Pinky, feel so envious that you are symptom free. I am also quite clumsy in terms of always knocking things off then unable to pick them up.

The itch got to me today that I just went ahead to take antihistamines. At least I got some sleep and relief temporary.

Eating is no problem for me. In fact I eat round the clock including snacks like Milo and bread at 3am when I can't sleep. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

I notice my nails growing sharper at trimester 3. Wonder if it will be less sharp least I scratch the babies next time. Anyone have this symptom?

Carla,

I'm like you. Feel very hungry but cannot finish everything cause of lack of space. I can be craving for something and send DH out to buy but when he returns with it I don't feel like eating it anymore. Hope the new maid doesn't give you problems.

Kiki,

good excuse to get a pedicure done. :p

Carla_m, i'm seeing Dr Joycelyn Wong from TMC.

Wow Pinky, it's really good that you haven't gotten much of the uncomfy symptoms yet!!

I love spicy food but my heartburn is so bad that I even stopped eating chilli sauce. Haha... and I feel really heavy and legs get tired very fast... the water retention is starting too! But I'm thankful that I haven't needed to start on any medication yet.. Yes, I also feel like i'm hungry but the thing is, I go on to finish everything and I feel like my stomach is going to explode. HAHAHA... consequences of greediness!!!

Pinky,

U better take care.

All,

Looks like we r all taking turns to pop.

The order shall be

Hopefully our bbs will stay inside as long as possible.

I dun have much space for eating and got heartburn [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif] din take chilli stuff for abt 2 mths already, but thankfully i can still sleep side way and dun have swelling feet too. Not sure does this really help, i use clarine oil for my tummy since the start of my 2nd tri and i dun have itch at all. But guess since is our last lap no point getting it ya.

I'm into 3rd week of my flu, decided to try TCM and it seem to help me get better. Anyone is not having CL like me? Am thinking maybe can con't with the TCM and "pu" a bit during my confinement. This is those powder kind so easier to eat w/o the need to brew.

doblue,

thanks. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Things are getting better now. DD is on the road to recovery & my ankle is healing.

I can definitely feel the weight of the babies. 30th week check-up on Monday, excited to see babies grow another couple of 100gms & hopefully they're both in head-down positions.

Pinky

Glad to hear that ur DD is getting better. No easy to care for a young one and be pregnant with twins at the same time. Jia you . Keep us posted with the babies weight [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

nann,

thank you. yeah not easy cause i'm getting big & bulky and have to avoid carrying her (she's about 11kg). can only do so much but thankfully i have a wonderful hubby!

will update everyone on how my checkup went. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Pinky,

Wow, then is really not easy for u consider their close gap. Thankfully ur girl is easy to manage and hubby of great help.

Juz send my old helper back. My dd1 cried. Sometime my stuggle abt getting helper is also this emotional part. They stay so close with u and they are gone after a few years, the worse is the kids who have kind of some bond with them. My friend have a hard time adjust her dd after her helper left also. Her dd even said that she wanna follow the helper back!!!! I guess i will really be heart broken if my dd tells me that.

Hi mummies, anyone did C-sec at KKH for twins and stay in a 1 bedder? Can I just find out the estimated costs?

My boys are doing really well! THank God... at W31, they're abt 1.6kg each and doc said things are going well... really glad to hear that. =)

spiffy

u deliver at 30weeks is it due to low placenta?

im also expecting twins.. 20 weeks now... one of my twin has low placenta.. its call total previa.. meaning the placenta is covering the cervix opening.. i cant go for natural delivery....

after hearing yr story about bleeding everyday and delivering at 30weeks...im worried... at which week did u had yr first bleeding?

sorry for the many qns... thanks in advance!

Hi all,

Just came back from checkup today. Babies are about 2.6 kg but estimated only cos it seems difficult to measure them at this stage. Was given another steroid injection and am hoping they will stay put till Thursday, which will be exactly 38 weeks. Now the c sec fear is creeping up to me.

