hi vanilla,
my 2nd day will be somewhere in mid of march, so estimation for ER will be end of March. Will be taking Gonal-F for 14 days.. i guess...

happy.gif
there is still hope.
are you seeing the TCM doc? probably they can give some advice..

Hi wb, I am seeing a TCM, but I am supposed to call her after the scan..maybe i will call her tom and tell her what happ...

I guess my hcg levels + the scan paint a very bad picture to my gynaes... but i will not think too much and see how in the scan on 7ww....

thanks very much for ur comforting words and advice....appreciate it v much in such times...

Hi Vanilla,

how are you doing? hope you feel better.
have you seen your TCM?
I am waiting for your good news for next scan..
happy.gif

I have been busy to prepare my next IVF cycle especially to plan for my long leave. luckily my boss is very understanding person.

Hi WB, thanks for ur concern. Yesterday was not too good for me.. i have just started resuming work for a week but yesterday got real bad cramps and doc told me it could be start of the miscarriage so i went home and lay down the whole day...

Good thing is that there is no spotting or bleeding as yet..and i stopped the painkillers..

I called my TCM she told me to revert once i do my scan next week....there is nothing she can do at this stage and she does not want me to take any med in case it affects the baby

When u starting ur IVF cycle? Is it a fresh cycle? Yes it is v important to have an understanding boss once we have this procedure. My boss allows me to come in late and no need take leave (but i still take cos dont want HR to find trouble with him)..

Take care.. rem during ur 2WW..take plenty of water, egg white (for proteins) and also brazilan nut (1 a day)...

Hi Vanilla,
I'm still waiting for my menses to come, probably by end of this week.
Thanks, yes, i will remember that..
happy.gif

Take care ....

Hi wb & Rabbit,
I have a surprise today...today during my scan we saw the baby and the baby's heartbeat...We really thank the Lord for all his goodness..

This is really a surprise to my gynae as well as she thot all will be bad... I am really thankful to see the little one's heart fluttering away and could hear the heartbeat...

Thank you for ur encouragement and being here for me....thanks v much

hi vanilla...
I'm sooo happy for you...

Miracle does happen!

Thanks wb..yes I am so thankful to God for this miracle.

How much Gonal F are u injecting? It will be very soon when u will be on ur ER and ET....take care...

hi vanilla_pod_2,

When is the EDD? Remember to take care of yourself.

Thanks Rabbit....we are also so happy to be able to see a beating heart and hear it.

Not sure when EDD...i so blur..that sat doc say I am 8weeks...i thot i am 7weeks..will ask doc this sat..she is keeping me on weekly scan ...my fertility specialist told me to watch out unitl 12 weeks.. hope these 4 weeks pass without much worry / problems and with haste.

How are u? is ur MS still bad or it has decreased?

hi vanilla_pod_2,

I feel really happy for you. Isn't it simply amazing to hear the heart beat
happy.gif
.

i think your EDD is probably Oct. The gynae measure base on the size to determine the week.

MS still happens, but better. My major problem is sleep. I can't seem to sleep well and seem to be in and out of dreams. Not sure if the lack of sleep is making me a little bad-tempered.
how are u feeling?

To all the ladies: all the best for IVF.

HI Rabbit...ya I am still in this amazement that I could hear the heat beat...

Good to hear that your MS is better. Hmm..it is indeed difficult not to have a good night sleep esp since u are working..

Take care...when is ur EDD? I think you are most prob 2-3 weeks earlier than me...

hi vanilla_pod_2,

EDD is approx end Sep..going for OSCAR checks tomorrow.
U have to take care of yourself.

hi v_ni,
During my IVF, I only manage to have 3 eggs, but did not check on my level of FSH.

hi vanilla,

I got higher doses 450IU.. actually it does not make any different since i have low ovary. But my fertility specialist advice me to take high, since if take lower, in case there is no response, has to try the higher ..
I guess my ER will be somewhere by end of next week.
You take care too... ;)

Hi V_ni
I don't know if you made a typo or not, you said your FSH was 12 before, and now it is 6, this is a fantastic result! The lower the number, the better the reading. The higher the number, it means your body is working harder to stimulate.
The doctors are happy to see anything below 10 for women in the late 30s. I don't know how old are you, but 6 is a very good reading. I made only 2 eggs during my 1st IVF and failed that attempt. I will be planning to go for my 2nd cycle in a couple of months time.
By the way, I have a friend who swear never to try IUI, she thought was a waste of money. She got pregnant twice with IVF.

