I just realised I'm pregnant and are looking for a gynae. Noted last reviews on Dr Woo some time back in 2014. Wonder if anyone engaging him now?

As I tried to book appt and the recept was telling me I can go anytime, there's not much patients. This worried me as to is he not good? Thus not much patients?

Hi,

My 3 kids were delivered by him. I am expecting no 4 now. He has a lot of patients. Do you believe that my 14 nieces and nephews including my kids all delivered by him?

Wow. .He must be very good then.
I just went for my first visit with him. It's a super long wait. As I'm a walk in customer, I waited 2 hr 45 min for him. But I must say that the wait is worthwhile as he is very patience and detailed. He clarified all our queries very well.

I hope this will be my rainbow baby where I get to hold in hand next year. Healthy baby n smooth delivery please

I went to him during my 8th week pregnancy on Mon. But he is not caring as he seems. He mentioned that he will most probably be away during my edd in early July 2016. I asked him which gynae that he will recommend, he said maybe just walk in to another clinic on the same floor as his or I am free to go anywhere. So I guess he's not interested to do my business.

I had an ectopic pregnancy earlier on. However, he wasn't the one to diagnose this. I was lucky that I didn't heed his advice to "wait and see how" for another week, otherwise, I might hv died. He wasn't caring either. I did my scans, abdomen as well as via the vagina at his clinic. Actually, the earlier scan requires you to drink water but the latter needs you to empty your bladder so that scans can be clear. I guess he was short of time, he knew my bladder was full but he went on to do both scans one after another with no break in between for me to empty my bladder. Yes, he didn't advise me to empty my bladder. I wouldn't go back to him again.

Oh goodness! That sounds bad! I am visiting him tomorrow. And are considering whether to sign a package with him.
My impression for him during my 1st visit was not bad.
But Zcshop, your review does waver my decision...

Which gynae did u go and will recommend?

I checked with the nurse as my estimated EDD is ard July 2016 too.
But the nurse say his leave is from end Apr to mid May 2016.
I think you should clarify with the nurse if u are still choosing him.

Not sure if I should choose him. But he told me that he will be away and I have asked him whether he's sure about it. He said most probably.
He's fine actually. But only that he's not truthful about his leave. That shows he's not interested in my business.
I guess he's quite popular in his clinic and he can't be bothered much that kind. When I asked him about the various tests since it's my first pregnancy, he just mentioned that he doesn't want to confuse me by telling me too much. I guess he's not happy because I went to another gynae to have my ultrasound scan for the first time. He told me to go to another gynae..

I haven't really visit a gynae thereafter. I feel that he is not the meticulous and caring kind. He drew my blood before and I hv gotten a serious bruise. I wonder how "good" he can then be in an operation to deliver babies.

I'll look for another gynae since I still have time. I'm 9 weeks into my pregnancy.

Why such strong sentiments? Please share your story with me.

I can only say that I have learnt my lesson the hard & painful way. I have move on. But of cos once bitten, if i still do not shine, something is wrong with me ya? :)

Happy doctor searching. (I will not be recommending any doctor to you because this is only my 2nd pregnancy, i am hoping that it will be a happy ending so that i can finally have a great doctor to introduce to friends)

I prefer not to reveal more here.

Noted :) Hopefully your current pregnancy will be a smooth and great one. Jiayou!

Hi mummies, I'm seeing Dr Woo for my 2nd pregnancy. Does anyone knows his Delivery fees at TMC?

Hello, he delivery for me 2 year plus ago. His price is quite normal just that i do not remember exactly. However his ability to manage the entire delivery processs cum post delivery processs is totally xyz xyz xyz.. I hope your experience you are going to have with him different from my personal experience very very significant. I look forward to read a happy report about him from you in due course.

Jia you, mummy

Just found this thread and want to put in a word.

I think you should go to Dr. Woo if you are more laid back type.

I'm quite comfortable with him because he doesn't scare me unnecessarily (unlike Judy Wong from TMC specialist doctor) and is quite "cost saving". His prices are reasonable; when asked about 3D scan of kid he advised that it is merely gimmick and after thinking about it I kind of see his point.