L

Ur boys' wt is very good at week 31 [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] Some singleton also this weight. Jia you...

baby

You're spot on, girl. I had placenta previa, with the placenta covering the os. i started bleeding from week 29. Heard some mtb bleed from much earlier on. Did your obstetrician explain the risks to you?

baby, are you working? if you aren't, take the opportunity to rest more. And there's always a chance the placenta moves away from the os as your uterus expands cos you're only in your 20th week.

Feel free to send me a pte msg if you have any other questions or concerns k?

L,

Congrats and take care ya. Good to know that the boys is doing well. Does it mean that they dun need to be in NICU?

Baby,

I have the same condition for my dd 1. My bleeding started as early as week 13 but by wk 30-32( sorry cannot really remember) it actually move up.

Kikichan,

Wow, your bbs is ready. All the best to u.

L: i stayed in A ward for a total of 5days. operated on tues and discharged on sat. that's an additional day on top of the package. total was slightly over 5K but after the antenatal claim, figure was 4+K. then there was the medisave claim.. so all in all, i paid a few hundred bucks more than the c-section package. can't give you a breakdown though cos its all quite confusing [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

Hi Azureoct, thanks for sharing the costs. Yeah, we're now considering delivering in KKH instead cos of the potential savings...

Doblue, i think it's too early to determine that they don't have to be in NICU yet, but just thankful that they're gaining weight well!

Kikichan, what an accomplishment carrying them to Week 38. Congrats!! =) You've done really well... all the best!

Yep. The target for twins is 37 weeks and any further is a bonus. Of cos most important is they are healthy and growing well. Hope that all of us can reach the target and 'graduate' [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Are any of you mummies to be real soon taking coconut water? Heard it's good but not too sure of it's actual benefits.

Kikichan,

I took coconut water around 2-3 weeks before I delivered DD #1. Hear from people say that the coconut will help to body to cleanse the womb better after delivery. For me I took chicken + coconut soup (yes soup!) This time think I only dare to take 1-2 weeks before delivery as it's also believed that taking it too early will cause pre-term delivery. But for you it's a good time to do so. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

L: not sure if there's really savings cos this whole twin pregnancy thingy is just expensive :p

but, if your delivery and those of the twins is uneventful, i think the costing should be fine. i think the best advantage which KKH has over the other hospitals is that should any after-birth interventions be needed, you know you're in good hands cos they are the specialist here. not to worry cos i think your babies will be fine. so far sounds so good [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

right from the start, i wanted to be at KKH. cos i've heard of cases where KKH had to turn away babies who need intervention cos their NICU is full. my gynae friend also says that for higher risk delivery, they have 2 (think thats what he said) neonatologists on standby at the point of delivery to make sure that all is well. and if anything goes wrong, a whole lot of medical staff will rush in to perform the necessary.. sometimes it can be up to 20 pple at one go. oh! seems like only KK has neonatologists on night duty also.. this one i'm not totally sure ah..

their A ward is not too bad lah.. not luxurious but you get the privacy that's much needed. esp when all your friends and relatives will want to visit you and rejoice with you on the birth of your twins. on the 1st night, my ward was packed with pple. if it was in any other ward, wld have disturb other patients. guess it wld be easier for the staff to close one eye if the noises are just kept within the room and not disturb others.

enjoy your countdown! rest well and take more proteins to beef them up.. more is definitely better!

hi everyone, it had been so fas n come to my second sunday after deliver. So far everything turn out smoothly n i already started to look after my gals most the time except giv them bath (cox cant touch water) n midnight feeding. I just need to ask mil wake up then make milk for them.