Maple Babies
Yes, Estradiol reading also indicate our body's stimulation ability. I dont exactly know what they meant, but if you have a good reading for FSH but a abnormal estradiol level, that affects the overall result too. Here is a link that tells you abit more, I thought this link explain very well in layman's term. http://www.advancedfertility.com/day3fsh.htm

Rabbit
Were you successful on the cycle where you made 3 eggs?

WB
My doc say if our ovaries are "done" working hard, no matter how much doses we put in, they won't work. But yes, you are right, have to try higher doses so we weren't walk away wondering "what ifs".

Rabbit
Congratulations! Where about now are you in your pregnancy? I wonder why they didn't put 3 out of 3 in. So did you do a D3 or D5 transfer? What stage were they when the doc did the transfer? 6-8 cells or more? Is this your first transfer? If not, what did you do that is different from your previous time? How old are you if you don't mind me asking?
So many questions....sorry.

hi mngal,

thank you. i am now in my 12 weeks
happy.gif

no worry at all. ;)
i choose to put in 2 instead of 3 although gynae suggested 3 as i was afraid of the implication of multiple pregnancies. i had the remaining one frozen though it seem alittle stupid to just freeze 1.
ET was on day 3, think was 4 cells. Both embryos were of the same grade. It is my first trial after 2 failed SO-IUI and I am above 35.

Rabbit
Did your embryologist perform "assisted hatching on your embryos"? Are you carrying one or 2 babies? What was your treatment protocol?
What did you do during the 2ww to "help" the embryos implant? What were your symptoms during the 2ww?
You will be my inspiration!

Hi mngal,

I am not sure if the embryologist perform "assisted hatching on my embryos". think they did ICSI. I am under Dr SF Loh in KKH and carrying 1 bb.

I did not do anything special during 2ww, watch DVD most of the time (also went back to office on some days). Did not drink cold/cooling stuff, and do not carry heavy stuff.
I was feeling quite bloated and tired during 2ww, so did not eat much, mostly home cooked food.

I hope all aspiring mothers will have their dreams fulfilled. All the best.

hi mngal,

to addon...
i did TCM during the time when i did SO-IUI. not sure if that helps to build my body when I proceed with IVF (note: i did not go for tcm during IVF). i did 2 rounds of SO-IUI, rest for 1 round before I proceed with IVF.

Rabbit
ICIS is when they put the sperm directly into the egg. Assisted hatching is when they "assist" the fertilized embryos remove their outer layers so the embryos can break out of the egg shells easier to implant. I had one 4-cell embryo and one 2-cell embryo and both didn't implant. The embryologist team didn't perform assisted hatching on mine.
I remembered my ER was easy but the after effect of my ET was quite intolerable. I had painful cramps for at least first 5 days then subsided to mild cramps for the next 5 days. I did fell on my butt on the 10th day on the icy slope of my driveway. But I don't think that is the reason of non-implantation. Did you feel any cramps at all during your 2ww?

hi mngal,

I did not feel much cramp during 2ww but i had very bad backache. I was also given Duphaston (not sure if i spell it correctly) after 2ww.

hi ladies.. (vanilla, mngal)

sorry long time no update..

i have 5 folicles and has a good size for each, will have ER on Friday and probably ET on Sunday.
I'm very happy with the result, since doc expected 1 or 2 folicles only.
happy.gif

i'm still doing acupuncture once a week during IVF , will have one before ER and one before ET.

I do not really know which one helps for this time around. I went for TCM for the past 2 months before IVF, took EPO and wheatgrass.
During IVF, go for ACU and still taking wheatgrass.

hi vanilla, how are you feeling now? now should be around 9 weeks?

hi mngal, seems like in singapore hardly do an Assisted hatching. .. but not sure also.. probably there is any ladies here has such experience ?

Hi WB
Wow! Congrats! 5 follicles is also what I am hoping for. What type of protocol did you go through this round?
What is EPO?
Did TCM prescribe wheatgrass for you too? or did you go out and buy on your own?
I heard acupuncture helps implantation. I am so excited for you!

Rabbit
I guess my severe cramps had alot to do with my embryos not implanting then.

hi mngal,

Thanks..
I'm using short protocol, start from day2 of my menses for Gonal F injection.
EPO is evening primrose oil. I bought wheatgrass tablets on my own from GNC, it is 500mg tablet, take 5 tables daily. I read from some articles EPO not advisable to take during IVF, so only continue taking wheatgrass.

How are you doing there? do you have time to go for acupuncture? if not, try to find supplements to balancing the hormone.. and stay happy !

