Joyous July: What’s In, Out, and About for Families in Singapore (+ Giveaway)

There’s always something fresh and fun to see, do, and eat on on our little red dot. From the newest playgrounds and pop-ups to world-class productions and family-friendly menus, there’s plenty to keep you and the kids engaged. Summer Fun at Universal Studios Singapore

Summertime, and the livin’ is thrilling when you’re at Universal Studios Singapore for this season’s Tropical Thrills. Watch the new musical spectacle — Sesame Street Goes Bollywood. Pose with themed photo stations at Mahalo Memories, and catch King Julien Cruisin’ the Street in the New York zone. Look out for your favourite characters to snap that money shot with: Illuminations’ Minions, the velociraptor from Jurassic World, DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls, Madagascar, and many more! 2 July to 9 August; more details here

I’mPOSSIBLE Celebrations 2021

Our national athletes are gearing up for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in September 2021, and you can show your support for them! Sign up for the buddy run (modelled after the guided run event in the Paralympic Games) with a #BFF, taking turns to blindfold yourselves during the run. And let the kids read and be inspired by the story of national archer Nur Syahidah Alim. The world number 1 in the in the Women’s Compound category for para archery shares her story of grit and perseverance in two I’mPOSSIBLE Storybooks, a Beginners Book for little ones aged 6 and below, and an Early Reader for children aged 7 to 12 years. Explore Singapore with Piqolo Kids

How about getting to know our little red dot better this July, in the run-up to National Day in August? Sign up this month for the virtual walk which takes place 2 – 22 August. Da Vinci The Exhibition: Be Inspired to Innovate

You know that Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa, and The Last Supper. But did you know that this Renaissance man also conceptualised and crafted the first dive suit, skis, paddle boats, and parachutes as well? Step into the 15th-century and explore more than 50 life-size replicas of da Vinci’s inventions, 15 reproductions of his art, and displays showcasing his achievements. While you’re at the Science Centre, don’t miss the revoltingly riveting and hilarious That’s Gross Science Show. A little girl walks alone. The relationship between a millennial mother and her Gen Z disintegrates. A doula is trapped in a cycle she can’t break. What does it mean to mother, or to be a daughter? Watch these stories and more unfold in (un)becoming, which explores the dynamics of mother-daughter relationships in Singapore today through an online experience combining live performance, short films, and digital snooping. This is part of T:>Works’ Festival Of Women: N.O.W. 2021, a festival of women, by women, and a digital celebration of everything female.

Read for Books

If your children love to read, get them to indulge in this past-time while helping others during Read!Fest 2021. Read for Books is a charity book drive that aims to raise awareness and share the gift of reading with the less privileged, and it’s easy to be a part of it. For every 10 people who read for 15 minutes, one book will be donated to selected beneficiaries.
