Singapore’s only festival celebrating social enterprises, FestivalForGood returns on 19 August to showcase our nation’s vibrant social enterprises’ spirit, innovation, and passion to do good through their businesses. It aims to encourage families to discover the many different ways to contribute back to society, all while having fun at the same time. Here are some highlights:
Kids can try digital drawing and animating with The Junior Art Lab, or find cute crochet animals at the Teddy Thotz booth. Also keep a lookout for special up-cycling kits for kids − they’ll learn how they can recycle old clothes and stay green! Playmoolah promotes financial literacy in children through mobile game apps, while CreateCATT provides creative arts and play-based training for children to reach their full potential. Take part in immersive sensory adventures, such as “Just keep swimming!” with Achievers Swim School or learning through phonics with School of Concepts. Parents and kids can also create your own ceramic masterpieces with Center Pottery, while Playeum encourages creative play while developing cognitive skills.
There will also be plenty of delectable food to savour, courtesy of social enterprises such as My NoNNa’s, which sells Italian food at various schools islandwide, and trains and employs intellectually-disabled individuals. Grab treats baked by students with special needs at the Flourish Culinary booth, or confections from The Ugly Cake Shop whose proceeds go to school nutrition funds in Timor Leste.
