LEGOLAND is a one-stop destination for family fun, with eye-catching décor, kid-friendly facilities, and a blocking-fun LEGO experience for everyone, just 20 minutes from Singapore!
Who hasn’t played with and loved LEGO as a child? And whose child isn’t a LEGO fan? These colourful blocks offer hours of endless fun and put no limit on creativity. Indeed, in a LEGO world, as The LEGO Movie tells us, everything is awesome! We got a taste of that LEGO awesome-ness in real life when we stayed at the LEGOLAND Hotel in Malaysia recently and we think it’s a must-stay if your little ones are brick lovers.
Getting There is Easy-Peasy
Firstly, it’s so darn easy to get to! I was surprised to find out that the hotel is situated just across the border. A mere 15-minute drive from immigration at the Tuas Causeway! There are clear road signs all the way, so you’ll have no problems reaching your destination if you drive down. Alternatively, you can take a coach via WTS Travel & Tours from the Singapore Flyer or Jurong East (see details below). As we approached the hotel, we saw huge LEGO figurines (including a dragon) at the entrance. It felt as if we were entering a magical castle – and in a sense, we were! (Find out why later).
LEGO, LEGO, Everywhere
Enter the hotel and you are greeted by the sight and sound of children laughing and playing in the lobby. It’s all right, this is encouraged. Kids will zoom right in on the castle and the pirate ship right next to the reception counters. Now get ready to be impressed. Like many of the figurines around the hotel, these are made entirely out of LEGO blocks!
But there’s something even more attractive to kids at the lobby — a ‘pool’ filled entirely with LEGO blocks! The LEGO pool in the main lobby contains regular-sized LEGO blocks (suitable for children above age 3), while another pool of soft bricks (suitable for children below age 3) is located at the right side of the lobby. Keep a lookout for the LEGOLand Hotel staff, who conduct a short song and dance session in the lobby at 3.45pm every afternoon!

Lift-dance with Minifigs
After checking in and receiving our room key, we make our way to the hotel’s main attraction: the themed rooms. On the way, we realise that every lift in LEGOLAND Hotel is special. Music plays (often a LEGO movie song) and disco lights light up throughout each trip!
Sleep with your Favourite LEGO Theme
Each room is designed to fit one of four featured themes: Pirate, Kingdom, Adventure, and NinjaGo. We’re in a Premium Kingdom-themed room, which looks like a castle from the LEGO movies. It has pictures of different LEGO characters on the walls, and the toiletries come in LEGO packaging. So cute! There’s also a “map” to unlock a safe which contains goodies for the kids.
The room, which is larger than expected, accommodates five people. The main part of the room has a king-sized bed, while an adjoining section (separated by a sliding door) has a bunk bed (with a trundle bed underneath) for the kids. The bathroom also has a special child-sized sink, and kids amenities for your little ones!
Book The Right Room
We hear that the NinjaGo-themed room is the most popular, so be sure to make your reservations early, as there are only eight such rooms in the hotel and they’re often booked far in advance. Which room type to choose? Well, the Deluxe and Suite Rooms can accommodate up to eight people, so they’re ideal if you’re travelling with friends or extended family members. For a smaller group, the Standard and Premium Rooms, which accommodate up to five people, should suffice.
By the way, the Kingdom theme is the only theme with a suite room (for eight people). It has one king-sized bed, two bunk beds, two bathrooms (one with a bathtub), and even a living room where the kids can play.
The Breakfast Buffet
Feeling peckish? Our order of fish and chips arrived after approximately 20 minutes, with a generous portions that we thoroughly enjoyed. For a bigger meal, head to the main restaurant next to the lobby, where a mouth-watering buffet is served every 7am and 6.30pm.
We tried the buffet during breakfast and dinner, and the selection did not disappoint. The breakfast spread included an amazing variety of buns and breads, prata, and the usual Western fare. The dinner spread was equally large, with satay and noodle soup available on the patio, and both local and Western fare available indoors. After filling up your tummies, don’t forget to stop by the impressive food-related figurines made out of LEGO blocks for a perfect Instagram photo, too!
Playtime in LEGOLAND Hotel
The hotel has an outdoor pool area with separate pools for adults and children. The kids’ pool even has rubber lego bricks that they can play with! But really, with the LEGOLand Theme Park and Water Park right at your doorstep, who’d want to stay in the hotel pool for long?
If yo’ve been thinking of a short destination getaway with the kids, and don’t want to go too far, or handle the stress of plan rides with little ones, LEGOLAND Malaysia is an excellent option. Book your stay by 7 March 2018 to enjoy 10% off, plus get with free admission tickets to the Theme Park and Water Park, and one free buffet dinner. This promotion (Prosperity Package) is only for stays in the hotel from 25 Feb to 9 March, in the Premium Rooms.
