March into a Fun-filled Family Moments Staycation at Park Hotel Clarke Quay (Review + Giveaway)

Chances are, your family has decided to stay in Singapore during the upcoming March school holidays instead of travelling overseas because of COVID-19. What will your kids be doing? Why not sign them up for one of these fun school holiday activities, go on a no-plane island getaway, or have a unique Singapore staycation? We got a sneak preview of the Family Moments staycation package at Park Hotel Clarke Quay over the weekend, and would absolutely recommend it.

Family Moments at Park Hotel Clarke Quay

The kids and I played local tourist at Park Hotel Clarke Quay over the weekend, and we found this unassuming property to be a surprisingly superb place in which to have a family staycation in Singapore, especially with its Family Moments package.

This offers two interconnecting rooms, with FREE accommodation for two children under 12 years of age. And to ensure that parents enjoy a completely stress-free stay, the hotel also provides amenities including baby toiletries, cots, bathtubs, and bottle sterilisers at no additional charge. It also includes:

  • Daily breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children
  • Complimentary upgrade for Weekend Stays subject to availability
  • 20% off Food and Beverage purchase at Porta and Cocobolo Poolside Bar + Grill
  • Complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi for multiple devices
  • Free Parking
  • Priority special request fulfilment
  • Complimentary lunch and dinner for two children below the age of 12 from kid’s menu (see above) when accompanied by paying adults at Porta

P/S: Book your Family Moments stay during the upcoming March holidays and your little ones get to enjoy complimentary kids’ activities as well!

EAT — Porta

Park Hotel Clarke Quay is not a big hotel. Hence there is only one main dining outlet on its premises — Porta. This cosy restaurant has the prettiest dining nooks, and is where you can have your buffet breakfast from 6am to 10am every morning. For lunch and dinner, Porta serves up adventurous interpretations of modern European bistro cuisine like Prawn & Chorizo Pasta and Spicy Salmon Tartare, as well as a melt-in-your-mouth Iberian Pork Secreto.

Porta recently debuted a Green Monday menu that is entirely plant-based, offering vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and nut-free options. We tried the Heura Mediterranean Pasta, a plate of garlicky heaven that was so good that my picky eater walloped almost the entire adult serving and had no idea that the ‘chicken’ was 100 per cent vegetable.

The Beyond Burger (my first!) was another winner. It was smoky, juicy, and bursting with flavour. The homemade ketchup added a piquant tang to every bite, and complemented the plant-based Daiya cheese perfectly. The bun was soft yet not soggy. Does it make sense that I kinda felt bad that it was healthy because it tasted so amazing?

STAY — Interconnecting Rooms

If your children are past co-sleeping age, interconnecting rooms like the ones in the Family Moments package are a god-send. While these rooms at Park Hotel Clarke Quay are not large, there is enough space to comfortably fit two adults and two children. With the interconnecting rooms, you also get two bathrooms. The one in the double bedded room comes with a tub, while the one in the room with twin beds has a shower.

Each room has three power outlets — one below the flatscreen TV, and two at the dressing/work table. That’s enough to charge your mobile, sterilise Baby’s bottle, and boil some water to make yourself a cuppa — all at the same time.

Want a little more luxury? Stay in a Crystal Club room, and join the Park Rewards programme to earn and redeem PARK$ at Park Hotel Group’s properties and restaurants. PARK$ can also be used at stores such as Robinsons, Zara, Best Denki and more.

Park Hotel Clarke Quay is a three to five minute walk from Fort Canning and Clarke Quay MRT stations respectively, making it easy to travel there by train. You are also a skip, hop, and jump away from the iconic Fort Canning steps!

For us, it is the hotel’s proximity to the Singapore River and THREE riverside enclaves — Clarke Quay, Roberson Quay, and Boat Quay — that make it a great staycation destination. There’s a line in a Planet SARK poster called How to Really Love a Child which recommends what to do with children: “if they’re crabby, put them in water”.

This is the absolute truth. Water has the power to soothe the beastliest child and sometimes, you don’t even have to get the kid wet. Just being by the water, watching it ebb and flow, listening to it as it hits the shore or the river steps, works too. #MumTested

Take time to sit by the river and and watch it move. Count the bum boats going past, wave at the tourists, and feel the breezes caress your skin. Make it a family mission to cross every bridge (there are 14!) along the river. Then reward yourselves with an al fresco meal at one of the kid-friendly cafes and restaurants along the quays.

Back at the hotel, pop the kids into the pool on the second floor. There is no kids’ pool, hence your little ones will be in the adult pool. This has a depth of 1.25m so keep both eyes on your darlings all the time. Even better, get in the water with them.

Enjoy Family Moments at Park Hotel Clarke Quay soon!

And as the sun sets over the water, and your stomach starts to rumble, walk over to the Cocobolo Poolside Bar + Grill for a savoury feast (Friday and Saturday nights) that’ll put everyone in the mood for an excellent night’s sleep on the hotel’s gloriously comfortable beds. Sweet dreams!
