Our birth rate may not be growing but services for mums and children are booming. If you are currently expecting a baby, you can enjoy facilities and services – such as hypnobirthing classes or even a cocktail reception after delivery – that were unavailable to pregnant couples as recently as five years ago. One hospital even offers what it terms “luxury maternity care” which ensures that the new mum has a dedicated midwife and private nurse during her stay. As a HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator, I’ll definitely suggest this blog to many pregnant moms. Thanks for the collating this information
Hi, just like to check, all the price are based on 1 warded assumption? But i saw on the MOH website the price are different. Why is that so?
Thanks
Hi Ferlyn, these are supplied by the hospitals themselves. The ones on the MOH website are according to the 50th percentile bill size. Hence the difference. You can also look at the hospital websites, or email or call them to check closer to your delivery date, as prices do vary and fluctuate.
So these prices are based on the single warded?
Hi Ferlyn, yes. However, closer to your delivery date or when you are deciding which hospital to give birth in, check again with the hospital websites, or email or call them to check closer to your delivery date, as prices do vary and fluctuate.
Which doctor is the most popular about natural givebirth ?
Thanks for the informative & concise information. Is it advisable to pre-book a room in advance?
I would like to know what’s the possibility to transfer to different hospital?
My first pregnancy in 2005 was in kkh now I’m in my second pregnancy n was suggested to kkh but I wish to go to parkway east hospital or mount Elizabeth this time round my first check up is at kkh. Is it possible to change hospital now?
Hi Sugar, switching hospitals is not a problem. However, you may want to check if your obgyn does deliveries at the hospital of your choice.
hi there, June Wan
thank you . i will note that and check.
my first choice is parkway east hospital and it’s obviously stated here that it does so i will call them to check with them on the procedure. thank you.
Looking at this post i would really suggest pregnant women’s to get admitted in such hospitals, the services and care taken here is really nice, i hope in future all hospitals have such kind of rooms.
hi, June wan..
i have check all various hospital and they have separate packages for maternity and Antenatal Package (Outpatient)
so do you think for any hospital are we able to just go to different hospital for delivery and antenatal?
[…] article gives an idea of the costs of delivering at various hospitals. In general, the delivery packages […]
Hi June Wan,
When is the best time to start looking for a hospital? And the follow ups for antenatal packages can be done at polyclinics rite? or do we have to go through the hospitals throughout?
Thanks.
Personally i had very good experience with glenE. I miss their confinement food. The mid wifes are very well train. The room is comfy. I notice that in the article some price have *.. Y is it so?
Hi.. I’m currently in Dubai and will be giving birth in Spore and thinking of water birth. So far I think I have opted for Raffles as they seem to have good information about this matter. Any suggestion for transfer patient like me? I will be in Spore on my 7th month next year. thank you
Hi there ladies! Im a first-timer here and would like to know know. From what i understand and read your comments, these packages are for deliver part. What about for monthly check ups after knowing we are pregnant? Should i walk in to my preffered hospital or normal neighbourhood clinic will do? Hope someone can help? Thanks! :)
You can see a polyclinic doctor up to your 20th week, which is when you’ll be referred to a govt hospital for the ultrasound. You’ll save a lot that way. This is what I did. My pregnancy so far has been smooth sailing and I’ve only seen the polyclinic doc twice and a gynae 4 times. Right now I’m in my 36th week.
Can anyone recommend a gyno? I am currently 29 weeks. I have just moved to Singapore and would ideally like a natural birth using hypnobirthing method.
Is it true? Private are cheaper than KKH?
Is it possible to take antenatal package at a govt hospital then switch to private when deliver? Do we need to have our own specialised gynae?
[…] Why did you chose this maternity hospital? […]
I love Thomson, my baby was jaundice and they were so nice to push baby to me 3 times a day. By the second day, Scottish nurse push the baby to me and help me with breastfeeding; pump me, massage my engorge, get hubby to be pro-active and we love the experience of family-care. Love those personal attention.
Must try: Mee Soto, strong ginger-chicken soup to die for! Yummy.
SGH is actually good. Cheaper too, mannerism a little lacking from the Chinese-nurse.
NUH is very good too, attentive staff…optional request of Cafe Latte @ S$5.00.