Hi wb,

Can i know where do you go for acupuncture? i too have low ovarian reserve due to endo. my 1st attempt from the stimulation (puregon 350ml) only result in 1 extra fast & large follicle and 3-4 small ones who is not of good size. I had to abort the IVF, which is very disappointing and discouraging.

I am still considering when to go for my 2nd attempt. I am with Dr LC Foong and he recommended Gonal F (atleast 400ml) and short protocol for the next round.

i am now trying TCM to build up my body before the 2nd attempt. But my doc do not do acupunture. Would you recommend yours?

hi wb, good to hear from you. rem to stay away for soya bean products before the ER this fri and also after the ET.

congrats on ur no of eggs... so how many will u put in? Take lots of rest during the 2ww..esp the first 3 days (that is the implantation period)...and take 1 - 2 brazilian nuts..supposed to help with implantation.

Thanks I am ok..this week is week 9. My fertilit doc and gynae both keeping their fingers X -- they want me to pass the 12th week mark ...the sac is abit small so that is the only worry. But I know God will protect my little one... so I am putting all my worries onto Him.

Take care...come in here to chat during ur 2ww when u r bored....

hi Yin,
my acupuncture is at Rafless hosp TCM centre with dr Seah. I choose this because near my office, much easy to go after office hour..
probably you also can try with Dr Zou at AMK, many ladies go to see her..

hi vanilla,
thanks. I have not decided how many embryos will put back.. maybe after my ER. (",)
yes, i will eat brazilian nuts..
my stomach feel very tight today.. is it normal? I do not remember if i have such bloateness on my previous IVF..
I'll pray for your little one... another 3 weeks .. not too long..

You take care too..
happy.gif

talking about soya bean .. i love to drink soya milk.. but since started my cycle.. everyday trying to avoid Mr Bean's shop.. lol..

I drink soy milk daily. I have no idea that it is not encouraged during ER or ET or 2ww.
Anyway, ladies! I am so excited. I will be coming back to Singapore end of next week to visit my parents. Decision was made on the spur of moment, found a ticket and grabbed it since it will be spring break vacation week too here in US. I think I will be seeing an acupunturist when I come. Do you guys suggest Dr Zhou from AMK too?

hi mngal, soy is rich in phyto-estrogens, high levels of estrogen can actually inhibit your body's natural cycle of hormones. better avoid during IVF..
how long you will be in singapore?
ya, better see acupuncturist here...

hi yin,

here is the details.. i copied from another thread..
--
We are seeing doc Zou in amk block 505 ave 5. We usually do acu twice weekly. Each session $25 for 40 mins. Medication abt $40 for 5 days period. acu not painful just some small currents going thru . Tel 6456 0833

hi Wb, i think it is normal to feel bloatedness during the injection stage. For me it is dizziness and nausea (which are unusual). Thanks for ur prayers, really appreciate it..u take care!

Hi Mngal - good that u are coming back next week. Yes better avoid soya beans - i also use to drink like 1 cup a day (in my attempt to cut my caffeine) but now i stopped. I read this fertility book that too much for women is not good.

Hi Vanilla
So you even eliminated 1 cup of soy milk a day during IVF? What about regular milk? As you know, milk and cereal is the staple breakfast here, and my favorite one too.

Hi Mngal, dairy milk is ok.. but i am lactose intolerant so i cannot drink it.

I only eliminated my soya bean now cos my fren told me abt preggie woman cannot take too much cos of estrogen and if u carry a boy then not too good.

Then that day i read this fertility book and they mentioned abt those seeking fertility treatment also must cut down on soya cos of the estrogen.

I even avoid soya products - like cut down on bean curd as well.

hi v_ni, my TCM doc also put needles at the tummy area (the fatty part) and at the legs, ankle and at the hand. Then she will heat up the tummy area and the legs with standing lamp looking heater. It will be for around 45mins.

hi wb,

care to share how do you know wheatgrass and EPO can help to reduce FSH? how many tab you take for EPO? i read a book that says vit B complex can help to normalise FSH, dunno is it true. btw, my FSH gets worsen this month, very sad.
sad.gif

Jenn,

Maybe you are under stress? FSH level can get higher when the stress level is high.. try to cool down.. and relax..
I took advice from http://www.ivfworld.com/board.php?id=22 (Poor response/high FSH) thread.

I took 1 tablet EPO a day and for wheatgrass took arnd 3-5 tablets (each tablet contains 500mg).

vanilla,

how are you now? if not wrong now in week 11?
I was trying to get busy during my 2WW, doing some works from home, few hours a day.
the past few days, suddenly i felt little down, not sure why.. maybe because my blood test coming..and still having cramp here n there.. quite scare..
sad.gif
keep praying for the good result.
