Best Party Venues (that You never thought of) to Celebrate Baby’s Full Month

For most Chinese in Singapore, it is tradition to commemorate a baby’s Full Month (also known as Full Moon or 满月 “Man Yue”). This happy milestone is celebrated when the newborn is one month old, and marks the beginning of the child’s life in the community. New parents are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a venue to celebrate their baby’s Full Month. And we don’t just mean booking that Community Club classroom.

But as you are recovering during confinement and learning to care for your newborn, planning a party is probably  last thing on your mind.  So here’s a tip from mums who’ve been there and done that: If you are planning to hold a baby’s full month party, plan before – and not after – you pop.

Shortlist suitable party venues, and suss out party essentials like buffet catering or add-ons like balloon sculpting. Fire off those emails to touch base first, and seal the deals when you’re ready. If pregnancy brain is meddling with your ability to think of a venue, why not try one of our favourites below?

Best for large rowdy parties
5 Little Monkeys Café

If you want to invite both sides of your families, as well as your friends, colleagues, neighbours, and more, look no further than 5 Little Monkeys Café. This popular 4,200 square feet café in Kallang has enough room for 100 guests (seated) or 200 guests (standing).

A basic venue rental package includes audio-visual equipment like projector and portable speakers. What is amazing about the space is how the young ones can play both in the café and outdoors – there is a dedicated Kids Corner with foam playmat and toys, as well as a pond for water play. You can even add-on a single-tier balloon arch and 50 helium balloons to decorate the area.

Food-wise, you can choose from between a Western or Asian buffet, or bring in an external caterer you prefer. Drinks are often neglected at such parties, so we’re surprised to see an option for in-house barista coffee, tea, chocolate and soda – sure to be a hit with the guests. Other frills to make a memorable party include themed dessert tables (with Baby Shark theme!), rental of bouncy castle, popcorn & candy floss machine as well as animal walking balloons. Let’s just say you can get everything under one roof, saving you precious time that can then be allocated to sleep.
