IVF at NUH--feedback pls

Blue - Thanks for the information. I am waiting for ur BFP to collect lots & lots of babydust from you. Be positive everything will be good.

Siddhi, dont care about the successful rate of FET. just believe in yourself and think positive. Believe it will grow in you. I think knowing more details, not really that good.. if the successful rate is lower then fresh one, it will for sure more or less effect our emotion.

Blue, ask you
When do u think I can official test myself?

CHR told me to increase my gel dosage to 2 now tomolo go for BT instead
I am super depress and worry

SJX- if u want k test on 1st urine tomorrow morning before u go chr.
Last round I use Watson brand but can't really see, only able to see from digital clearblue brand
All the best

Hi ladies
How r u all?

My bt is out and not good
sad.gif

Too low to detect pregnancy so guess no high chance

My BT is tomorrow.
But how low is yr blood test level?
Last round my was 50+, was given jab & repeat test again 3 days later.
Yr spotting stop already?

SJX- don think so much. Now is pray & rest.
If do not want to lay down, when sitting lift up & rest yr legs.
At least there is implantation.
I know that part of dont think too much is difficult. Talk to yr baby to jia you & hang tightly to U.
Miracle will happen.

Siddhi- I don't have babydust to spread
I was quite upset initially & cannot come to terms why there was no implantation
But now I am better emotionally, will have to wait for my appt w Prof then decide what is the next step

Hugs Bluenosebear....sorry to hear that...

mind me ask....how do u know there is no implantation? You have your AF already?

how do we know it fail?

hi Ladies,

can any kind soul let me know the step-by-step procedures on go polyclinic, which dept to get the referral letter, costs, and the procedures to have IVF...thanks
happy.gif

Blue - Hugs...Take care. When are you meeting Prof next? I think he is not in Singapore. My next appointment with him after my failed cycle is on 13th April.

Charlotte: My total cost for fresh cycle from 1st injection till transfer of embryos is somewhere S$ 10 K. Cost will vary on your dosage of medicines. S$2k was spend on inital testings. 6k can be deducted from medisave if its your first ivf cycle. 3k can be taken as grant if u & ur spouse are Singaporeans. Regarding polyclinics & referral letters I dont have any idea. If you have any other queries please feel free to ask in the forum.

hi Siddhi, thanks for yr great help on the costs, so meaning u just fork out abt $2k cash on the whole procedures? the rest can be deducted from medisave n grant? this is provided done in NUH, only government hospital, not TMC?

Hi ladies

I have a question, I am given duphaston dydrogesterone from prof.
I checked Internet, this Medicine is indicated only in cases of habitual abortion. Does this mean it is end of it?

Hi Charlotte,

for medisave and grant it is only apply to local government hospital..
TMC is consider private hence it is not entitled.

for my, done in NUH, over all i spent ard 2k plus

But if you want subsidy by going through polyclinic, you need to make an appt with polyclinic gynae, get a referral but the waiting period to see IVF specialist is long...and you cannot choose doc. Overall going through subsidy u will spend around 1k plus which I feel I rather go direct as the waiting is shorter and I got an appointed doc to fully concentrate my case

Charlotte, u can go to polyclinic and tell the nurse there u want to get refferal letter for ivf treatment. I just got mine end march. First appointment was on 9 apr.

Emily-2k+ all depend on individual medication used, especially on the stimulation medication.
Charlotte-If U have decided on which Dr U want to see, U can call up CHR (IVF centre)-67745336 to do enquiry/ book for an appt.
U do not need any referral letter.

Blue - How are u? Did u meet Prof? What is the plan of action? Wanted to ask how did ur Natural FET costed with Nuh?

Hi emily_tey
yes 2k plus is overall i had paid...as Blue said.. it individual as it depend how much medicine u needs.

Hi Rainie,
for me, I actually has a referral letter from my previous IVF specialist as we are singaporean hence my doc refer me to government hospital as I am entitled to the grant.
But I am consider to private patient in NUH as I am directly to Prof Wong only...

Hi Blue and Siddhi

How are u both?

Siddhi-my appt with Prof would be on 8/5.
Likely be starting fresh but I would do like end of the year or even next year. Have not decided yet.
For my natural FET, I paid abt 2K+, almost 3k.
SJX-I have not really plan what is the next step, but is trying to relax & planning to go short trip 1st.
Right now I just felt like a wounded bird.
Hopefully by then I would know which direction to go & the courage to cheong.
How are U?
Hope everything goes well for U.
U started woek already?

Hi Sisters,

My 2nd ivf failed, 11 Apr BT got BFN, sob sob. past few days had been difficult for me & HB, and it's like dejavu, same disappointment and sadness happened again... now trying to get over this and get back to normal routine. Had been reading this forum, and it's encouraging to see your stories/post, makes me feel i'm not alone.

Both of my 2 IVF were with Prof PC Wong. Now i'm thinking of planning for a 3rd cycle, but wondering if I should consider changing a doc/hospital like KKH... but from the forum f/b, KKH seems to have very long waiting time, and there were some negative stories/experiences for KKH, any advice? thks.

Hi Mel
I had my IVFs cycle in NUH (Prof Wong) and KK (Dr Sadhana), if u want to have TLC, KK is not a place for u. KK-IVF ctr is like a factory producing line, the nurses are all too busy to listen to your worries, and u got to c your own IVF doc only during ER and ET, whereas at NUH, Prof Wong will do the scanning and if u have any questions to ask him, he is always there (understand that he always has a busy schedule). The CHR nurses are all friendly and helpful, despite their busy schedule, u still can ask them your doubts and they do listen!
Do PM to me if u need more information…
Follow your heart, sister and I wish u success in your next try!

