April 2023 - Junior Ocean Detective at S.E.A. Aquarium

Dive into a world of colour at Resorts World Sentosa’s watery attractions this Spring. First, dip into a ‘Sea of Unseen Colours’ at the S.E.A. Aquarium and get in-depth insight into microscopic plankton. Discover the tiny life form through augmented reality and colourful illustrations by Singaporean artist Almostasthma. Well Commune: Shenton - Rolypoly Family

A month-long pop-up wellness sanctuary in the heart of Singapore, Well Commune: Shenton is a first-of-its-kind holistic playground. It features workshops, talks, and events that cover everything from physical and financial wellbeing to mental, emotional, and spiritual healing. For families, highlights include Paediatrics Tuina for gut health and immunity, Parent and Adult-Child Intergenerational Workshop, and Family Despacho Ceremony. Kids can join Rolypoly Family’s Dance Playgroup and Junior Contemporary Dance sessions too.

After 17 successful editions, the Esplanade takes the annual da:ns festival to the next stage. da:ns focus 2023 spans five weekends of dance programmes throughout the year, each focusing on a particular theme. The series kickstarts with ‘EveryBody’ — featuring free and ticketed programmes with inclusivity and diversity in mind. Catch performances by differently abled dancers, dance with migrant workers, and participate in EveryBody Workshops for preschoolers, children, youth, and adults. Because “everybody” and “every body” can and should experience dance.

Gripping rugby action kicks off in Singapore this April and fans are in for a thrilling time. Besides the main event, look forward to family activities and a sensorial feast. ION Orchard’s Spring Garden

“Spring Forward: Fashion’s Fresh Mood” takes over ION Orchard this season, complete with a six-metre-tall waterfall installation. Get ready to step into an enchanting world of music, lights, and colours. The whimsical garden pop-up, with a giant waterfall that cascades over two storeys, is the perfect backdrop for #OOTDs. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings (7pm – 9.30pm, with 15-minute intervals), it also transforms into a mesmerising sensorial spectacle of a lightshow. To top off the season’s highlights, a line-up of exciting deals and offers awaits shoppers at the mall.

April 2023 - Tulipmania: Its Wild Origins

Admire vibrantly coloured and uniquely shaped tulips in a landscape showcasing Turkiye’s most iconic landmarks and architecture. Tulipmania takes on a Turkish twist as the returning annual floral display retraces the rich history of the blooms. Back in the day, the Ottomans cultivated the tulip in their country, incorporating wild species growing on Turkish soil. While you’re there, design your own lighted glass dome using tulip-shaped acrylic cutouts or craft a pair of tulip earrings. These workshops take place on the last two weekends in April.

Toa Payoh Heritage Trail

Did you know that Toa Payoh was the pioneering ‘showpiece’ for Singapore’s public housing? Follow the National Heritage Board’s refreshed Toa Payoh Heritage Trail to discover the history of this prototype town. It features 10 heritage trail markers and 29 heritage sites, including two new ones. These are the ‘VIP Block’, which Queen Elizabeth II visited in 1972, and the iconic Toa Payoh Dragon Playground. Hear the lesser-known stories behind such landmarks as you explore three thematic routes. Make it a family outing on one of the upcoming long weekends!

A cultural crossover between Japanese ramen broth and Chinese la mian, WOKE Ramen delivers a breath of fresh air. Or rather, the ‘breath of the wok’ or wok hei. If deciding between the broths isn’t hard enough, you then have to choose from five different versions each. Our favourites are Chicken Katsu Collagen Ramen and Prawn Paste Ramen.