Glad to know all mummies who still waiting now on good condition. Hang in there gals, it final lapsed. All the breaking pelvis bone pain, swollen feet, heart hurt, low appetite will subsidised once deliver. I remember in the ot, my first relief is when gynae pull out my twins, feel like whale belly really lighten suddenly after the 10 mths heaviness. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

our next plan is moving back bb n me to malaysia's mil house to rest for another 2 mths to 'bu' back my health since we just manage to do a rough confinement here without cl. Now everyday busy running for imigresion matters.

keep us up to date ya for whoever pop next!! Add oil!!

Spiffy / do blue

Dr told me for total pre via where the whole planceta covers the cervix.. Its unlikely it will move up unless it's partial pre via...

I'm not working... But still worried about delivering early... Dr did say if I would to deliver early he will refer me to kWh as pte cost is too high.. I'm with glen e...

Spifty, u are with kWh right? Dr loh?

Is there any ways to prevent me from delivering too early due to pre via?

baby,

if u're not working, then it's a good start as long as you take lots of rest, eat well & keep urself well-hydrated. Dr Luke's book advocates that high magnesium & calcium intake is associated with preventing pre-term labor.

ur doctor may also perform a u/s to check the length of ur cervix & I am quite sure he will advice bedrest when necessary.

don't worry about what has not happened yet, and do what u can to prevent PTL from happening. enjoy the pregnancy [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

baby

My obstetrician at KKH was Irene Chua. Super nice lady, very caring. Came to check on my condition every day.

I don't know if you can truly prevent early delivery if you bleed a lot like me - literally gushing - because the bleeding brings on contractions which in turn brings on more bleeding. I was given some safe drugs to prevent the onset of contractions, like Adalat (nifedipine) and Duphaston (dydrogestrone). As a last resort, i was put on a Salbutamol drip in hospital.

Your doctor may also have advised about the risks that placenta previa carry during actual c-section delivery - such cases tend to bleed much more than normal c-sections.

I was given a few pints of blood during delivery. Mainly because the anti-contractions medication i was previously given interfered with the body's natural ability to contract the uterus. If the uterus doesn't contract, the blood will continue to flow freely.

Another thing was that my placenta was on the back wall, which was fortunate because if it was on the front wall, it'd make the c-section incision a lot more complicated.

Once i was admitted to hospital, the week before, everyday some doctor or other would pre-empt me that i might have to go into emergency c-sect. It was very unnerving but i was hoping for the best. They also gave me the 2 doses of steroids to mature the bbs' lungs.

All of the above is my own experience. It may not happen to you, touch wood.

What you can do now if you haven't already done so is to get all the necessary baby items. You shouldn't be moving too much in the later months anyway. Eat well, put on good weight too. Just be as prepared as possible.

Spifty

Thanks so much for the info and advise...

I also did read abt losing more blood during and after delivery due to previa.. Sounds so scary...

But i did read one lady with total previa manage to deliver at 37 weeks without complications.. She didnt even bed rest and work till the delivery and even do housewk chores.. Really hope i will be as lucky as her.. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Right now.. Im trying to get all the bb items ready.. Cos i know later stage my tummy gets bigger will be harder to move around..

Now only hvt buy cots and bb clothes.. And small essential tins..

Will try to get the bb room ready soon...

May i know how long yr bbs stay in hosp after they are born?

Did u bf them?

baby,

I personally think it's better to play safe by getting as much rest as possible and try not to exert your body. If some1 like hubby can help with household chores in the later months let him do it. Don't risk it. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

It's a good idea to start getting BB items, cause as what Spiffy said it's better to stay rested in the later months. I think it also helps that you have everything ready then you will feel more "settled" in the last few months. Now in my 31st week I don't feel like walking much, even though I want to go out hahaha.

All,

my 30th week appointment went well. Both babies growing well at 1.4kg each. Unfortunately Baby A is still in breech position & my gynae says he is most likely going to stay this way for the rest of the pregnancy, thus a C-section is very very likely. I am still holding on to some hope that he'll turn in week 32 though.

If I got a C-section it'll be around 8 Oct - 15 Oct, and 10 Oct a lot of people are expected to deliver. So we will see how it goes!

