10 Most Family-Friendly Hotels in Tokyo

With so many child-friendly activities you can put down on your itinerary, it’s no wonder that Tokyo is a popular destination for families. We tell you where to check-in with the kids while you’re there.

When one plans a trip to Tokyo with the kids in tow, it’s Disneyland that undeniably takes top spot on the list of child-friendly attractions to visit. But you might be surprised to discover that Tokyo offers so much more for kids apart from the famed theme park. Believe us when we say that you’ll be needing more than just a single trip to the capital city of Japan in order to take in all the sights and sounds catered to families travelling with children.

For starters, if your little ones are animal lovers, you’ve got to visit Ueno Zoo. It’s the oldest zoo in Japan and is nestled within Ueno Park where you can find temples, shrines and the National Science Museum – little science geeks can get up close with dinosaur fossils here. The park is a hit with folks of all ages during the cherry blossom season. Fans of the animal kingdom should also consider dropping by Sumida Aquarium and Tokyo Sea Life Park.

Are your children Sanrio or Doraemon enthusiasts? If your answer is yes, you’ll be pleased to know that Tokyo is home to Sanrio Puroland and the Doraemon Museum which is officially known as Fujiko F Fujio Museum. Following Disneyland, Sanrio Puroland is the second most popular theme park in Tokyo. Your tots will find all their favourite Sanrio characters here – including Hello Kitty, of course.

2. Four Seasons Marunouchi

3. Mitsui Garden Hotel Shiodome

Here’s another great option for families who wish to see Tokyo on a budget. Khaosan World Asakusa Hostel is the biggest there is in Tokyo and is a walking distance from the famous Sensoji temple. If you think that the rooms here are going to be very cramped since it is a hostel, you couldn’t be more wrong. The rooms are ultra spacious – the Superior Japanese Rooms come with up to SIX beds! 10. Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro

If you’re a family of five searching for accommodation in Tokyo, look no further. The Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro offers Japanese style rooms that can fit up to five people. There are also Western style rooms and dormitory rooms that come with bunk beds. All private rooms are equipped with a flat-screen television, fridge and en suite bathroom.
