Hihi,

Just tonshare some of my experience n personal view.

1. Baby bath tub - some hospital giv free. Else can buy fr WTS or WTE section or neighborhood shop. Simple 1 will do.
2. Shampoo - buy fr shopping or neighborhood shop
3. Baby powder - I din giv. Heard not gd for baby respiratory system
4. No need
5. Normal soft bath towel either fr shopping (sns or ntuc) or neighborhood shop. 2 is enuff.
6.I got my nursing bra fr both metro n og. Me looking for cheap 1. Can't remember cost. I mainly use washable nursing pad (save $$$). 3 pair is enuff (wear 1, wash 1 n standby 1). Occasionally use disposable 1. More comfortable but high cost.
7. I found tat cheapest baby detergent is outran ABD. 2litre @ ard $9.90 or $12.90 at kiddy palace.
8. Changing mat - some hospital bag hav
9. I use carlson. 3pkt x 80 sheets/pkt cost $5.50 at John little n carrefour. Quality not bad. At home I use cotton wool with water. Or wash with water. More cost effective.
10. Nail clipper - normal small 1 fr pasar malam will do
11.hospital package should include
12. No need
13. Common item fr most shop, kiddy palace, value shop, sns, ntuc, ...
14. Dun really need lah
15. Din use
16. Normal loose t shirt will do
17. Not a must

Prepare few baby clothing, milk bottle, food warmer to warm up breast milk if u decide bottle feed ebm rather than latch on, standby 1 small tin milk powder (just in case bm din kick in first few day after delivery), bottle brush, nursing cream, nappy cream, newborn disposable diaper, cloth diaper (nappy liner is use together with cloth diaper to keep your baby buttock dry), wash cloth, handkerchief, baby lotion, ru yi oil (to apply on baby tummy after bath to release wind in tummy). Maternity pad for yourself.

Anything short buy can just get your hubby or family or friend to help buy when needed. Dun need overstocked. Have a smooth delivery!

1. Baby Bathtub - Mt A gives 1 for free.. Better not to buy unless u buy a bigger sized one, they outgrow very fast..
2. Baby Shampoo & Shower - I buy Johnson & Johnson Head to toe.. For hair and body..
3. Baby Powder - Johnson & Johnson
4. Baby Powder's "container"
( The one w/ the fluffy thingy ) - If yours is a boy, no need.. Just squirt on the area.. If yours is a girl, then yes u will need it..
5. Bathing towel - I share my towels with both my kids since day 1.. No problem.. Different ppl, different preferences..
6. Nursing Pad/Bra
7. Baby clothes/accessories washing detergent
( Would like to know if I really need this. ) - I use ABD powder detergent for baby..
8. Changing Matt
( Needed or not? ) Yes, unless u're ok with changing your bedsheets/sofa covers when baby pees while changing.. =X
9. Baby's wipes - Pigeon but it's a tad expensive.. A lot of mummies recommend Kodomo, during promotion..
10. Baby's nail clipper - I use baby scissors..
11. Blanket/Receiving Blanket - Swaddle/wrap? I use traditional diaper clothes to swaddle babies.. It's thin and not warm.. Normal swaddles like very thick and warm leh..
12. Bottle Rack - I use so it's organized but it's not needed..
13. Cotton buds/sticks - no need.. Use roll up tissue instead.. smaller and softer..
14. Baby Hair Brush/comb
( needed or not? ) - Dun need to buy now.. Wait till hair grow out more then buy..
15. Anti-slip Matt
( needed or not? What's the purpose? ) - For bathtubs? If yes, then it's good to invest in one..
16. Nursing Wears
( Would I be able to wear my normal clothes after giving birth? )
17. Musical Mobiles

Do let me know if I've missed out any IMPORTANT stuffs I need to prepare for my NB.

Questions:
1.What are nappy liners? What is it used for? Do I need to prepare for my NB?

Nappy liners are inserts u place inside cloth diapers.. If u're gonna use disposable diaper, then u won't need this..

2. I've seen people selling Avent breadfeeding shells or something like that, what is it for?

No need to buy unless LC advise u to..

I get my essentials from here.. http://luvbabies.weebly.com/index.html and also from the WTB/WTS/BP threads on forum.. Saves me a lot of $$ & hassle..

Desiree,

You might hv given birth by now?