Got my steroid jabs today. Ouch.

baby

They stayed in KKH for 5 weeks..(!!) Now if you looked at them they don't look like they were once premies at all. When i look at their skinny newborn pics, i can almost cry. And yes, i did bf them...well i expressed mostly cos in the first 5 weeks i had to provide KKH with bottles of bm for their feeds round the clock. It was also easier to track how much they were drinking.

pinky,

good that your bbs are growing well. So the Dr thinks around week 36 is the week to take them out? I'm surprised they gave you the steroid jabs this early.

Do Baby A & B have names yet?

Spiffy,

baby names undecided! The steroid jabs are like "just in case" so me being me, I rather play safe i guess lol. We'll take them out around week 37-38, although if situation allows I'd rather take them out slightly later than 37 weeks to allow more time to 'cook'.

Cervix is still quite long and high up. No braxton hicks or contractions either so I believe I have a good chance of making it to the targeted week. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Pinky,

Stay positive and I'm sure babies will cooperate and stay put till week 37-38. It seems that they will suddenly grow much faster nearer the due date cos I can't hardly stand or walk around long. My tummy feels damn tight especially if babies are moving.

Also taking the fresh coconut water cos it tastes really good and refreshing. 3 more days [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi all..

I'm new here.. Now 25th weeks with identical boys.. Wondering if anyone knows if delivery naturally possible cause my gynea really pushing me for c-Sect and i'm so against it.. And also she stopped me from working as well due to high risk preggy.. i'm all well with no symptoms of tiredness or swelling... anyone facing same problems as me?

Anyway i have a BN Twin Esprit stroller for sale as i recieved one... ANyone intrested inform me pls....

Baby,

Actually my case is on single birth which may not be the same for the case of twins. Do try to rest more, as that was wat i'm told to do also.

Kikichan,

Enjoy the refreshing taste of coconut water, but i was advise not to eat too much of the flesh as it is heaty. Anyway, i drank coconut water b4 the end of my 2 tri. For my case, my body is more to the heaty side so heaty that i even have nose bleeding during my confinement so i can take cooling stuff well that y i start early.

All the best to u and keep us posted ya.

Pinky,

Did u check if u deliver on 10 oct will there be extra charge? DD 2 was deliver on 12 oct, i remember it was so full at Mt A that i was in children ward for 1 night, which is a diff level with dd. I was told that many have c-sect on 10 oct so can only discharge on 13 oct. That maybe your consideration, i can feel that the nurse were so busy and is hard to get their attention even when i need help.

My hubby suggest 20 oct but i'm not keen cos i feel that if it is a popular date it may means less attention.

Am actually thinking if is a good idea to make it the same date as dd2 but am wondering izit really a good idea as 2nd child always feel out of place, will that add on to it if they share BD together.........

Someone juz told me that TMC is short of nurses. Have u heard of that? Any mummies deliver in TMC felt that?

Ettralyn,

If u scroll back the thread and read u will find useful infor abt why most indentical twins r deliver via c-sect. Is more for the safety of the bbs.

doblue,

yah my gynae will have surcharge which I don't think is worth the money ($500-$1000 extra). Also too many people giving birth I also afraid not enough nurses. Besides, I want to use the time in hospital to rest & there are bound to be a lot of visitors in the hospital so I want to avoid being in that situation. I would love to give birth on 20 oct cause it's also my bday but again will have surcharge and i'll be in my 39 week already so don't think got chance.

If I go for C-section I will try to have it on 38th week instead, after 10th as the extra time in the womb might do some good for the babies.

I never felt that TMC is short of nurses cause when I stayed there I felt like I was given adequate attention and good service.

I din know that special dates will charge extra for delivery. And I think different birthdays are better in a family. That way it is more special.

