Care Carnival

Connect with other caregivers of children and youth with special needs at the inaugural Care Carnival. A caregiver initiative led by parents, for parents, the inaugural Care Carnival seeks to connect, enable and empower fellow caregivers of children and youth with special needs. Held at the Enabling Village, the one-day event will feature international expert, Professor Robin McWilliam, whose sharing on routine-based intervention will provide insights on how attendees can integrate therapy into everyday routines. There will also be booths where caregivers can discover inclusive activities that can be done together as a family such as sports, art & craft and culinary preparation, among others.

9.45AM Child Engagement in Everyday Routines’ – Caregivers’ Roles in Modern Early Intervention by Professor Robin McWilliam

  • Participants will hear about the four parenting activities that research has shown to be important for children’s development and functioning. Parents can also learn about how evidence-based realities can change the nature of early intervention services – from needs assessment to intervention with children and support of families to meaningful evaluation of the current caregiving landscape.
11.00AM Performance by Very Special Choir
11.30AM Buffet lunch
12.30PM Tour of Enabling Village (by registration)
9.30AM – 2.30PM Interest-based activity booth exhibition in the areas of Performance Art, Sports & Outdoor, Art & Craft, Culinary, Science & Technology, and Horticulture & Agriculture
