Easy Christmas Crafts to do with your Kids
Oh the weather outside may be frightfully wet these days but there’s lots of fun to be had indoors as well! So put on that Christmas CD, gather the kids, and get those little fingers busy. These below were done in less than an afternoon, by children aged four and seven.

HOMEMADE SNOW GLOBES
What you’ll need:
- Glass bottles, like baby food jars and pasta sauce jars
- Small figurines
- Glycerin
- Glitter
- Ribbons
- Craft glue
How to do it:
Wash and dry jars and lids thoroughly. Let your child choose a figurine. Glue the selected figurine onto the inside of the lid. Let it dry. Fill jar with water, then add a few drops of glycerin. This emollient makes the water denser, so that the glitter ‘snow’ falls more slowly. Let your child add in the glitter. Carefully replace the lid of the jar. Glue a festive ribbon around it. Give it to your child, tell her to shake it up baby (while holding it with two hands of course), and let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
BUTTON TREE X’MAS CARD
What you’ll need:
- Coloured construction paper
- Buttons
- Mini pom poms or other small embellishment, like beads or sequins
- Craft glue
How to do it:
Have your child choose the colour of the paper that he wants to make the card from. Let him choose the buttons and embellishments to use. If he can do it himself, let him form a triangle with the buttons, pasting the buttons down in place. Top the tree with a star-shaped button. Use the mini pom poms or other suitable props to ‘decorate’ the tree. Cut out a rectangle for the tree base. Have your child write a message in or outside the card, and send it to his grandparents. They’ll love it – guaranteed – no matter how it looks.
