Holiday Weekends in Singapore: 24-25 Dec 2011

Welcome to our guide on fun-filled, kid-friendly weekend activities during the year-end holidays. Up this week: Party in the streets, frolic in a snowfall, go topless to view the festive lights, and ponder evolution.

An Orchard Christmas

Street party! Christmas revelry happens right smack in the middle of Orchard Road this week, beneath the festive lights. Enjoy the cooler weather and beautiful decorations as you stroll down the island’s most famous shopping stretch. There’ll be interactive booths along Wisma Atria, drama skits depicting the Christmas Story at Mandarin Gallery’s frontage, carolling by a Cappella groups and live music performances.
On Christmas Day itself, bring the camera and pose with the seven specially decorated floats parked between Scotts Road and Bidefort Road.
Till 25 Dec 2011, from 7-9pm (24 Dec), 5-11pm (25 Dec). See the Celebrate Christmas In Singapore website for more details.

Let It Snow

It’s the closest you can get to celebrating a white Christmas in Singapore so bring the family down to Tanglin Mall, where a magnificent ribbon-wrapped tree stands proud, surrounded by a picturesque reproduction of an English street scene. There’re life-sized reindeer and snowmen to pose with as well! (subject to weather conditions)
24 – 25 Dec, 7.30-7.45pm and 8.30-8.45pm (Avalanche), 7.45-8pm and 8.45-9pm (Snow), Tanglin Mall.

Christmas Open House at the Singapore Philatelic Museum

It’s free admission at the Philatelic Museum this Christmas so hop on in to feast your eyes on Bunny Wonderland and find out all about these cuddly mammals, meet a postsge-stamp-covered elephant, bone up on communication skills, and cosy up to The Adventures of Tin Tin.
25 Dec, 9am-7pm, Singapore Philatelic Museum, 23-B Coleman Street. Tel 6337 3888.
