True Colours Festival: The Asia Pacific Celebration of Artistes with Disabilities

Inspiring, inclusive, and illuminating. This March, watch a concert like no other, visit a festival village to promote inclusiveness, and attend a conference to share knowledge. These are what you can look forward to at the inaugural festival of True Colours: The Asia Pacific Celebration of Artistes with Disabilities
1. MULTIMEDIA INDOOR CONCERT
Held over three nights at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, this is a first-of-its-kind concert featuring singers, and dancers from the Asia Pacific, together with guest performers from Canada, the UK, and US, and Chile.
The concert will “celebrate exceptional talent in a way that has never been done before” — Festival Director Audrey Perera
Look out for performers like Canadian violinist Adrain Anantawan, crooner Tony Dee from Australia (who was the star of the 2016 Rio Olympics trailer We’re The Superhumans), Drake Music Scotland’s Digital Orchestra, Alienette Coldfire from the Philippines (who was second runner-up in France’s Got Talent 2016), and multinational dance crew ILL-Abilities.
There’ll also be specially commissioned works – one by contemporary inclusive dance troupe DAZZLE (Japan, see above), one by wheelchair dancer Rodney Bell (New Zealand), and a collaborative performance by Very Special Theatrics (Singapore) and No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability (Australia).

2. TRUE COLOURS FESTIVAL VILLAGE
There’s free entry to the festival so bring the kids down for interactive experiences through which they can learn about various kinds of disability. The Village will also have screenings of short films about disability, theatre performances, Paralympics Sports tryouts, an exhibition, sale of art, merchandise, food, and drink.

3. ARTS AND DISABILITY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2018
Local and international guest speakers, as well as arts groups, will discuss innovative ways to increase accessibility to the arts. The 400-strong conference participants include overseas and Singaporean social service professionals, disabled ad able-bodied artists, and policy makers.