He doesn't say a lot and you will need to ask question but he does tell you the basics like what not to eat or check in on your symptoms etc.

I was seeing him even before I got married for birth control jabs and he always checked on my family planning schedule. So I feel that he has my history and it is easier to deal with him.

I hope other mummies also have positive experience because this is my first pregnancy and I am completely clueless.

Hello mummy, 3D scan is purely a fun thingy. It is 100% not medical. Should you decide to go for it, happy to inform you that your baby & yourself will not be subjected to any risk

Enjoy

I do not recommend Dr Woo Bit Hwa if you have weak heart.

I signed package with him for my #2 because my #1 gynae is far away in Sembawang. I moved to Tiong Bahru and Dr Woo is the nearest.

Dr Woo told me my #2 will be suspected of "thalassemia" due to my blood report. He then show me powerpoint slide of infant, toddler and teens pictures with all tubings and machines to overcome daily life. I broke down immediately. Dr Woo told my husband to undergo a blood test, if his blood count is also on the low, i probably have to draw fluid from my womb to confirm.

I took my blood test report back to my previous gynae, he simply fold the report into my folder and told me to trust him, continue with the pregnancy. My #2 is now 6 years old, as healthy as my #1 and #3!

I did talk to Dr Woo regarding my package refund since i only visited him twice and i am uncomfortable with him showing such pictures where verdict is not out. He claimed that he show them to all his patients and everyone can accept it except me. i was furious because of his tone and manner, of cos, he was reluctant to refund but he did only after i told him i will write to medical association to aviod others having pre-natal depression due to his action.

I agree with some of the above mummies. I had my first baby with Woo Bit Hwa but will NEVER recommend him to anyone. In fact, i am still trying to find out how i can lodge a complain or an investigation against him. The most unethical and evil hearted doctor!

Actually having a gynae is always a heng suay thing. If bad things happen to a mummy, gynae will be label as bad, if good things happen to a mummy, the gynae will be full of praise.
For Dr Woo Bit Hwa, both my 1st and 2nd kids are delivered by him and his stitching skills are superb as I can totally get off the bed and walk for few hours after delivery and do not feel much pain, healing is fast too. My colleague 2 kids are also delivered by him without complaints.
He is definitely not a chatter when comes to consultation but if you have questions, he will surely answer. He is not those doctor that will tell you to avoid everything. He once told me "You are not eating a whole island of it, in moderation is fine".
He is also a gynae who prefers natural birth rather than inducing forced labour unless way overdue in tummy.

Anyone know roughly how is his charges like? First visit? Subsequent visit?
You can sign up for his prenatal package during the first visit at $856 inclusive of GST. If something happen due to unforsee, he will refund accordingly after the nec deduction.

We went with him for our first baby as recommended by my relatives. He is affiliated with Thomson Medical. To be honest, I do not find him good or bad. My wife had an emergency csec at thomson and we paid cash of 13k for the whole ordeal. Baby was in NICU for roughly 3-4 days, while my wife was in a 6 bedder. Luckily, everything went well after that, despite 4 weeks premature

Second kid, decided to go SGH instead with no doctor chosen in mind. Long waiting time for gynae appts, low cost, and the whole childbirth went well. Only paid <5k, natural birth.

After 2 kids in both SGH & Thomson, I'd avoid Thomson seriously. My wife and I even suspect that she had a premature because the nurse was rough when checking for dilation, which causes the water to burst shortly after dilation checking. Perhaps if she had been gentler, we could have avoid the whole premature scenario.

We had the same experience with the same doctor and nurses for my 1st baby and it’s a lot more traumatised than yours.

i am having baby #2 now and I definitely won’t go back to the same doctor and Thomson Medical hospital after the most Traumatised experience in my whole life. He is those simply don’t care type of doctor and the Nurses in Thomson are not friendly at all definitely not worth the price for a pte hospital. i really do not wish anyone of you go thru what I went thru. Take care and hope we have a smooth delivery.

We had 4 babies delivered by him. The most recent is in Jan 2022. My sister 2 babies also delivered by him. Overall we find he is a good doctor and very experience. He not the kind will sweet talk but definitely professional.
We would recommend him to our friends.
