Facebook Live Fireside Chat: Parenting in the Digital Age
9 Feb, 2021 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm
The 9th of February marks the 18th edition of Safer Internet Day, where the global community comes together to make the internet a safer and better place for all – especially for children and young people. Parents are facing increasing challenges on managing the use of social media with their children, in a world where people are connecting online more than ever before.
In celebration of Safer Internet Day on 9 February, Facebook will be hosting a live fireside chat where expert guest speakers will share tips and advice on how parents can navigate social media and internet use with their children, to empower them to have the conversations they need to support the well-being of their children online. Viewers will also learn how parents and children can use Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp safely and responsibly.
Moderated by Sara-Ann Shuen Krishnamoorthy, the speakers of the live fireside chat include:
- Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of Health;
- Ms Anita Low-Lim, Senior Director, Touch Community Services and member of the Media Literacy Council;
- Ms Amber Hawkes, APAC Head of Safety Policy, Facebook
The session is part of the Facebook-led #saferinternetday2021 initiative to encourage the safe and positive use of social media, especially for parents and their children.