Hi sisters, just to share my story. 1st ivf failed, I guess some sisters would know me. Devastated, yes but life still goes on & I started to see tcm for tonics & was advised by her not to attempt ivf although I kw it's invasive to our body but I'm really desperate for a child as all e sisters here I guess. I don't kw whether to say I'm lucky or unlucky but I had ectopic pregnancy right after 3 weeks of tcm & failed cycle of ivf, needless to say, e drs was also dumbfounded. I'm not trying to raise hopes here & neither to discourage sisters here but both me & hubby were really surprised bcos hubby sperm motility was only 3% & not able to fertilize my egg naturally, that's why we turn to ivf. My hubby started to take tcm after my failed ivf as well bcos I practically break down & went hysterical. Nw I'm calmer & hope tcm can help us. I guess it's really up to individuals. Do face things positively. We will gif ourselves some time as I'll need time to recover as well bcos of e surgery from ectopic & I had to remove it. I was told initially I may lose one Fallopian tube but I don't kw how, e dr told me my system actually 'purged' out e ectopic mass & landed in my abdominal fats so I guess that is a blessing in disguise & both my tubes are intact.
After failed ivf, I was like asking the dr when can I try ivf again bcos I was really desperate & my hubby could sense that. So sisters, do calm down & get over the failed cycle first, mentally & physically. I wish all well. Will update again should I decide to attempt ivf again.
Mel - noi is right, KKH I have no experience but I've been to SGH & the nurses' attitude is also similar to KKH. That was why I chose NUH to start ivf too. Hope it helps.

Hi Noi, thanks for the info, and I do agree that NUH CHR nurses are very friendly & helpful. they are very busy too but their attitude towards patients are always good. On one of the Saturday afternoon before the injection of ovidrel, the
syringe given was damaged, and the med was spilled out. so we activated the CHR standby nurse, and one of the nurse who was about to leave the clinic actually stayed back, and waited for us to pass the new med to me. it's already 4pm+ which is out of their working hours, but they were very helpful, and didn't give any bad attitude.

Prof Wong is also professional and give more attentions to ivf patients. during my ivf program, for the BT & U/S scan every alternate day, it's always arranged in the early time slot, like 8am
to 830am, some time even 740am, which Prof goes in early to dedicate his time for ivf patients. so waiting time is pretty short.

Lee(dollyrac): thanks for the info and big hugz for you~~ This is a long challenging journey for us, but I believe the time will come and we will all be a proud mom sooner or later. Cheer up!

For procedures, agreed with emily it'd be similar.
my 1st ivf was long protocol (starting with suprefect to suppress hormone, then gonal-F for stimulation).
2nd ivf was short protocol (start directly with Gonal-F for stimulation, and later add cetrotide).
Personally I prefer short protocol, which cut short the injections period by half!

Hi ladies,
I used to be a patient with Prof Wong for my ivf. I had 3 fresh cycles with him and finally gave birth to my girl last Aug. don't give up. True, being relax is very impt. Don't read on symptoms too much. I also agree with Chr nurse being very helpful. I actually gave the standby nurse a call on Sunday and I'm no longer under their charge. By then I was about 2 months pg. I was having rashes n the gp gave me a medication. I was quite hesitant to consume but took. One dosage. I search on the net and to my horror, the medication was not suitable for pg ladies. I had told gp but seems he was not bothered. I call their hp n the nurse was somehow sure the pill was not good for me. She gave me advice on what to do.

About kkh, I also hear horror story there.
One of a friend of mine went there for ivf. Got pg. along the way had some minor problem but still under control. I think she she was abt 4mths pg, she had some bleeding. Went to Kk and they gave something to her. It got worse when she went back hm. Went again to a n e. hubby called the gynae n what shocked me was that he was told she's on leave. Her hubby even beg her to come to check on my friend but gynae said something like "if nothing can be done no pt she cones down."
Then my friend lost her bb. Things were messy when she was there. Seems no dr attended to her.

Hope all your wish will come true

ladies doing ivf at nuh, may i know everytime doing BT, we need to see doctor after the BT? I am quite confuse. 1st appointment with nuh have gone through BT for Progestrone & Rebella on 9 Apr. Next appointment as per nurse is BT & scan on D2 of mensus which is tomrorow. 3Rd appointment is to see doctor on 7 May 12. So 2nd appointment need to see doctor? The reason I ask is, they giving me 2 time slot tomorrow, morning for BT and afternoon to see doctor.. and I have to spend 1 day annual leave. Please advise if anyone here se doctor after D2 BT & scan? Coz I thought all report will our after and see doctor on 7 may for further discussion. She said if I dont book these 2 slot then have to wait for next month mensus.. haiiz

dian, update for u. I just called nuh to book appointment. At first the nurse thought that I am under Private, she say that earliest appointment is next month. same to subsidize patient, if I dont take the 2 slots they have, I will have to wait till next month mensus.

Hi Emily,

are you on short or long protocol?

D2 BT & scan are done at diff places.
BT - CHR nurse (usually done in the morning, so that report will be out in the afternoon)
scan - done by dr (for me was Prof Wong)

When I was on short protocol, injection of Gonal-F will start on D2. So I got both my BT & scan done in the early morning. after BT & scan, CH nurse passed me med, so I dun need to go back again. then in the afternoon after the BT result is out, chr nurse called me to advise me the injection dosage, and book the next BT & scan appt for me.

you may wanna try asking chr nurse if u could go early morning for the scan.

Hi Mel, i asked her for early morning slot, but also not avail. i dont know whether mine is long or short protocol, the doctor yet decide as tomorrow only i second time go to nuh.normally when doctor will decide on wgich protocol to go?
