Learn to love and protect our oceans at S.E.A. Aquarium’s Ocean Fest and Junior Ocean Protector Camp

27 May, 2022 16 Aug, 2022

This summer, learn about the colourful oceans, marine biodiversity and how to protect them at S.E.A. Aquarium’s (S.E.A. 海洋馆) Ocean Fest from 27 May to 16 August 2022. In celebration of World Oceans Day on 8 June 2022, S.E.A. Aquarium welcomes guests of all ages to join the eco-festival to learn how to protect the seas before they become A Colourless Ocean.

Look forward to an exciting line-up of programmes, including interactive art installations, engaging workshops and a beach clean-up to discover how everyone can do their part to protect the world’s vibrant and beautiful oceans.

From 28 May to 26 June 2022, young ocean enthusiasts can also sign up for the Junior Ocean Protector Camp to learn about marine biodiversity through fun and enriching activities during their mid-year school holidays.

A Colourless Ocean (27 May – 16 August 2022)

This World Oceans Day, S.E.A. Aquarium abounds with activities that promote sustainable living which helps keep the oceans healthy. Discover the importance and wonders of the vibrant seas with A Colourless Ocean at S.E.A. Aquarium, and how everyone can help to protect the oceans and the marine life which inhabits the oceans.

With a roster of programmes, activities and a pledge wall, guests will be treated to an educational and inspiring journey that seeks to encourage love and protection for the oceans before they turn colourless due to the detrimental effects of climate change.

Immerse in an ethereal art installation titled OBNOVA at the Shipwreck Gallery. Created by local award-winning multi-disciplinary artist, Rizman Putra, OBNOVA gives guests a glimpse of how an ideal future would look like with a restored and flourishing oceanscape.

Interact with marine debris and learn about the impact of microplastics at the Ayer Ayer Shore Table, an interactive table sculpture presented in partnership with social enterprise, The Ayer Ayer Project.

From 28 May till 14 June, the Ayer Ayer Shore Table confronts audiences with the extent of marine debris in our oceans, aiming to inspire guests to take action and participate in beach clean-ups. Representing the coastlines of Singapore and Malaysia, the Ayer Ayer Shore Table is embedded with microplastics collected from both countries’ shorelines. Guests can sift through the sandy Shore Table to collect the microplastics, akin to a coastal clean-up.

The microplastics collected from the Shore Table can be used to create colourful mosaic artworks that participants can bring home. Alternatively, guests may also pledge to reduce plastic consumption and refuse single-use plastics by contributing their mosaic artworks to the Pledge Wall at the end of their visit to Ocean Fest.

A special Ocean Fest Bundle Deal at S$48 per adult and S$38 per child is available during the June school holidays. It includes one S.E.A. Aquarium admission ticket, one S$5 meal voucher, and one S$5 retail voucher for adults or an educational worksheet for children. For more information on S.E.A. Aquarium’s Ocean Fest – A Colourless Ocean programme and admission tickets, please visit www.rwsentosa.com/promotions/attractions/ocean-fest.

Those who are keen to learn more about the infinite possibilities of upcycling can attend a hands-on Upcycling Workshop by social enterprise, Terra SG, from Fridays to Sundays from 28 May to 26 June. Participants will learn how to create pouches and lamps with everyday items such as paper and plastic cartons, and learn how upcycling helps to prevent pollution and keep the oceans clean.

The workshops will be held at S.E.A. Aquarium on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with five sessions a day. The Upcycling Workshop Bundle Deal (S$58 per adult and S$48 per child) includes one S.E.A. Aquarium admission ticket, an upcycling workshop session, one S$5 retail voucher, and an educational worksheet (for children only). Walk-in price for the workshop only is at S$25 per person.

To add to the meaningful and fulfilling experience for guests, S.E.A. Aquarium is also inviting the community to join its beach clean-up sessions on the mornings of 18 and 19 June at East Coast Park and Sembawang Beach respectively. Participation is free and capped at 50 slots per session. Volunteers will experience for themselves the real threat of marine debris in the waters of Singapore through the physical removal of human-created waste on the coastlines. Interested participants can register at www.rwsentosa.com/promotions/attractions/ocean-fest.

Junior Ocean Protector Camp (28 May – 26 June 2022)

Parents can nurture young ocean lovers through the S.E.A. Aquarium’s Junior Ocean Protector Camp – a fun and enriching day camp happening over the mid-year school holidays. In hopes of inspiring the future generation to become true-blue ocean protectors, children between the ages of 7 and 12 years are invited to learn about the oceans and marine biodiversity, how to protect marine animals, as well as the threats that they are facing.

Camp participants will have the opportunity to embark on a guided Ocean Protector Trail comprising various missions to help them learn about marine animals at the aquarium. There will also be educational encounters with selected marine animals as well as an upcycling activity to learn how to reduce waste. At the end of the session, participants will get to bring a souvenir home to remember the lessons learnt at camp.

Taking place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 28 May to 26 June, the Junior Ocean Protector Camp has two sessions a day – one in the morning (9.00am to 1.30pm) and an afternoon session (2.00pm to 6.30pm).

Participants will be split into groups based on their age and each group has a maximum capacity of 20 children. Parents can enrol one child (S$248 per child) and receive a complimentary dining voucher worth S$30, or enrol two or more children and receive a complimentary dining voucher worth S$80.