Baby,

when I was pregnant with twins, I was advised to register with kkh as a subsidized patient. Hence I was concurrently seeing my own private gynae and just follow up on the kkh appts for u/s scannings since there is no appointed doctors for subsidized patients. This is just in case of pre term delivery, which will help you save costs as subsidized patient compared to private hospital. Hence once you are able to make it till at least 35-37 weeks, you can drop the kkh appts.

I think I went to kkh appts about 3 times as their appt dates are like once a month.

Hope this info helps. Do all the stuff you need to do now then get plenty of rest [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

kikichan

I see.. Need to register with kkh... I shall check with my own pte gynea on this..

But if we did not have an appointed dr in kkh.. In case really need to deliver there.. Then who will peform the c sect for us?

Junior dr? Or whoever on duty?

Baby,

oh I forgot to add that to be a subsidized patient, you need to get a referral letter from the polyclinics first then they will give an appt date at kkh.

Well this is like an insurance plan in case if really early pre term delivery. So there won't be any fixed doctor but at least you can rest assured that your bills won't go skyrocket.

Hi Everyone,

My two boys couldn't wait... Had a premature membrane burst 5am Monday. Spent the day in the hospital being monitored,by 6pm, the contractions had not stopped- even though I was on a Ventolin drip also, so my Gynae though it best to take them out before they became distressed.

In Gleneagles at the moment. The babies are in the NICU, they weighed in at 1.37 & 1.42 kg, but they are both alert and opened their eyes, so far so good!

I had a c-sect but surprisingly it is not that painful, have been walking around the room since lunchtime, just to get the blood in my legs flowing. I am very tired though.

So.. just thought I'd keep you all updated!

carla,

congrats on the arrival of your boys! Hope they are doing well in NICU and that they'll be home with you soon. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Hi Carla,

You seem to be doing really well! =) Congrats on the arrival of the boys...

News of everyone popping is making me really nervous! Crossing fingers that they will stay in my tummy another few weeks...

Carla,

Congrats for the arrival of your boys. They will be fine. Take care rest well while waiting for them to be home with u. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

Pinky,

So your hubby wants a special date. Have u booked already? Need to book early? Am juz wondering will there be many KS parents who already booked the date. Even 4 yrs ago i can feel the busyness in the hospital, this year is even more special since it will be 101010 u might wanna call and check or booked early.

In my last stay in TMC which is a few mths ago i also dun feel the shortage of nurse. My friend juz told me 2 weeks ago, so am not sure izit now there is really a shortage. Am still thinking between TMC & Mt A. The only concern is if i'm in Mt A my Gynae normally dun drop by as often as if i'm in TMC.

Btw, did u booked a pd? Which pd u used the last time?

Hi Carla,

Congrats! You are officially the double twins mom! Hope the newborns grow well and can go home with you soon.

I will be checking in Tom night so will rest as much as I can in the day. I hope I can walk around soon after the c section too. [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]

doblue,

I booked the date with my gynae as well as the OT already. I think most importantly there must be an available OT if not nowhere to cut me open & take out the babies! lol. I think shortage of nurses or not, as long as they are available when we need their help & they provide good service, that's all that matters.

Is ur gynae's clinic in TMC? If you go for Mt A your gynae may charge more for the visits so that's 1 thing to consider. In the end the cost may work out to be the same.

I have not booked a PD yet, will just use the PD recommended by my gynae as intending to switch to polyclinic for their subsequent vaccinations & checkups.

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes.

Got to hold them for the 1st time last night, as they were transferred from the open beds to the incubators.. which is a good sign this early on. Most importantly is that they are breathing without any assistance.(My first son had to wear the CPAP mask for a week.) I really think the steroid injection worked wonders.

Have started pumping to stimulate milk flow, so far not bad-about 20 ml Colostrum, which is a lot considering they are only taking 1ml per 3hrly.

Kikichan, Here's wishing you a restful day today, and a day filled with joy for Thursday. Just take it easy after the c-sect. Everyone is different so don't feel upset if you can't get up and walk around straight away...It will take time. ( and painkillers...trust me!)
