Once Upon a Deepavali – Our Shared Stories
Thu Oct 29 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Usher in the Festival of Lights at the Indian Heritage Centre (IHC). There will be an array of online and on-site activities to get you into the festive spirit with Once Upon a Deepavali – Our Shared Stories.
Deepavali is known as the ‘Festival of Lights’ because it celebrates the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness, and it is celebrated by Hindus all over the world. This year’s digital offerings explore the unique ways that Deepavali is observed in Singapore by tapping on the collective memory of our communities, highlighting their stories, and engaging in conversations on what Deepavali and its customs and traditions mean to them.
On-site activities take place at the heart of Deepavali festivities in Singapore: Little India. Hop on a Trishaw Trail and revel in the sights and sounds as the precinct gears up to Deepavali! Head down to IHC on Campbell Lane to collect limited edition EZ-link cards, and money packets featuring the peacock design from this year’s Deepavali street light-up.
