018 Mummies so that we can also share. If you are keen, pm me your email for the FB group or your mobile for the whatsapp group? ;)

Hello All! Just tested positive on Sunday, EDD 8 March, this is my #4 :)
Just wondering if there's any FB group yet?

Actually, I have no idea how many weeks I am and my EDD. In fact, my pregnancy came as an absolute surprise because I thought I had my period on the 16 June ( I bled for 6 days).

Went to the GP because I had a terrible sharp lower abdominal pain and he did the pregnancy test for me anyway. Both of us were surprised that it came out positive and he referred me to the gynae immediately. Did a transvaginal scan but could not see anything. So gynae said that it may be very early stage of pregnancy. Going back for a review in 2 weeks time and hopefully by then I will get to know how many weeks I am in.

Hi Dearest Mummies to be...
I was hoping to seek some advice as we are planning to try for a baby. Any advice on the financial aspects? How much is a good range to have in our pockets?
Appreciate the advice!!

Actually costs varies...depending on what route of healthcare and confinement and stuffs for baby you go.

Stuffs like IKEA baby cot versus stokke baby cot. Combi stroller versus stokke stroller. There are so many alternatives out there. You know what I mean?

I would say first baby will usually need to get a lot more stuff. Taking into consideration confinement and delivery costs, I guess $15-$20k if you are going private. ($4-$7k cash payment will go into cash bill for private hospital delivery)

Hi Happycsk,

Thank you for the response! Appreciate it :)

I guess the next step would be the aftermath which is the baby diapers, milk powder etc! AND THEN SCHOOL! It is all so exciting but overwhelming at the same time.

Depending on your budget and comfort level.

I have received many hand-me-down infant clothes from friends, relatives and colleagues. So we did not purchase any clothings for our newborn for the first 6 months.

I chose to deliver at a restructured hospital and I find much cheaper than the private hospital. All in all, I paid about 2.6k in cash for an A1 ward. Like what Happycsk mentioned, depending on the brand of baby stuff you intend to purchase, the range can be very big. My hubby is an avid TaoBao shopper, we bought quite a lot of our baby stuff from there and saved quite a bit.

All the best!

Hi YTing,

Thank you for your advice as well. I guess having a figure in mind would help work towards saving plans. Appreciate it!

Hi, im a 1st time mummy here
Tested positive few days back and retest again using clear blue this morning to double confirm again. Positive 2-3 wks. Called my gynae and she say will only go dw for scan during my 6-7 wks. Did you all do a urine test to confirm yr pregnancy or a home based preg kit shd be gd enough?

Hi everyone!
I'm an early tester too. Tested positive by urine home kit.
I'm guessing I am around 4 weeks, if I calculated right EDD est 16 March.
Schedule for appt for next week. By week 5 - can only scan the amniotic sac.
Just to share - If you see gynea on the 6th week onwards - can hear heartbeat through scan.

For 6 weeks, need a transvaginal scan to see heartbeat or no?

I really want to see the heartbeat but I'm holding out to do a normal US scan at week 7....

I think it really varies from mom to mom / baby to baby. Some can see heartbeat at week 7. Some week 8. Hope you'll be able to!!
I hate transvaginal scans. lol.