All hospitals are agreeable to upgrading of room especially O&G section, mommies comfort is no.1.
As long as beds are available.
I try calling KKH telephone 6394 3739 to book a tour but I was told that is the wrong number , they are KKH labour ward. The correct number to call is 6294 4050
We’ve updated the number in the article, thank you!
Hi June Wan, I’m so sorry, 6294 4050 is not the correct number too. I’m been calling the whole morning and transfer all over the place to no avail
6394 3739 -> say they are labour ward, wrong number, ask me to call 6294 4050
6294 4050 -> say they are central apt hotline, wrong number, ask me to call 6394 1268
6394 1268 -> no one pick up the call
6225 5554-> tried call KKH main enquiry line, ask me to call 6394 5038
6394 5038 -> no one pick me call.
so I have no idea which number is the correct one…
Hi Jellyfish, I was told to call 6394 5038 — the Patient Education Centre — as well. In the meantime, you can also go on a virtual tour of the maternity ward via this link. Congrats on your pregnancy!
Choose any but NUH. We were so excited to deliver our baby at NUH but the staff’s response and services have grown from bad to worse since the day we signed up for the delivery package. Doctors are no doubt good, the management is very inefficient and tardy.
– Doesn’t matter if you arrive for doctors appointment on time – the waiting time is nearly 1 hour.
– The assistant will take another 30-45 mins to update your appointment card (thats the height really!)
– The scanning machines are way old!! Nothing is visible on the screens…and the attitude of radiologists is just intolerable. Of course its their job and they do it all day long, they could be emotionally supportive to our excitement. Both our scans (minor and major) were literally screwed up – the radiologist didnt even give us a single picture. No 3D scan facilities – we asked and the only rude response we got is that it has to be specially arranged and its only between 28 – 30 weeks (C’mon this is 2015).
Other hospitals not only give you clear scan CDs . They should at least allow pic or videos if they cant provide pic or CD.
– Major disappointment, if there are any other complications or illness other than doctor’s scheduled appointments, they don’t entertain you. You have to go and seek emergency help at other clinics.
Finally we have decided to switch our hospital…not sure they will refund our package but we don’t care now. NUH has simply ruined our maternity experience.
[…] add know the Gynae checks during the Trimester, the total expenses can add up to easily 5 figures. (http://singaporemotherhood.com/articles/2011/05/maternity-with-privileges/) If you or your friends are planning to have a baby in the next 12-24 mths, let me know. I may be […]
Which hospital in SG is more cost effective and has a good service for twin delivery?
We wanted to go for MA’s maternity tour today, 08.07.15. There was 1 cancellation and we could make it there max 10mins late.
However, we spoke to one of their nurse, Ms A, who seem very insensitive to our needs.
As we plan to have a look at the hospital and the rooms to see if it suits us and our requirements before booking a gynae tagged to that hospital.
For 10mins late, we would advised against coming for the maternity tour, which we are alright with it, as to us, its the visual that counts most.
Secondly, we were again advised against coming for a tour so early with an EDD 7mths later, “as its likely we would have to come down again in 3-4mths time and take up another slot”
Really? whats up with MA??? guess biz is really too good that u can start turning away potential biz
We have visited other hospitals and MA is regretfully to say, the worst hospitality!
Counter staff Ms G tried damage control but the damage has already been done, thank you for saving me 1 trip down MA. You got my thumbs down even before i see your premises!

If you use the calculator, you realised if you go lower wards than B1, you actually pay more! My wife is currently with KK and I regretted as she was not able to get PR in time, so I would rather go private like TMC (single price for all nationalities) if only ICA can give us a definite answer and timeline! So at KK, may end up same price as private hospital and yet don't enjoy like a private patient, some more my stupid gynae no package, pay and pay each visit! TMC gynae's package 600+ (incl 13 visits, vitamins, routine checks) and our visit to KK each visit is $125++ (rate for foreigner), some more vitamins pay extra, now haven't deliver already pay close to 2K! What is this man! ish lidat lah…public hospital suppose to cater n benefit sinkies mah. can convert work visa to LTVP or not seems like LTVP+ is considered as resident U mean delivery in TMC, Mount E, etc. is same price for all nationalities?