But anyways, will add for other readers interest.

Incomplete checklist:
1. Baby Bathtub - buy from neighbourhood stores that sell household items. Or u can use the red colour one that your mum bought during your wedding.

2. Baby Shower - Mustela, no need shampoo. Actually no need shower cream also. Just use water.
3. Baby Powder - Aromababy (from Robinsons).
4. Baby Powder's "container" - I got mine from Giant, not sure the brand, prob tollyjoy or something like tt. But better not to puff the powder. just put on your hand and apply gently.
5. Bathing towel - non hooded. I bought from Kiddy palace / Tom and Stephanie, 3 for $10 only.
6. Nursing Pad/Bra - Nursing pad I used Pigeon disposable. I got my bra from Marks and Spencers, expensive but wonderful.
7. Baby clothes/accessories washing detergent
You will need this. especially if you use cloth diaper. I used kodomo, has just changed to Pureen ABD, and now, Pigeon. All are good.
8. Changing Mat - Bought mine from Giant also, I think it's definitely necessary.
9. Baby's wipes - Carlson baby wipes from John Little. Cheap and good. As good as the more expensive brands. But I use cotton buds to clean the baby in the first few months, when at home.
10. Baby's nail clipper - Pigeon nail scissors
11. Blanket/Receiving Blanket - Hospital might give this.
12. Bottle Rack - I didnt use this. Bcos always put the bottles back into steriliser after washing. Hv one from Munchkin to let go.
13. Cotton buds/sticks - Bought Giant house brand.Sticks for drying the ears, buds for cleaning the baby's face. Also, u can use this to clean the backside instead of using wet wipes. I prefer using cotton buds. I buy a big roll from the shop and pull them out and roll into big / small balls and keep in a container when I'm free. Big ball for back side, small ball for face. Those that are already rolled are more expensive.
14. Baby Hair Brush/comb - No need.
15. Anti-slip Matt - Your preference. I didnt use this. But my MIL put it in the bathtub when bathing baby. Advisable to have if you can afford it, Just in case.
16. Nursing Wears - I wear my maternity pants (with adjustable waist line) for about 3 mths after giving birth.
17. Musical Mobiles - Good to have. My boy enjoys looking at this when I clean him on his cot.

Do let me know if I've missed out any IMPORTANT stuffs I need to prepare for my NB.

- Diaper cream - I use the brand "Desitin"
- Thermometer - Very important! Get a trustworthy one.
- Bean sprout husk pillow - Can buy the husks from wet market veggie seller and pluck the brown part out, and sun them and get someone to make the pillow case.

Questions:
1.What are nappy liners? What is it used for? Do I need to prepare for my NB?
- If you are using clothe nappies, then u need the nappy liner. This will "catch" the poo and prevent it from staining the cloth diaper directly. You will throw the liner away and it'll be easier to wash the cloth diaper.

2. I've seen people selling Avent breadfeeding shells or something like that, what is it for? - no idea.

3. For nursing pads, ( the one to put inside your bra after breastfeeding ) should I be using the washable ones or disposable ones? Any pros & cons? & how many would I need to use per day? - I use disposable ones, but I didnt hv much milk, so I can't advise on this.

bbmilo - i guess every baby use different diapers as some babies will be sensitive to some brands exp if they are newborn , therefore its better to try out and see which one is better for ur kid .. u could try out by taking samples before buying the big packet home .. or u can ask some fm ur mummies frens to try it out ..

essentials (if u really want to cut out on unnecessary expenses)
- diapers
- wet wipes
- tissues
- large towels (can also use to line mattress/pillows and as swaddle)
- feeding bottles/equipment
- gentle baby all-in-1 wash

i didn't use bath tub, just sat on short stool to bath with bb to get her to enjoy showering

I provide a one stop service to help first time mothers get essential things for a newborn. I have a list of my fav brands after research, trial and error on my 3 and 2 yrs old. They can be purchased from major supermarkets. Pls email me at [email protected] for more details.

I recomond you to use babywipes which is infused with lotion and soothing ingredients, This can avaoid rashes on your baby's delicate skin retaining the moisture and natural balance.
I use Tushies babywipes by Multibrands since 1 year for my baby, he didnt face any problem of neither rashes nor Dryness.

I'm using Carlson wipes.. i find it thin but it's cheap and good.. my bb has been using since birth..
